  • price in title?

  • Price ($299) in title?

    Seems to be free delivery..

Does this unit have 3G. conflicting info on their page. Title mentions Wi-Fi, while I/O lists lists; Wi-Fi and 3G.

Edit: Actually MS601 seems to be the 3G modem as per; http://developer.motorola.com/products/xoom-mz601/

Great tablet, but one at this price 10 months ago. Not exactly a steal

  • the price is not too bad

  • I am not great when it comes to tech, so would really appreciate some help here if anyone has the time.

Why is this significantly cheaper than other 10.1 tablets? (why is it in the 7inch tab price range). I can see it's been superceded by a new xoom model, but it still seems awefully cheap.

    • for a 3G tablet … yes =)

      • -1

even then, I couldn't find many 10.1 inch tablets (wifi only) around that price. I would prefer not to have 3g to be honest. It's an extra I would need to pay to keep running and I have a mobile phone.

Not saying there aren't, but I just don't know about them.

edit: I mean from reputable brands… if you still count motorola as one of those.

        • Um, how about just not use the 3G ? Then it won't cost you anything to keep running.

        • Because I pay extra to begin with just because it is there… Wifi only models are generally cheaper.

        • The Xoom was one of the first Android tablet running Honeycomb - it is running quite dated hardware, hence it's price. It was also never really a hit success, compared to the Galaxy tablets and the iPad 2.

That's not to say it's a bad tablet, though. My mother uses one, and it's worked without a hitch from the day it was turned on.

An honest opinion, I think that if you want a tablet with long term support you should always think of nexus. I have a motorola phone and their updates are bad. And since android is a really fast evolving OS, each os iteration is really much better and thus better considering other company with a more consistent os update (PS: I am not sure if this tablet will get jelly beans)

edit: forgotten to mention that motorola is currently under google so can expect better updates.

It's so cheap because it's old technology. Best of all, it has official update to the latest version of Android.

  • normal price is $329 according to the website

  • This is xoom1 ? then i think this price is not so good better off with a small nexus 7

    • +2

Apples and oranges, I have a Nexus and it is much smaller than a 10", bigger difference than one would expect.

  • Have got this one and its amazing tablet for this price.
Anyone know better options for case?
    How about this one -

  • They are clearing off tablets, no new stocks for years. So it must be a very old stock.

Last time I bought one tablet from them, I doubted that it is a refurbished one or at least have been opened and repackaged. The tablet has a terrible power button. Returning or replacement negotiation seem like a joke. I would not buy tablet from Deals Direct any more, no matter how low the price is.

Great tablet, fast and powerful. Also the first GED (google experience device) tablet.

I was very happy with this tablet but it was too big for my needs, I sold it a few months ago for $320 and bought a Nexus 7.

I miss the XOOM but the Nexus 7 is more practical for my needs.

Don't be fooled by the XOOM 2, its the same specs as this made with cheaper components and lower quality to save money on production costs.

If you are looking for a big tablet, this wont disappoint.

good price. 3G should be in the title.

  • At this price Deals Direct is obviously targeting those haven't heard of nexus 7.

    • Well, for those that missed out on the previous $230 (after cashback) Lenovo 3G thinkpad tab deal, this is the next best thing.

  • mz601 is 3g and mz604 is only wifi

Great tablet. Our family has two. Good battery life. Upgradable to Jelly Bean.

  • Great tablet, have one already. Great price for the 3G model.

  • Great tablet, happily runs latest Android OS Jellybean (3rd party firmware). Have 2 myself and this is a great price for 3G, just hooked the old man up with this one.

  • I am wondering if the Android 4.1 version is available for Motorolla xoom?

    • Not officially yet, but just download a custom ROM. Motorola is the WORST for updates. check out http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=945

Took FOREVER to get official ICS (4.0) Downloaded a custom ROM for ICS over 6 months prior…

      • yeah, I know how you feel mate. I have a phone with them a year plus ago. Other countries managed to get the official gingerbread, but not here in oz. Not ever getting from them again. (but hopefully, they will be much better now since google bought them over)

Use code "WEMISSYOU" to get discount 10%, which make it down to $269.10. :D

    • I used this code. It showed that it worked but they charged me full money when I did transaction through paypal.

      • +1

I just tried it and it seems you have to enter the 10% code again right before confirming payment to make it effective.

        • i tried and it works and i paid via credit card and just checked my bank they only charged me 269.10, good deal!

      • Yes, you are right. That what had happened. However, I contact the customer support at the same time and i received an email in morning that they will refund me the 10 percent of amount(29 something).

So its eventually worked for me.

  • I am in the market for one of these with an overseas trip coming up shortly, can somebody with a bit more of an idea give an educated opinion on these verses the ipad 2?

    • Go for ipad 2 if you can get a 3g model at this price. But i doubt there will be another IOS update for ipad 2. But motorola is now owned by Google so updates seems more promising than apple.

  • Good deal but the site is trying to charge me $19.95 for delivery to 4825. I don't mind postage but the title says free delivery.

  • Ordered one for 269.10$ after 10% discount "WEMISSYOU" using PayPal! :-) Thanks double_J!

  • If you log in through shopandearn.com.au you can also earn Velocity points on this purchase.

    • OMG.. how did I not see this 23 hours ago? I visited the site during that time and somehow didn't notice it. Looks like I missed out. :(
