  • What’s the reason for not including variable loads anymore on these deals?miss buying $500 cards, was easy to manage.

    • +4

They don't want people buying too much, but still want to advertise and have people going into the shops.

    • +1

Because the card issuer makes money from people not using up their balance, giving variable load means less money to be made.

  • Great.

who came up with that acronym?

    • What acronym?

      • -1

EDR for Everyday Rewards. It's the correct acronym business wise but some people get irked by it not being ER, for grammatical reasons.

        • I too prefer ER but EDR is the established initialism on OzBargain so I went with what people already know.

  • Does anyone know if you can use these to buy Xbox Games Pass vouchers from EB/JB/Good Guys? Need to buy a birthday gift.

    • I'm not sure about EB or TGG but it shouldn't be a problem at JB Hi-Fi.

All Gift Cards sold at JB Hi-Fi or at third party locations do not expire. Gift Cards can be redeemed at any time even if a Gift Card specifies an expiry date. This excludes third party gift cards sold at JB Hi-Fi or at third party locations where JB Hi-Fi is a participating retailer on the gift card, such as Ultimate Gift Cards (e.g. Ultimate Kid Gift Card and Ultimate Home Gift Card) and The Card Network Gift Cards (e.g. The Home Gift Card and the Gift Card), which will be subject to the expiry date stated on those cards.

    • I had no problem to use it to pay Nintendo eShop cards at JB and EB a few weeks ago. I don't think Xbox vouchers are treated differently

  • I’m about to need to get a new phone.

Can I load up a bunch of these and then use at officeworks? Is there a limit to how many gift cards they’d be willing to take for a single purchase?

    • +1

Can I load up a bunch of these and then use at officeworks?

      Yes, but only in-store.

Is there a limit to how many gift cards they’d be willing to take for a single purchase?

No, but there's always a small chance you get served by someone who either can't be bothered or doesn't understand what you're trying to do.

Just in case anyone is interested, within the last 48 hours, IKEA was added as a participating retailer to the UItimate Everyone gift card (as well as the Home, Students and Style/Shopping gift cards). You can now use them at IKEA instore or online, plus you can exchange your Ultimate gift card for a digital IKEA gift card through the Ultimate gift card website.

I actually first spotted a listing for IKEA on the Ultimate gift card website many months ago, so I am surprised it has taken this long for IKEA to be added to the Ultimate gift card scheme…

    • @WookieMonster - Would you know if any of the (Home / Everyone / Students and Style / Shopping ) gift cards bought a couple of months ago can also be used at IKEA now ?

      • +1

        Yes, it should.

        • The Ultimate gift card terms and conditions for the Visa version talk about the full and updated list of participating retailers being on the Ultimate gift card website. That implicitly means any additions to participating retailers are reflected across all Ultimate gift cards (at least for the Visa version).

        • When Officeworks was added to the Ultimate gift card scheme at the end of September 2022, I had a few Ultimate Home and Students gift cards I purchased many months earlier. All of them were redeemable at Officeworks.

    • Do you know how many gift cards can be used at ikea for a single transaction?
Or can multiple ultimate gift cards be combined into one ikea digital card?

      • +1

Do you know how many gift cards can be used at ikea for a single transaction?

Are you referring to Ultimate gift cards or IKEA gift cards? The answer will depend on which one you are referring to…

        • Ultimate gift cards instore: I am not sure whether IKEA actually lets you use multiple Visa cards in one transaction, as I have never had an opportunity to test this out myself.

        • Ultimate gift cards online: You should only be able to use one Ultimate gift card in one online transaction at IKEA.

        • IKEA gift cards instore: I have never come across a limit myself. I have used four in one instore transaction in the past.

        • IKEA gift cards online: I do not know what the limit actually is (if there is one). Someone once used 29 in one online transaction and someone else was told the limit was 99.

Or can multiple ultimate gift cards be combined into one ikea digital card?

I believe this is not possible through the IKEA website or the Ultimate gift card website.

I do not know whether you can use multiple Ultimate gift cards to purchase one IKEA gift card at an IKEA store, but I suspect you that was not a scenario you had in mind.

  • Can we buy any denominations or only the ones in the photos?

    • +1

Any except for the $50-500 variable load Ultimate Everyone card.

      • Thanks. It doesn’t look like it applies to the kids, teens etc does it? Does it only apply to the everyone cards?

        • +2

The only type of Ultimate gift card listed in this deal is the Ultimate Everyone gift card.

  • Does anyone know if UFC main event can be purchased using the kayo cards?

  • Anyone noticed any Everyone gift cards still available in the Sydney CBD or thereabouts?

  • For the Ultimate Everyone card, is there any higher denominations than the $100 one that the advert shows? And can we still get the bonus points on those higher denominated cards?

    • There is a $50-500 variable load Ultimate Everyone card but, if you read the terms and conditions above, it is specifically excluded from this promotion.

      • Yeah, I did see that, apart from that, sounds like there's no higher denominations?

        • +2

          That sounds correct.

Woolworths only sells a $100 fixed denomination and $50-$500 variable load denomination for Ultimate Everyone gift cards.

Other retailers (e.g. Coles) sell a $50 fixed denomination for Ultimate Everyone gift cards.

I have not seen any other denomination for physical Ultimate Everyone gift cards sold at other retailers (e.g. BIG W), which makes me think no other denominations of physical Ultimate Everyone gift cards even exist.

          • @WookieMonster: Thanks, also noted that there is a limit of 5 cards per day per Rewards Member. Can that limit be bypassed multiple transactions (i.e., buy 5 in one transaction, then another 5 in different transaction)?

            • +2

@squarepants: Generally speaking, Everyday Rewards enforces any gift card limits mentioned in such deals, so I would expect them to enforce the five-gift-cards-per-day restriction.

For example, if you bought five Ultimate Everyone gift cards at one Woolworths through this deal, you should get the bonus points for those five gift cards. However, if you then travelled to another Woolworths on the same day and used the same Everyday Rewards card when purchasing one more Ultimate Everyone gift card, you should see zero points awarded to your account. You could plead ignorance with an Everyday Rewards rep after the fact, but there is a good chance they will still tell you will get no points on the second transaction.

If you are the sort of person who is happy to test this out to see what the checkouts will do for a second transaction, you could go to a second store on the same day, go to a self-service checkout (assuming the Woolworths you go to has self-service checkouts), scan your Everyday Rewards card and the Ultimate Everyone gift cards and go to the payment screen to see whether you will earn points. If you are going to earn points, the checkout should two do things as soon as you press Pay Now:

              1. Display a pop up message saying you have earned $xx off your next shop or $xx for Christmas or xxxx Qantas points. You have to press OK to dismiss the message.

              2. Display in the points counter the number of points you will earn for that transaction. (The points counter is in the top right-hand corner of the screen.)

If you do not see the correct number of points awarded to you, you can cancel the transaction (although you would need to get the self-service checkout attendant to help you with that).

  • Anyone know of any stores in Melb still have Ultimate Everyone 100 available? Checked out most Woolworths in CBD today. All sold out.
