  • Anyone know what the cheapest data sim is even with slowed down data after a gb?

    • +1

Maybe the $25 for 22Gb plan which is Telstra 4G only

    • +1

      Dodo $10 per month

      • This sounds good

      • Optus lol and slows to 1Mbps after using 2gb data included.

        • It's fast enough for one person to browse the internet and watch videos in 480p SD resolution.

          • +2

@mysterytal: it's only fast enough when there isn't a global outage

          • @mysterytal: no, not 480p, 360p. 2 Mbps is good enough for 480p.

A lot of apps and food places won't even acknowledge you are using their apps with 1 Mbps shaped dl speed.

Based on that I had to port away from Dodo.

    • Vodafone 30gb $20 a month then unlimited at 2Mbps

Felix First 3 months is $20 a month
      Unlimited mobile data
      Then $40/month
Unlimited data at speeds up to 20Mbps
      Unlimited std talk and text
      Vodafone network

Thanks OP, I'll be going for this one.

I'm on Woolworths $59 5G plan that when I signed up for it gave me 60 GB/m. I only actually needed 30-35 GB/m, but I didn't want to run out. And I only paid that much because I got a 10% off shop each month.

I'll add the new $40 5G plan that gives me 55GB/m, and only costs $36 for Everyday members. Then transfer as much of my 500GB of accumulated data to it as I'm allowed to. Then close the $59 one. I'll still get a 10% off shop every month, I'll still get as much data as I actually need, and I'll save $23/m.

Now, how do I get my longstanding phone number transferred to the cheaper plan?

  • I am with Woolies. I get 95 gig for $45 month
PLUS another $15 to $20 off a shop.
So 95 gig for $25 ish.
Thought I was on 5g. Anyway better than this deal. Thought is was a standard offer.

  • I understand you can't transfer banked data from woolworths. You can transfer up to 50% of the current monthly data only. Typical woolworths con. Watch out picking a plan too. If you select $40 plan and decide to switch later to a $30 plan you lose all banked data

  • Looking at getting a dedicated modem and one of these plans, any tips re using a cheap Telstra 4GX modem (I don't need faster than solid 4g), or will I need to spring for a decent 5g modem to make use of it?

    • The modem might be locked to Telstra retail network (Boost and Telstra) if it is locked then you need to unlock it. Check eBay some sellers may sell unlock code or you would need to contact Telstra.

      • So if on "Telstra Wholesale Network" telstra branded/locked devices might not work!? (Sheesh Telstra, srsly?)
