Looking for an Office Desk (with Drawers) - Budget $300

Hi all,

I've recently begun working from home and am looking for a good office desk, preferably one that has drawers so I can get rid of my bedside as it is taking up too much space and my room size isn't that big.

Would prefer to get a desk that is black in colour as it would match my bed but similar colours like brown and walnut would be fine as well. I currently have a BigW desk in black that I've had for a few years but I'll be getting rid of that.

Dimensions that I am after would ideally be 120mm (L) x 50-60mm (W) x 75-80mm (H).

I've looked at a few desks online like this one.

This one, however takes 30-40 days to deliver and I needed one sooner, it also increased in price by at least a $100 since I last checked so that's putting me off. The 47" variant was $274 when I last checked two weeks ago.

Another one I looked at is this.

The walnut design looks pretty good and it ships much quicker than the one above. I was concerned about the quality though at this price.

Also just to add on, my maximum budget on the office desk would probably be $300 or less as I am looking to claim the cost as an immediate tax deduction.

Looking forward to your suggestions and any other options.

Thanks

  • DIY a table with drawers and pegboard.

  • If you're in a big city, what's stopping you going to Gumtree or Facebook Marketplace? There's a big range of good stuff there.

When I fitted out my current place, I made a very conscious decision not to buy new furniture, as secondhand stuff is far, far better quality for the price. The two you linked are going to be synthetic veneer over MDF.

  • +1

IKEA desk plus separate drawer unit? Plenty of black options. Might run a little over $300 in total but each item will be under $300

agree that marketplace will almost certainly have better quality at cheaper

  • You could go for the IKEA Lagkapten/Alex Desk
    Dimensions:
    - 140x60x73

It also has a variant with two sets of drawers that costs a bit more.
Same dimensions as above. Just make sure you and your chair fits in the gap.
