Get yourself a Mo (or 12) for Movember even if you can't grow your own but be aware that Meritline stuff can take 3-4 weeks to arrive so you may just miss out on the Movember celebrations with this deal :(
Only 400 packs available and deal expires tomorrow so get in quick! Take a pack to the pub and see how many you can trade for drinks :P
Mod note: This product is in no way associated with the Movember event, nor does the charity benefit from its purchase.

Last year's support was pretty poor IMO.
They gave you a free burger between 2pm & 3pm. For most people this would be an unattainable burger due to work or school - perhaps you could label it the forbidden burger. If my memory serves, they gave really good support 2 to 3 years ago with a burger at any time of day.

I wish mine could be contained to a single receptacle or even a room. I have several rooms & sheds devoted to stuff best meeting the description of 'that might come in handy one day'!
FWIW, these items rarely get used for their intended purpose; mostly just buffered for a 5-yearly turf-out!
SteveAndBelle on 08/11/2012 - 08:06 ¶Same here although the stuff I don't end up using I usually 'turf out' in the diection of a charity bin where I know it'll be appreciated.

+1 voteclandestino on 08/11/2012 - 09:33 ¶because you needed your next Ozbargain hit. And this one was cheap !
+24 votesIsn't the point of Movember to raise awareness and funds for a good cause?
Instead of throwing away $1 on this rubbish, why not donate your dollar to Movember instead?
SteveAndBelle on 08/11/2012 - 06:39 ¶Completely agree. Even this post is great marketing for the charity, look at how many times the word 'Movember' has been used already :)
Explosions_Hurt on 08/11/2012 - 12:09 ¶Did you know that you have to sign a stat dec to sell your child on the open market?
Bureaucracy!

Good point, though I had also thought that you could buy a pack, sell each mo to friends for $2 and raise more money that way. Or use them as tickets for a fund-raising mo party. A way for those of us with the wrong chromosome to grow our own mo to raise money for a good cause.
Edit: Oops, didn't scroll down and see someone else stole my brilliant idea before I even had it.
Explosions_Hurt on 08/11/2012 - 12:08 ¶You sound unscrupulous.
You should be promoted to moderator.
-1 voteExplosions_Hurt on 08/11/2012 - 12:07 ¶Mate, the point of Movember is to let your hygiene slip, and to actually be paid for it!
This post is now accepting up-votes.
+1 voteSteveAndBelle on 08/11/2012 - 08:02 ¶Yes, but as per my description and all the comments posted here I highly doubt you'll get them in time for this Movember sorry. Keep them for Movember 2013 for sure and your money raising idea is exactly what I had in mind for these too… or to try to trade them for free beer at the pub :P
Shame the people running Movember don't cotton on to this idea and sell their own better quality versions to raise even more money for their cause.

or to try to trade them for free beer at the pub
Unfortunately, they don't come with a Merv Hughes moustache
+4 votesThink of this as a $1 investment for next year. Investment you say? Yes, because for each person that's seen wearing a dodgey yet humorous mo, it spreads awareness of Movember but also may encourage people to donate. Thus, turning $1 into a worthy investment and marketing / awareness tool.
Besides, it's only a $1, which is less than what some people pay for coffee every day.
-2 votesclandestino on 08/11/2012 - 09:00 ¶What has happened to my beloved ozbargain :(
come on guys. Is this a bargain? or is it just a cheap novelty item with practically zero value?
clandestino on 08/11/2012 - 09:17 ¶Come on ??!! Please tell me that your idea of a bargain isn't the discount off RRP !!!!!
lol.
clandestino on 08/11/2012 - 09:28 ¶Yes I am having trouble letting go of this one. ha ha.
No, I didn't say that at all in my post. My logic is simply this. If someone comes up to me in the street selling a random item for 80% off RRP, I won't automatically buy it.
Instead I'll look at the item and decide whether or not it is really worth it.
Going further along your line of logic… if a person sets an asking price of $800k for their house, but it sells at auction for $500k…. then clearly the buyer got a massive bargain??? lol.
clandestino on 08/11/2012 - 09:47 ¶sorry, when I say RRP I mean "regular price".
You got me on that technicality. But still, RRP or regular price - my point is still valid.
clandestino on 08/11/2012 - 10:05 ¶no it doesn't.
The fundamental flaw in your argument is your earlier statement that "value is subjective". The market economy works on exactly the opposite principal… that value can be measured and assessed, and prices can be derived from that value.
edit- lets just be friends. I'm getting bored ! lol.

