    • I have been waiting for this to go on sale, it never does.

      https://www.bunnings.com.au/pinnacle-900-x-1350-x-540mm-timb…

      • +1

At that price you might as well weld one!

    • +2

What is the top on the workbench, metal?

    • Says $65 for the Workbench for me.

    • Plenty of the 5-shelf at Nunawading, thanks for the link! They're in a promotional area so I had to be directed there by staff.

    • $20 per tier it seems. Also decided to go with the extra tier. 2 staffs were helping me get it into my hatchback car, considering it's quite weird in size to handle it myself. They also shared safety tips for transporting the shelves. Safe and sound home.

Thinking to get another set. Will see after setting up this one.

      • The price changed just by the time I decided to get another set lol

been looking garage shelving, what do people think about the shelves without holes

    ie https://www.shelvingsunnybank.com.au/shop/connecting-units/5…

    • -1

      The shelves won’t have holes

      • +2

Maybe holes is the wrong word - but those shelves look like a wire mesh.

    • +4

I have both non mesh and mesh garage shelves. prefer the ones with wire mesh.. tools can be hung off the sides (although this particular model sides look too thick to do this from the photos). Pair with some cheap carabiners, you can hang anything: bags, helmets, etc.

    • depends how much dust you have in your garage.

    • +1

MDF shelves will get dusty, some people don't mind, but I do and therefore would totally avoid.

Dust would fall through mesh shelves either on to the tools or floor, just dust if off as you use the tools or when vacuuming.

Sure, dust doesn't disappear, but less unsightly.

      • +1

the one i linked looks like metal sheets

      • My MDF shelves get mouldy. I need to paint them to last.

    • +3

Just bought a bunch of these. Love them.
Local warehouse had blue/white, they look so professional and strong. Better than anything Bunning had in quality vs price. Highly recommend.

      • Agreed.

EBay have some suppliers that often participate in the 15-17% off coupons which make them a great deal if you live close enough to a pick up site and don’t have to pay freight.

        The extra depth on the 600-640mm shelves is an absolutely godsend and game-changer. Plenty of commentary about these metal racking shelves in previous shelving deals, such as;

        • +1

i actually like the 500mm depth ones to give more space to the car

          • @SS625: Fair point. The 400/500/540mm deep units can be handy depending on your use case.

Whilst I have 600mm on the bulk of mine, I also use some shallower units along one section of the garage to allow room for a car to drive through to the backyard. Which is also part of the reason why I infinitely prefer the deeper units for practical usage (alongside the flat metal sheets with support bar vs the mdf or wire mesh shelving).

    • these are much better than this Bunnings one.

      • +1

Haha. Not at 150kg per shelf! Bunnings one is 625kg matey..

        • i checked this Bunnings one before buying. It was hard to believe they support 650kg per shelf.

          • @CrypticM: says in the description

This heavy duty 4 tier adjustable shelving unit has a black powder coated finish and a total weight capacity of 625kg per shelf. Great for heavier items.

but yea hard to think the frame can hold 2.5T of weight…..

    • -1

150kg per shelf.. lol. Hard pass

      • what do you usually put ? for me 150kg seems alot

      • -2

150kg per shelf.. lol. Hard pass

Yeah, what are you putting on these shelves that weighs more than 150kg? Even my Dumbbell rack with 5 pairs of dumbbells comes in under 150kg. I can't think of anything I own other than the car that weighs more than that.

        • +1

It adds up fast enough with the width of the rack.

I also wouldn't be cutting it fine to the load limit with the piss poor quality control and inaccurate load ratings that often apply these days. The Pinnacle may also be inaccurate or low quality, but one would think it still has higher capacity given it's supposed to be 4x stronger per shelf.

You also lock yourself out of some nice tool storage trays or chests, but even without this my point stands

Heck, with enough space I'd probably also put my spare roof tiles on a shelf. Ok actually they might go directly on the floor under the first shelf IF this unit lets you do that (it might require the bottom shelf to brace the unit and prevent the columns buckling). Cleans up my yard a bit. So yeah, not that hard to find things

          • @justtoreply: You didn't really answer the question. I'm genuinely curious what you would put in a shelf that weighs more than 150kg? You'd need a lot of roof tiles to get there. I've got some lying around here and just calculated that I'd need 43 of them to reach the shelf limit. Can't imagine many people are keeping that amount of roof tiles around for emergencies.

            • @1st-Amendment: I did answer. My tool chests and tools would hit that. Not going into this further.. you don't wanna believe me or take stock of the other things I said, go ahead, your prerogative

              • @justtoreply:

My tool chests and tools would hit that.

You have 150kg of tools on one shelf?
You must be the man with a thousand spanners…

                • +1

@1st-Amendment: No, chest and tools together. A good tool chest is heavy and yes stacked full of stuff both in and on top. Just came back to tell you that your weights, if I did my maths correctly, and if they're a point load, you can only go up to 75kg. That's assuming it fails in bending which may not be the case. To be honest real world failure is often in the connections or buckling regardless of what the numbers say. Regardless this unit is way too border line.. spend $50 more and get something rated higher.

                  • @justtoreply:

A good tool chest is heavy

Well I have a 'good' tool trolley and it weighs 60kg. I doubt the 7 drawers full of tools weighs more than 90kg, but I haven't weighed it lately.

spend $50 more and get something rated higher.

It only needs to be rated as high as the maximum thing you intend to use it for. If that is less than 150kg per shelf then save your money.

    • +1

      I have both types.

Definitely go for mesh. You can always slot some MDF in over the top if you need a solid base.

      • the one i linked seems to come with metal sheets

        • Depends if you need/want airflow

    • Are these like Rack-It clones? Look very similar.

