Lenovo Legion R45w-30 44.5" DQHD 165hz VA Gaming Monitor $899 C&C /+ Delivery + Surcharge (Bonus $100 Mwave Dollars) @ Mwave

520

Looks like an ATL by about $100 as far as I can see, plus you get $100 Mwave store credit (not sure on conditions for use of that). Google said delivery was going to be $14.95. Also looks to be a somewhat boosted cashback of 1.7% (from normal 0.6%) at CashRewards today.

Surcharges: 1% Card & PayPal.

Alternately you may be able to price-beat at OW if a store near you has stock (which is what I did), or try a price-match at JB, HN, Bing Lee, etc.

I have only just ordered it so can't provide any first hand feedback, but it has everything I am after in a super-ultrawide monitor and reviews look good. Copy and paste of the features summary from a previous post below, some of which I have updated with extra info:

  • This monitor has a 44.5” DQHD, 32:9, ultra-wide, 1500R curved display with a 5120 x 1440 resolution.
  • It features a 165 Hz refresh rate and 1 ms response time.
  • It's compatible with 100 x 100 VESA mounts.
  • It has 2 x in-built 3 W speakers.
  • It has 2 x HDMI 2.1 ports, a DisplayPort 1.4 port and 1 x USB-C port, 1 x 3.5 mm AUX, RJ45port and includes a DP and a USB-A to USB-B cable.
  • Enjoy the convenience of single-cable docking and simultaneous 75 Watts charging using our fully-equipped USB-C port.
  • Enjoy completely stutter-free gameplay, powered by AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and Adaptive Sync technologies.
  • Boost your productivity to new heights by harnessing a range of tools such as True Split, KVM, and PIP/PXP.
  • A 3 year warranty is included for your peace of mind.

    It's 170hz not 165

    • +8

165 native, 170 overdrive which has to be manually selected and only last for 30 minutes. Also potatoes/potatos.

      • only last for 30 minutes

        Seriously?

@djkelly69: If it's anything like the RF25F-30, then it'll revert back in 30mins automatically, and there's nothing you can do about it - idle or not. You can turn it on manually again but it's very frustrating if you're in a game, wouldn't recommend using it for an extra 5hz. It's basically a marketing tickbox.

i wish i can last that long

Why is this named like engine oil

    • It's synthetic

      • Stranger things have happened, its engine oil backwards

    • +1

Let me put my tin foil hat on. It's because the monitor has a viscosity of 45 at low temperatures and 30 at normal running temperatures.

It must be the same department that created the McLaren MP4-12C name.

    • +5

Ultrawide screen. You know what I mean.

      • +2

I change my monitors, but not my brand of monitors.

  • +2

Not a fan of the resolution, almost as hard as 4k to drive

    • +1

      its 2024, you still can't drive 4k?

      • +3

Yeah but not for games at 175hz sadly, can't all get a 4090

        • oh. I didn't realize you meant 175hz 4k. Can't you just do a lower framerate, 4k 60/90?

          • +1

@killingtime: yeah totally, not much point in the monitor though, definitely worth saving a few bucks and getting something 1440p and being able to run high fps there.

this is definitely for those with a 4090 or close

      • I play everything on 1080p medium - low. Disposable income is not good atm.

  • +3

2 x 24 inch side by side equivalence

  • Bigger is always better for curved ultra wide.

You have to use the mwave store credits within 6 months. Otherwise, it will expire.

I reckon price beat at Officework may be the best option because you can get another 5% off and use 10% off ultimate gift cards plus flybuys points.

    • +1

      plus flybuys points.

5x flybuys points if you have OnePass…

  • The improved pixel density in the QHD ultrawide class is welcomed, and the response time is decent for VA without being spectacular.

Even at an effective $799, I'm not sure this is the play, but it's solid value for those who can make the most of the typical use case (non-HDR productivity workflow with some gaming on the side).

  • These are not gaming panels, the black smearing is intolerable.
Might be okay for excel spreadsheets and day trading.

    • +1

Might be okay for excel spreadsheets

Nah, when you do pivot tables, the black smearing is intolerable.

  • +2

Has all the bells and whistles, even included a KVM switch. Damn…

  • Whats the better choice? Officeworks price match ( 5% and flybuys) or mwave and its $100 credit?

    • I would go mwave credit. I want a ssd though

    • +2

I just price matched at officeworks. Its $901 (after 5%) as they have to consider shipping cost as this is an online only deal. I still went through knowing officeworks is good at returns if there are any issues.

      • +3

OW beat the $899 for me, no shipping asked about or added! YMMV

        • Can you please share the officeworks URL?

I couldn't find on their website.

It's hard to compare monitor sizes sometimes, so here is a good site to help visualise the monitor size: https://www.displaywars.com/44,5-inch-32x9-vs-27-inch-16x9

I own a 27 inch, so it's slightly shorter, but almost twice as long

    • If they're both "x9" how are they different heights?

      • Ratios. 32x9 and 16x9 is the ratio of the monitor, not the height/length.

    • thanks for the link. really helpful.

    • That link is a great help, I have a 43" TV as a monitor, thought this would be more real estate, but it is much less!

      https://www.displaywars.com/44,5-inch-32x9-vs-43-inch-16x9

  • I'm running a 4k 34" non curved Ultra wide + a 24" today. Both are quite old. I'm a software dev, no gaming or graphics works. Would this be an upgrade?

    • What 34" monitor is 4k?

      • Sorry, it's 3,440 x 1,440

    • I was thinking the same, but then I prefer monitor that can be used portrait to read the console log. May be I'll buy this and use the old one as portrait.

  • Any recommendations for USB-C Gen2 that supports 5120x1440 @ 165 Hz and power delivery ?

  • What would be a good monitor/ configuration the add to this as a second monitor? Height of this R45 is kinda short.
