Don't forget to factor in the inflated price of laptops purchased from GG

    • Yeah… it kind of sets of alarm bells that you can get a 200+ item with an 800 purchase. This kind of deal screams that you should never consider buying from gg at a normal price of their margins are this massive.

  • Prices aren't bad to begin with - C7E84PA is $848 from TGG and $792 on Static Ice. Similarly, $1227 for C8B56PA from TGG and $1093 on StaticIce.

When you factor in negotiations and the Xbox bundle, definitely worth it. Though it is likely prices will fall in the lead-up to Christmas this is definitely the best deal around now.

    • I would recommend doing further research before committing to purchasing one of these HP laptops.
There might be laptops from other manufacturers that offer better value in terms of price and features.

If you're honestly happy that the HP laptops offered in this promotion is good enough then go ahead.

The problem is after you bought it no way to guarantee you are the first 400.

If not can I take it back for refund?

There is a "live" list of claims here:
      http://www.thegoodguys.com.au/buyonline/BonusOfferListView?cm_sp=Genpage--availability--Windows8xbox

I saw it go to 392, then 391 when I just checked now. Unless I was buying one of the last 2 or 3, then I think you would have a valid claim.

Agreed the prices might be steep to begin with, but unless it is more than $300 more than another, and you want an xbox 360, then it might be a bargain for some :)

      • …and you want an xbox 360…

But that's just it, who here has wanted an Xbox 360 and hasnt bought one yet. It's old and soon to be replaced, so I'd just rather $400 off (or even a store credit).

Good link though, when I just clicked on it the total is now 390.

        • I think the tougher question is 'who would want a HP notebook' but you never know :)

        • and soon to be replaced

          when ?

  • They have just overpriced the laptops by the price of the XBOX

    Geez!!

    • Can you cite an example? My search for 2 models against the cheapest on Static Ice showed no price hike at all.

      • this B3K25PA and its not even windows 8 so I guess they are still going to rack up the price for a windows 8 machine

        Good guys = 1624
        staticice = 1513

        • $111 for a Xbox 4GB with Kinect is a very good deal.

But I suspect the $111 is the normal markup for bigger retailers, I don't think it's exorbitant or sneaky just because of the Xbox bundle. Plus, you can always negotiate the price.

        • Plus, you can always negotiate the price

i doubt they'll negotiate while this deal is on…

        • I reckon it will be more than 111$ difference

the real value would be TGG price = 1624 + ( win8 BS ) + something to cope up for the free xbox ( if true )

  • Dont get me started on HP. We just bought a notebook for my dad and it has a dead pixel but they wont even replace/fix it unless there are at least 4/5 dead pixels all together.

Pretty much paying top price for a defective product.

  • hmm nothing exciting for those ones :(
i want a touchscreen/tablet style with full windows 8 (not windows RT)
thinking Samsung Smart PC Pro or Sony Vaio Duo …if anyone sees any please post! :D
