[iOS] ReciMe - Free Lifetime Subscription $0 (Was AU $59.99) @ Apple App Store

2480

UPDATED FEATURE - (1) scan recipes from cookbooks and (2) shared cookbooks

I co-founded the ReciMe app and I’d love to help you organise all your recipes in one place! ReciMe is free to download from the Apple App Store.

With the lifetime subscription, you can:

  • Import unlimited recipes from online recipe blogs
  • Scan unlimited recipes from cookbooks using OCR by uploading an image / taking a photo (NEW)

To access the free lifetime subscription, follow the steps below:

  • Download ReciMe for free on the Apple app store and sign up. Note: Do not sign up to the free trial after you sign up!
  • From your profile, go to Settings by tapping on the cog wheel icon.
  • Tap ‘Upgrade to ReciMe Plus’ and ‘tap on the X’ in the top LHS corner to close the page. This will take you back to the Settings page. Repeat this process 5 times until you see ‘ReciMe Plus Activated’ pop up.

As always, I’d love your feedback so please drop any comments! The scan feature is new so we’d especially love some feedback on this. If you’re enjoying the app, it would mean so much if you could give the app a review on the app store. Happy cooking! :)

      YAY! Happy cooking! :)

    • If you continue to enjoy ReciMe, it would be amazing if you could share a review on the app store. Thank you!

  • Sounds good, I’ve taken photos of various books at friends houses.

But I just skimmed through the privacy policy and it’s quite wishy washy. I can see this is a new app and so on so it’s not legally tight yet. But the App Store says it collects personally identifiable info (obviously for having an account), but the policy says they “may” use firewalls and encryption to store it and communication including while using the app “might” be unencrypted.
Just not convinced yet, might stick to taking photos then forgetting about them.

    • You worried about someone knowing your name and your favourite recipes?

  • For scanning - after taking the photo, it would be good if there was an option to select the recipe area. Otherwise I found it picked up ads or sections of other recipes that were in the photo (as not all recipes are in a nice rectangular area in a magazine).
    thanks

    • Thanks for trying out the scanning feature! That's a great idea, I'll share this with the team.

Currently, there is a 'preview' option to edit the text we pick up in the photo. You can manually delete the ad sections, before importing the recipe. Have you given this a go?

  • Does this work for non english websites?

    • It can, but it might not be accurate or the best experience. Our importing tool is optimised for English websites as it recognises English measurements and ingredients.

  • Looks great but I don't see the 'Upgrade to ReciMe Plus' - is it finished already?

Edit: err I'm a dummy, I signed up for the trial. Got working by cancelling subscription and creating account with different details :( Read the instructions people

Glad you worked it out! Let us know if you have any ideas or feedback, thank you!

  • Hey OP @homecookingaddict - I don't know you but thanks for sharing this. You are a true OZB legend.

    • Not a problem @lucioboi!

  • Looking forward to trying it - I've been a Paprika user for years, so looking forward to trying something new.

    • Amazing, I'd love to know what you think about ReciMe vs Paprika! Or if there's anything you like in Paprika that you'd like to see in ReciMe

Both my wife and I have downloaded app successfully and initial impressions are good. Particularly impressed by the multiple helpful responses from the developer here.

Agree privacy policy is quite weak. Two examples (my emphasis added) are "we MAY maintain computer and network security" and "Our Website, App, other applications, or email systems MAY NOT use encryption or other technologies to ensure the secure transmission and receipt of information" neither of which inspire any confidence in the operator. It's essential both are unequivocally positive statements for there to be any trust created. Some explicit mention of the Australian Privacy Principles wouldn't be a bad thing either.

I look forward to seeing more of the app and wish the developer well however some more attention to privavy and security would be appreciated.

    • Thanks so much for checking us out and for your feedback re privacy policy. We'll have a look and may make updates, thanks!

  • Is there a plan to add feature to export user data?

    • It's on our list! What format would you like your data to be exported in?

      • How about YAML?

  • A very neat way to offer promo subscription! I had fun following the steps! Will try out the app and leave a review. Thank you : )

    • Thanks so much & appreciate the review! :)

  • Great app! Question though… can we segregate vegetarian from eggitarian? I have people allergic to egg. Or may be an option to say I want recipes without ingredients x,y,z?

    • Thanks! We can't separate vegatarian from eggitarian. That's a cool suggestion - you can currently find recipes with specific ingredients, but not excluding them. Will add it to our list of feedback - thanks!

      • Appreciate it! Cheers!

  • Just wanted to say thanks to OP!

    • Thank you for checking us out! It would be amazing if you could leave us a review if you're enjoying ReciMe, cheers!

  • Looks amazing at first glance, imported a recipe as a trial from the web - took seconds & so cute with the ingredients icons and clearly laid out!

    • So glad you like the ingredient icons, it took some time compiling it all together. It'd be so helpful for our business if you could share a review on the app store, thank you!

  • Hey OP, nice app started using it. Using it on iPad, do you have a plan to make it usable in landscape? Depending on the case it would easier to stand it up and read the recipe in landscape.

    • Thank you for checking us out! Oh yes we definitely plan to do that, stay posted!

  • thought I’d be downloading another app I never use but this app is great. Does a great job saving recipes off random sites and making them more visually appealing. landscape version for iPad would be great for future update :)

  • Great app op. Me and my partner are using it now to save our recipes from the web.

A feature suggestion: would be nice to have “add notes” feature to add quick notes to a recipe without having to edit the recipe itself. Would be nice to see it at the bottom of the recipe for example once added. This would be really handy.

  • really enjoying this app OP - thanks very much for the opportunity and best of luck with it

  • Can't seem to get mine to activate, I've clicked on "Upgrade to ReciMe Plus" a good 50 times now

    Has this ended?

  • Can't activate mine too. Has the offer ended?

  • hi OP, is this still working? i cant activate also. thanks

  • Me three

  • Same - has it expired?

  • me 4

  • Noo I didn't see this until today, my partner's been using Recime for the past month and I've just jumped on it. Bummed that it's expired :(

  • Not working for me :(

  • Not working anymore for me either. Seen it for a while and only decided to do it now!

  • I've been trying to redeem this offer. I've pressed the upgrade button and closed it 5 times. I've tried this 3 times and have opened and closed the app multiple times. I'm just really not quite sure why this isn't working. I've tried the app and I absolutely love it, so I would really love this premium version.

  • Doesn’t seem to be working for me either. Will keep trying

  • It’s not working for me either.

  • expired? i missed it :( would love if i could still get the premium version please.

  • My access to premium got removed. Anyone else run into the issue?

    • Mine did the same today, but 5 minutes later it was working again without the subscription screen. Is yours working again?
Did have trouble another time but that was only because I didn’t login with the right account

    • +1

Yeah same. I did just close it from the background and it seems to recognise the premium again.

  • @homecookingaddict Damn I just missed it. I downloaded the app a while back and just signed up today while following your prompts above. I can't get the premium feature now can I?
