when did 2k for a phone become a standard thing

Samsung flagship S23 Ultra are selling for $1200, apple can put whatever price tag they want 😂 people will pay

      • Can you please share the deal?

      • +3

S23 Ultra are selling for $1200

Are you sure about that? Can hardly just take the occasional gift card postpaid plan or trade-in bonus deal etc as the normal everyday price.

        • +4

exactly its $50 cheaper than the iPhone ffs
          Samsung fanboys making up bullshit

      • +3

        you sure https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/samsung-galaxy-s23-ultra-…

I think he meant to say S23 Ultra 256G are selling at around $1200ish during occasional sales. And they do run promotion more often than Apple IMO.The most recent one would be extra 15% off @TGG 2 weeks ago.

          • @Pennywiser: they have to promote as they don't get sales when its not on discount
sell thru is pretty average vs an equivalent iphone pro model

point was at the moment when not on promotion its the same price

          • @Pennywiser: ive been trying to sell the s23ultra 256gb for the past few weeks through ebay and Facebook with no success for $1200, it seems that outside of jbhifi, you can pick up a new one for around that price point with warranty aussie model.

  • $200.00 for a colour change ?
    Space Black $1800.00 everywhere else.

Obscene Apple prices ,I switched to Android because of there insane prices with better specs & half the price.

    • +1

Exactly. No point in paying for a logo.i got s23 for $700 and a free watch.

    • +1

I switched to lower/older Apple phones, because even though Pixel 7 Pro was a great phone, it was huge and unwieldy af.

So yeah, I'd rather stay in the ecosystem and "pay for a logo", but the older one. And Apple devices keep their value much better if I wanted to sell and upgrade, unlike any Android devices (unfortunately!).

    • +2

I switched to Android twice, same reasons as yours, but have twice returned to Apple. I just buy older model units (iPhones, watch, airpods etc) as they are still great. The Apple Watch is probably my biggest selling point.. that and the seamless operation within its ecosystem.

To each their own, but to me its definitely more than just a logo.

Bah. I agree with all the comments about the ludicrous pricing.

    But…

No other phone has LiDaR! AND the upgraded gyro/sensor suite in the 14 (originally meant for crash detection) means the models you can generate are substantially more accurate than previous generations.

So here I am, considering buying it anyway :( I'd probably wait for a cheap 14 pro small though.

~2 months till the new ones come out

    • Lidar is cool for sure, but is that why the phone is more expensive?

Also would the common man/woman be using this feature alot?

I wonder if Lidar was removed the price would go down or stay the same 🤔

I admit this definitely isn't something most people would or should care about.

But for me, it's killer! (I'm in the geospatial industry)

Fyi Coles gc deal would actually works out to be 13% not 15% off cause it's bonus 15% value added on your purchased gc
