They should have cast Ryan Gosling as Goose's son :(

would a PS5 play the ultra HD 4k discs ?

    • +1

Yep! I've been watching all my 4k discs on my PS5

Ah the temptation after seeing the movie thrice at the cinemas …

There is no try, only do!

    Great Find thanks!

  • Great balls of fire that is a good price.

Good movies, good price but pretty bland steelbooks.

  • +1

I've seen it 5 times, that makes me an ace!

There will be a 3rd so I’m sure they’ll be a superfan pack with all three one day.

  • Haven't made the jump from blu-ray to 4K yet, my projector maxes out at 1080p for a 120" image and does a great job with high bitrate content. Missed Maverick in the already minimal cinemas near me. So .mkv on USB and a projector at home was suffice. Currently using Edifier speakers from this deal: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/787728

Like many others Top Gun: Maverick was the first film I ventured out to go and see "after" the pandemic was lessened (it's still ongoing, nobody talks about it now though argh lol). Funny thing is the film I saw pre COVID pandemic was Rambo: Last Blood - so quite the leap in quality from film to film.

I enjoyed it to the point where I saw it a few more times at the cinema. Then (thanks to impatience) got the digital version when that released AND months later got the 4K version when that released. I overlooked how "iffy" the storyline was for the action (very 1980's!). I still like it, but I wouldn't say it was the 10/10 I thought it was initially, solid 7-7.5 though!

Seen this seven times in VMax Cinema and twice on digital screenings. Got the duo disc set and individual 4ks. Haven't watched it in 4k disc yet, but what a movie.

An absolute love letter to aviation.

It's now time to open my hoarded 4k disc and let the neighbours feel the jets landing on the aircraft in Maverick.

If it is ever screened again in the cinema, I'll be going to every screening.

    Got one! Thanks OP :)

  • Yep,. no though needed, have both already as 4k - so now have spares ).

  • I don't need this at all but I still want it…
edit - i don't even have a device to play the damned discs!

    • Xbox one S, One X, Series X and PS5 will all play it

Do you have any of those by chance?

      • -2

Series X doesn't play 4K Blu-Rays. I know because I have tried myself. It heats up an insane amount and has problems with stuttering and audio desync. Also sounds like a jet engine.

          Series X definitely plays 4K Blu-rays.

Source: Played many 4K Blu-rays on my Series X.

          • @Guybrush57: Did you buy your Series X recently or around launch? I've read posts on Reddit where people have had similar issues to myself. I am not sure if it was the discs I was using either, but they were brand new from JB, Spider-Man 1-3 in 4K?

            • @mu11yy: Sounds like a problem pretty specific to you.
I was using my One X as my primary player for about 5 years and even it never heated up or sounded like a jet engine while playing it.

The disc drive and blu ray app are identical on the Series X and I've watched many videos regarding its capabilities as a 4k player.

            • @mu11yy: Day 1

        • It heats up an insane amount and has problems with stuttering and audio desync. Also sounds like a jet engine.

Just like Tom Cruise in this movie :)
