Free Qantas Frequent Flyer Membership @ Qantas App

350

I was setting up the Qantas app on a new phone and noticed that it offered a 'Join QFF for free' option (usually $99.50, not that anyone should be paying that!).

This is probably the only way to obtain a QFF membership for free, without using a link from a third party (like this, this or this).

I am pretty sure it has always been free.

Still can't believe (or maybe I can believe) that Qantas are pulling this stunt after all the bad press of recent years. Still wanting to annoy potential new loyalty customers by charging them $100 to sign up then possibly finding out later on they could have signed up for free.

Yeah, I would love to know what % of people actually pay for this. I'm hoping it's 0% but bet it's more.

Because the exchange rate they give us is terrible. Yes, you earn Qantas points, but it’s not good value. There are many other cards that give a better rate.

I'm not forcing you to use the card. I just carry cash personally. Was just saying if you get one of those cards it doubles as a QFF card anyway.

You literally said to load up the card with foreign currency and now you say you’re not forcing me to use the card? wtf. You just contradicted yourself. I don’t need the card, I was just merely pointing out it’s not a good card to load foreign currency onto.

I think the wholle $99.95 thing had gotta be a tax break for something. Literally no one pays it.

Maybe, if your top tax bracket is 100% or more…

  • This is cool, but how do you get free membership AFTER you already signed up to QFF?
I signed up and got a 2 week free trial, then it expired. I signed up for a NAB CC for Qantas points and linked to my same QFF account.

There's no such thing as a "free trial", there's a fee to join, or there isn't. Once you've joined, you've joined.

    • You don't have a free Amex card that gives you Qantas points on spend? You don't ever get petrol at BP for free QFF points? (Or spend the Amex card at BP to get double points?)

So Qantas wants to rip you off, devalue your points, provide apalling service, make OS FF seats as rare as hens teeth, double charge your card, cancel your flights AND charge you to get access ? Joking, surely!! Bring back the leprechaun and PUT HIM IN JAIL!

  • it is always free with woolies rewards link. I made my account using that.
