  • Are all on plastic spools, or can i specify plastic? @Professionaldreamer

    • I bought from them many times. All on plastic spools.

      • I think i had cardboard once, but it may be someone else?

        • Not idea mate. i got about 50 spools across a few orders the past few months but all were on plastic spools.

    "FREE shipping nationally wide.
Extra 10USD shipping fee for areas starting with 6 postal codes, and some parts of remote areas."

So it's not free shipping nationally wide then.

    • I'm not gonna buy from them while they still list here as "free nationally wide", and still having those exclusions for location. Makes me wonder what other BS is hidden in the process.

      Funny enough It's $11.27 cheaper with TOPH22 ($114.65 Delivered).

Anyone ordering from Kingroon directly at this point is asking for trouble, and also considering it's cheaper via eBay and you get eBay's 'Item not as described' protection if something was to go wrong (As well as other protections, eg. INR). Personally I'd rather go for eSUN or JAYO but that's because I don't trust Kingroon and because I have tried eSUN or JAYO before.

      • Whats that pricing for?
I got 10KG Kingroon PLA on AU Ebay, for $146 odd, plus $18 odd shippinng - $165 call it.
Kingaroon website, $138, with free shippping.

Trying to work out how everyone is saying Ebay is cheaper evenn with the TOP22 discount, it comes down to $133.

  • Does 'colour' also mean black and white?

Otherwise I'd probably get more value from the 5kg Black/white mix…

    • only white and black petg, no more pla left for white and black colors

      • Does this mean this "mix" would not be available if i email within hour of order?
        Silver PLA x 2
        Black PLA x 2
        White PLA x 2
        Dark Grey PLA x 1
        Purple PLA x1
        Orange PLA x1
        Green PLA x1

  • How good is their PETG?
Also how clean is the winding on the spool?
I'm a bit paranoid after some poorly loaded (but very cheap) HobbyKing spools.

      From my other comment:

Excellent petg for the price though, printed really well with my existing profiles on ender 3v2. Some spools needed drying first, but the box did get knocked around by auspost and I left the vacuum-sealed spools Ina cupboard for a few months until I could get another dry box set up. Dried up fine after leaving them in the drybox for a few days though.

Winding is maybe not quite as good as my standardprintco spools, but I've had no issues feeding it off the spools in my dry box. Manually pushing the ~0.5m of filament back onto the spools it tends to want to not roll back up as nicely, but by giving the filament a little twist as I feed it back in I can reliably coil it back up again.

I'm going to neg this one for a few reasons:

    • As Xoape has highlighted it's cheaper on eBay, and personally I'd recommend buying through eBay to ensure you're protected if there are any complications with your order.
    • Kingroon seem to have questionable business-practices and despite an issue being highlighted multiple times across their various deals on Ozbargain they continue to ignore and post new deals, likely hoping that the issue will go away eventually. Yes, the original person with said issue was able to get it resolved via PayPal but it should have been resolved without PayPal's intervention, and lets not overlook what would have happened if that user didn't use PayPal…. That's why I wouldn't buy directly from their site as you're reliant on the payment provider to assist if there are any issues (Which does take a while)
    • There are comments in similar deals where the user specified the colours and that wasn't fullfilled correctly. Kingroon appeared to make no attempt to communicate to the buyer that their preference(s) weren't available and to ask if they wanted to proceed with a slightly different order or cancel the order entirely before shipping the order - Exhibit A / Exhibit B. The response Kingroon sent was along the lines of 'Because we didn't receive an email from you', I could understand maybe 1 instance (As sometimes people stuff up email addresses) but 2? Bit more then a coincidence and seems to be a issue with their internal communication…
I can't stress how important it would be to use PayPal (if buying from their site) or eBay to protect against 'Item not received as advertised'

TL;DR: Either use PayPal (if buying from directly from their site) or use eBay

    • Valid neg.

My order from them was all good, got the colours I wanted, but there was no communication back from them for days, neither in response to my original colour choice email nor in response to a message here on Ozbargain.

It was only after I got the shipping confirmation that they responded to me saying that my order was the colours I asked for.

      • Thanks for that. What's your "drybox" setup?

An Ezy Storage 32L Waterproof IP67 Storage Container from bunnings

Two 12mm diameter aluminium rods going across clipped into 3d printed brackets, holding the spools on 3d printed roll holders, with spacers between. pneumatic PTFE tubing on couplers, one for each roll, to feed up to the 3d printer above.

2x 500g packs of mineral dessicant from https://pro-ex.com.au/

a hygrometer - got a ThermoPro and Govee bluetooth, the thermopro gives more information at a glance about the last 24 hours, govee is bluetooth so gives nice graphs.

Could get away without all the PTFE tubing and spool holders and just put the spools into the box with dessicant, but I like being able to change colours quickly without having to open a box and grab the next roll. 90% of the time when I'm done printing I can roll the filament back up onto the spool by pushing the filament back through the tube.

          • @OZKap: Nice drybox setup!
A few questions, does it hold 8 rolls and the dessicant, or is it too tight?
Calcium chloride drying "Regenerate at 250°C for at least 1 hour." Any issue with bags degrading at these temps?

            • @Quarn: 8 rolls and the dessicant fits great, but I'd like to build some kind of basket in the middle so the dessicant isn't just flopping around. Haven't had any issues with it yet though.

I haven't tried to regenerate the bags yet, I think tyvek is only good until 100c, so I was just planning to dry it at 80c

My original 3 bags I bought a year and a half ago and used in my first dry box are still doing well though, keeping humidity at a constant 12-13%, the new bags are more like 9-10%

          • @OZKap: Love the colour coded couplers!

            • @NigelTufnel: Thanks! The spool holders and spacers are the same colour too. Takes about 30g of filament and lets me see how well it prints before actually using it.

    • I concur. I bought last time and didn't get the colours I wanted. I included a disclaimer please cancel the order if they didn't have two of the critical colours I was after.

The value of the filament continues to be appealing. Cheap and decent quality from my limited testing. Regardless, glad you were able to highlight the poor customer service to warn ozbargainers. Good call on Paypal or eBay.

  • Only ordered once from kingroon and they took forever to send it.
Aside from that once it arrived (10x1kg black pla) I had 3 spools with issues in the thickness and it caused the filament not to go through the tubing so the print would be halfway and start printing air and ended up blocking the nozzle each time.
Very annoying and definitely won't be trying it again

  • FREE shipping nationally wide.
Extra 10USD shipping fee for areas starting with 6 postal codes, and some parts of remote areas.

These two shipping conditions are contradictory.

  • Received an email that black and white were out of stock. 6 rolls.

    • Black and white would be available in the coming week, if you'd like to wait.
