Bought the black version when it was on sale recently, lovely bag.

      • Huh?

@Budju: Oh like up voting the post? It's not something I do usually. But I've had no issues with the product.

            @Budju: Spanish inquisition much. Jeez

@leftspeaker2000: Trying to ask him if it's a good price and it was like pulling teeth.

I bought it too and returned it. Shoulder straps lack thick padding and become uncomfortable after short periods when some weight is in backpack. Also don’t overlook how limited the size is: two large text books plus a laptop and it’s full - my water bottle couldn’t fit inside and there is no water bottle slot externally.

Note it has no weather proofing or security features at all which can be deal breaker for many. The positives? Looks great and has some structure which means if maintains a nice shape and stands upright even when empty. I felt in-person the brown looked cheap compared to black though.

I mainly use this bag for work so I don't stuff it with much but I can see why the reasons you mentioned would be an issue. Nice bag if it fits your use case, YMMV

      • How big is your water bottle. The main internal compartment is as wide as my palm and would fit all my drink bottles.

      • thank you, almost pulled the trigger

Bit surprised your water bottle doesn’t fit, I easily fit my 920mL hydroflask with laptop, headphones, bike lock, thin jumper and computer accessories

    Weights more than your contents.

  • My suggestion is the Chelsea backpack. Small, splash proof and can fit a 14' MacBook Pro or similar.
Can be had for ~$112 from Myer sales and cash back.

This one is more of a premium - try before you buy

  • Looks to be a further 8% cashback with Cashrewards (for Click and collect).

  • Will amazon price match this?

I remember the good old days when you just had a $30 rip curl back pack, now everyone has $200 1950s suitcases on their backs, times have change

    • It's all about the noise it makes as you jam it in the overhead locker. But nah seriously it might be more robust than a rip curl pack.

  • Samsonite! I knew it started with an S!

I've had other (not this one) Samsonite back packs fail at the stitching on the straps.

I don't buy them anymore, more robust options available for this kind of money.

    • Oh I bet it does. I returned this exact model due to the straps being too thin. Also I envisaged your issue because I thought excess weight in backpack will probably weaken stitching at straps over time.

        Yes, fair observation.

        Laptop, notebook and water bottle.

I have one of these..very much recommend

Great bag if you’re carrying very little and don’t need any protection from weather and criminals.

      • So that's just fine for like 90% of people then 👍 Thanks for the recommendation.

  • I want Samsonite Delegate

I have this and it works for me, no issues.

If you are looking for something cheap, Jack London warehouse sale this weekend in melbourne, have leather bags for $40.

Sure it works, but space is severely limited - maybe 14L from memory. And weak shoulder pad construction could make this a deadweight in future. Also note zero security (no RFID pockets and it’s not lockable) and zero weather proofing. Should be half this price for what it provides.

May also be old stock as a newer design seems to be on the web.

Got the brown one, beautiful leather. Comfortably fits a 16.5" laptop.

    • -3

Lol. My 16” MacBook Pro couldn’t fit the main compartment pouch, and the rear one was a very tight squeeze - with no decent padding.

    • Can attest my 15.6” JUST does too but YMMV depending on aspect ratio of your screen

  • Looks nice, Cognac Brown looks way better than the black version imo.

I want something Melbourne weather proof though, any recommendations ?

I have this one and find it to be durable and comfortable to use. The lack of a water bottle carrier on the side could be a deal-breaker for some, but I use a memo bottle so no issues there😄

    • Sure but it isn’t leather which is a big selling point
