Lol @ Fitness First charging joining fees…

Prepare for a never ending number of spam phone calls (at least from my experience.)

    • The last deal I found for a gym was anytime and it didn't have the 20% off this does…

Do not join Goodlife Gym, read the reviews and what they do to people even after they try to cancel their membership.
Do not join this gym unless you enjoy being ripped off for months after you’ve cancelled your membership.

so as they have heaps of clubs and have a membership that allows you to go to any of them and you dont need to ever cancel, then this must be a good deal.

@FredAstair: Not sure if you’re being sarcastic or not!
            I hope you are.

Having worked as a sales consultant at fitness first many years ago, can I just ask why you didn't simply unsubscribe? They have very strict rules to follow regarding contact of leads.

      • +1

        Oh dont worry i did
        Somehow they magically kept forgetting

        • +1

Understandable, I'd have reported them 👍

You can join but you can never leave….

Will they still charge you cancellation fees if you decide to cancel with the 28days?

      • Same question

        • I signed up - the agreement says only 7 day cooling off period, otherwise, its cancellation fee so I assume you should only take up the full 28days free if you intend to continue with the 12 or 18 month membership. Having said that probably on a case by case basis they might waive and allow you to cancel.

      • Yes, and they’ll even take sneaky amounts of money out of your bank account months after the fact, avoid this dodgy company like the plague.
Read the reviews on Google. They are absolutely shocking. And I had a personal experience, they sneakily took $90 out of my account three months after I used a trial pass.

      GoodLife absorbed fitness first fyi

      • Ah, I didn't know this

        • +2

GoodLife is a good gym if you can get a good deal. $15 a week is pretty decent if you make use of all the facilities

  • +11

So they created a fake fee then removed it, wow bargain.

    • downvote the scam…

    • +2

This. Joining fees are complete & utter bullshit.

  • +3

But they do hit you with an "Account Service Fee" every 13 weeks… "they only join once, but we can service them forever"

    • How much?

    • Sounds like my girlfriend

  • Fitness First owned by Goodlife I believe

    • Yea same website and same promo

      • How do I merge the posts? I'm not a web admin

  • Shocked they're still in business

    • *if you're in perth

  • Derrimut Gym opened up a location in Oakleigh (Victoria). Think I saw membership was $299. But looking at reviews, a lot of them start out all nice and fancy and then 6 months later, they turn to shit

      • thats a bit of a stretch

Go anywhere, but Goodlife Gym, they take sneaky amounts of money out of your bank account and keep taking money out, even after you think you’ve cancelled the membership.
Absolutely disgusting, read their Google reviews.
How they can still be in business is beyond me.

  • Be very careful of this company, read their reviews, they are horrendous. Let me tell you what happened to me several years ago, they had a two week free trial, so I went to my local Goodlife Gym to see what it was like,, I filled out preliminary paperwork and the young girl said I may as well put my bank account details just to save time for if I sign up.
I didn’t end up joining the gym and thought that was that.
About three months later I noticed $90 randomly taken out of my bank account, it was this gym chain. The amount of phone calls I had to make, and excuses I got, the runaround, trying to get my money back from the company they use to make deductions from people’s bank accounts was disgusting.
My suggestion is, have a separate bank account and keep the amount at zero and only put in what needs to be taken out each time if you become a member, and once you leave that Gym, close that bank account down, this company is dodgy as hell.

  • Goodlife might be the worst company I've ever had to deal with. They will lock you in and leaving will be a nightmare. They WILL keep taking money from you no matter what.
STRONG recommendation to look elsewhere. There are plenty of better gyms.
Mind you goodlife has decent facilities, it's not worth it.