Yeah, it does…I'm not sure if you realise that you're the only one here that thinks you're right? :p
There's no flaw, (market economy - WTF - can I get plastic mo' futures?) it's actually a fairly simple binary choice test:
Is it significantly cheaper than you can get it from the same place or competitor on any given day? If:
Yes: It's a bargain!
No: It's not!Q.E.D. :)
We're cool BTW, I just like a good debate! ;)
+3 votesSteveAndBelle on 08/11/2012 - 09:31 ¶Ha, yeah. Amazing how emotional people get about a silly 99c deal :)
clandestino on 08/11/2012 - 09:31 ¶46 positive votes now ?!
"Has the whole world gone crazy ??!!!"
(said in the voice of walter sobchak - The Big Lebowski)
+1 voteSteveAndBelle on 08/11/2012 - 09:41 ¶Damn, they're STILL available! I'm busting to mark this deal as 'Expired' just to save one of you from having an anxiety attack :P Maybe I'll just mark it as Expired anyway, hmmm.
Calm down, calm down! Sheesh. Too funny :)
clandestino on 08/11/2012 - 10:00 ¶Sorry but you're too late !!!! I can't handle it any more ! ha ha…. :)
I just clicked on the deal. Sadly, meritline are continuing their recent trend of not including a youtube instructional video, accompanied by lobby-style backing music.
+4 votesSteveAndBelle on 08/11/2012 - 09:56 ¶Righto, I've just sent the following email off to the organisers of Movember:
"Just thought you may want to see this: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/84070
I posted that deal in good faith late last night… I mean c'mon, who wouldn't want a pack of Moustaches for only 99c :) Nevertheless it seems to have stirred up a lot of emotions & opinions because I mentioned 'Movember' in the title (the moderator added his disclaimer in afterwards).
Further down in the comments I mentioned the fact that you guys should make your own official fake Mos and sell them off to raise even more money plus allow others including the gals to join in the good cause. Maybe a dollar each and in a few designs including a 'Merv'? I suggest no Hitler versions though… we all have scissors if we feel the need to do that :P
I hope the deal in the link above is enough to turn this into a reality as I personally think it would be an awesome fund raiser."
Fingers crossed…

+1 voteSteveAndBelle on 09/11/2012 - 11:19 ¶… and just for the record here's the reply I just received:
"Thanks so much for your email and support for Movember.
We really appreciate you thinking outside of the Mo about different ideas to get involved with Movember.
However we here at Movember like to keep it real. The idea behind having our Mo Bros enduring the stubble trouble of growing a Mo, is that for the whole month of Movember, the moustache becomes a walking and talking billboard that raises awareness for men’s health. It is the hairy flag our Mo Bros wave proudly that sparks conversation (not to mention admiration) from all who behold it. A fake Mo just doesn’t not have the same effect.
We still encourage everyone to get online and register to be part of Movember and help spread the word, whether you’re growing a Mo or not. Awareness, education and support are equally important to the cause. Ladies too can register as a Mo Sista to help support the Mo Bros in their life by raising donations, starting a team, hosting fundraisers and of course providing words of encouragement.
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask, and we look forward to having you on board the hairy Mo train!
Mo-ver and out"

+1 voteSteveAndBelle on 08/11/2012 - 11:28 ¶Just get the image off the website, enlarge it, print them out and glue them on her face then tell her that there's a surprise coming in the mail in a few weeks :P Now that's the true OzBargain spirit!
RainbowHands on 08/11/2012 - 11:39 ¶wont u get these by the time movember is over?

SteveAndBelle on 08/11/2012 - 12:40 ¶Ahhh, OUT OF STOCK. Awesome, this deal is now 'EXPIRED' (took long enough) :P

Got some last time for literally no reason. Not gonna lie, they are pretty dodge.
Still no regrets in my purchase.
