New Balance BB550WEA $50 (RRP $200) + $15 Delivery @ Up There Athletics

202

Born in 1989 and reborn in the 2020s, it's unlikely that anyone might have predicted the new life that the New Balance 550 has taken on. Arguably more popular now than 30+ years ago, the past couple of seasons have seen the 550 catapulted into the lifestyle sphere thanks to the work of collaborators and influencers alike. After a period of being surprisingly hard to get a hold of, we're happy to see this style more readily accessible now.

These joints are a New Yorker's dream – we just need Spiderman rocking these instead of the Timbs and it'll be gucci. The wheat nubuck uppers are accented with hits of mustard yellow to stop things getting a little too tonal. The outsole is a dreamboat, with the entirety of the tooling finished in gum rubber – a shoe out for our very own hearts.

Wheat anything is straight fire and these are a 550 as well so you're probably running out of time as you contemplate whether you're going to wear these enough…

    Looks like shit

If they had it in 6e width I'd still buy 2 pairs 😂 wide feet make my shoes minimum of $70 a pair usually

    • +1

      Literally it does.

No wonder its dropped in price so much.

    • dId YoU stEp iN ShIt?

    • +1

It has to be deliberate, right? They deliberately make some that look awful.

  • Some things should've never been born, just say'n!

  • +2

are these mens or women's sizes?

  • -1

These shoes look square and uncomfortable.

  • -5

What a terrible website. Can’t determine if these are men or women shoes.

    • +2

Plenty of downvotes, but still no one can answer this persons question?

If you can tell me where in the link it says what gender the sizes refer to then by all means prove us wrong by telling us how you figured it out and go ahead and downvote me.

      Until then you're all cowards.

People are getting retard lately, just google the model number, in new balance site it consider as unisex, happy now ?? https://www.newbalance.com.au/pd/550/BB550V1-42002.html

      • -3

But the sizing information is gender specific. There isn’t a unisex column.

        • If it says unisex, then it is written in Men's US sizes.

        • -1

Mate, you can't read ? It says unisex just above the price, also it has two sizing for the reason?

          • @boomramada: Ok smartarse so…
            1) The word 'unisex' does not appear anywhere in the page on the retailers desktop site.
The word 'men' does not appear except for within the word payments in the footer
The word 'women' does not appear at all
            2) Why should i have to go to a 3rd party site to see size info.
            3) How does that even help? Like what size on the retailers website does one choose for a mens size 12?
Does the retailers size 12 mean mens 12 or womens 12?
Are the retailers sizes listed the mens or womens sizes?

These are fair and legitimate questions, how about showing me how they can be definitively answered without being silly and without making any risky assumptions.

            • @virtual81: Im not been ass, first of all newbalance.com.au site is not 3rd party, you are buying from third party.
And then when there is two size showing, usually means unisex.

Not sure if that color will be rad or bad with navy/black jeans

    • +1

My thoughts are the same, nice colour to match with blue jeans tho, too bad it's not in 2E.

  • +3

    Would Alf wear these?

    • +1

You couldn't tell if he was!

  • all i want to know, is who tf would pay 200 schmackos for these??

    • Scooby-Doo. Dogs deal in schmackos.

I quite like the shoes in a teenage Robert Redford sort of way. But that is one hipshit website to navigate.

  • +2

I bought these for about 100. AMA (if it's a good question, no low effort shit please)

    • +2

Definitely low effort, but are these the same model known as the 'classic dads shoe'? I think I had a pair when I was a kid, I couldn't remember how comfy they were because they definitely wern't worn enough but all my friends who are new dads are still raving about how comfy they are.. 😅 I might grab these for Fathers Day if they're the same (or better). Thank you! ^^

      • These are the ultimate dad-core shoes I own

        I prefer 2002 and 1906 protection packs and 9060

        • Haha, thank you. Damnit, problem is only my size available now..

  • +2

That sizing chart is weird, US Men's are half a size from their UK/AUS equivalent? Everywhere else they are a full size.

Also that website doesn't have an option to sort the results by anything which shit me to tears so much I have up looking at their other items.

  • +1

These give me feelings I don't understand.

  • They're sold out. But I found nicer colours on special and bought 2 pairs. Leather is great for wet weather and easy cleaning. Just worried about sizing.

I had to return 2 x Air Max 97 last week because the sizing is way too narrow and no half sizes. Has Air Max 97 always been that narrow? Sure I had a pair before and the fit fine.

  • +3

That website is awful. Completely awful.

    • That (profanity) nag screen to sign up is shitting me off

    • +1

You can filter by brand. It's only 1 page of NB. They had the milk tea for $110 and the Beige and White for $90 comes with extra maroon laces. The colour is more like Taro milk tea. Both looks so good. It only took 2 days delivery. I received yesterday.

2 pairs of 550 for less than the price of 1 and they are both current styles on the NB website.