    • I ended up buying 5 shelves and a workbench from bunnings! was a workout putting them into the car

      • Which ones did you buy

        • the bunnings one in the main link and a bench…..

I went to check out the sunnybank shelves and find the quality isnt so good… the metal sheets are really thing and worry about rusting later

  • I saw this last night, but it is showing $138.20 in VIC. Even still, it is pretty cheap.

  • +1

I/N Code is #2581012 for when Bunnings craps itself.

  • The wider versions are still full price 😔

    • thanks. This is better. wider but narrower. perfect for my garage

      • +3

Wider but narrower?! That's a head scratcher

        • +2

Wider but narrower?! That's a head scratcher

'Wide' is the width, 'narrow' is the depth. The other dimension not mentioned is height. These are the 3 dimensions of the physical world.
          Hope this helps.

        • -2

the first one is 1200mm wide x 540mm deep. the 2nd is 1500mm wide x 410mm deep. Therefore 2nd one is wider and narrower. but yes you can say wider and shallower too.

          • @yellowfever: Narrow is the opposite of wide. So no, you can't say it's wider and narrower.

      • +1

Just note that this one is "only" 180kg per shelf, not 625kg per shelf as per the one from the OP.

    • +1

Is this on sale? What is the original price?

  • +1

    This or RackIt?

    • +4

Rack It is better by far.

    • I have 3 sets of Rack It shelving and I didn't think I would ever be this excited about shelving. They are fantastic, strong and so versatile. I would also stick with the metal shelving suport rather than MDF especially if your garage gets a lot of moisture as my MDF shelving is a bit mouldy and weathered whilst the metal wire shelves still look brand new.

  • Legend! Have been waiting for these to come on sale - bought three from Alexandria in Sydney

  • Nice, pity I bought the Giant brand from Catch in December https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/823319

I was waiting for a pinnacle deal. Having said that, the Giantz are not nearly as bad as I expected per the comments. There fibreboard is super thin but I'm putting mostly lightweight stuff and I don't feel like it will tumble. I have other similar shelving which really does feel flimsy in comparison.

  • +2

Spend the extra money and get a Rack-it configuration and you can slap absolutely anything in it, any time.

Do not be like me and get burnt by Pinnacle and their lack of assistance - I went to buy a slab of MDF + additional shelf but was denied - This is from their FAQ Here.

Q: Can I purchase additional shelves for my shelving unit?
A: No. Each unit has been designed for a set number of shelves only. The addition of extra shelves or modification to the unit will void the warranty.

Just give me a shelf already, I'm not worried about a warranty on a $100 shelf

    • +1

Warranties are not just refunds and replacement, its also implicit warranty that the piece of crap frame wont buckle and crash on you if you add a 5th shelf and load it up.

    • +2

buy a second $100 shelf and get all 4 extra shelves. turn the 4 shelf unit into a 5,6,7 or 8 shelf unit.

  • +1

Anyone had these outside in a covered area and last ok?

    • I'd like to know as well

    • +2

I have had these inside a garden shed for 3 years. Used to store power tools. Still going strong.

  • I have a couple of MDF versions of these shelves and they must be 15 years old now. They've been relocated interstate and setup at a few different houses. At one location a few of the shelves got rained on so needed to be replaced, but it was just a matter of getting some MDF to the same dimensions.

I did also buy the nice Pinnacle work bench recently (not the cheap one listed here) so kinda glad it's not on sale.

  • Damn, paid 97 for this last weekend https://www.bunnings.com.au/pinnacle-2090-x-1200-x-540mm-5-t…. It’s dropped to 90 now. Would have bought mesh one at this price point.

  • -1

spend $30 more get shelves from Facebook market place( like sunny bank shelving like posted above). very sturdy and better than these.

  • Just a FYI for other, these do not stack up to 4 units high. Got way too wobbly.

    • +1

Level out the footings with packers. (I used 90x45 or 90x35 offcuts)
Depends how far out of level your floor is.

      Heavy items on the bottom.

  • +2

Bit annoyed they don't do the 1830 x 2090 x 540 anymore, wanted to add another.
I have some of those and the extra width is great. Fits 5x 52L plastic tubs across perfectly. 1200mm wide isn't quite the right width for 3x tubs.

  • Personally, I went with this after a recommendation from another OzBargainer on a similar deal. Would recommend again.

    https://www.superrack.com.au/shop/longspan-shelving/bs2060-1…

  • damn! how do these compare with the pinnacle non-heavy duty range?

Other than heavy duty rating, anything else I'm missing?

Note I bought the non heavy duty as the MDF boards meant I could store smaller items without them falling through the holes

Edit: I have the 1500W so that's +1 to the non heavy duty

  • I bought these the other day, yet to arrive in stock for me to collect though: https://www.mitre10.com.au/garage-selecttm-4-shelf-boltless-…

  • Can I split these into a bench?

    • +1

the poles seems to be 1 piece…. they do sell a 2 level bench $90

    • People have done this before yes. In the reviews section of one of the pinnacle shelves, someone had cut it in half and was using them for plants.

  • no wire shelf ones at alexandria nsw. padstow nsw has 10+ 2090H, 5 shelves, supposedly a clearance line

    • Nearly 4000 clicks might have something to do with that.
Nothing at all left in the ACT.

  • I got this in $159 last month. I have one pass. Does anyone know if I could get the difference refunded as technically onepass offers change of mind returns?

    • -1

Are you sure it's this exact one that you got for $159 last month? Because Pricehipster shows as $189 the price last month.

      • Just checked my receipt it was actually Jan but the exact one I believe.
        https://postimg.cc/pyB74G7G

        • +2

buy this one and return it with the old receipt. if doesnt work just return the new one. no risk

  • Marketplace has shelving dirt cheap all the time. I know new vs used but if we're talking about shelves..

    • Cheaper than this? In good nick?
