+1 voteHi Matt, that's correct: no penalty applies if you wish to conclude at the end of the promotional period. The prices then defer to the standard (meanwhile, still competitive) pricing for these plans, $14.95 + GST for the Personal Plan and $29.95 + GST for the WebApp Plan.
The offer extends only to Windows Server 2012 and does not extend to any Linux OS at this stage.

Edit: Rather thin skin, whoever negged me. It was a genuine question, just wanted to double check, but I guess you've answered it. :P

Do shout when you do decide to extend it to a linux guest os. :)

Hi TortyFoo, while we seek to offer a largely uninhibited server availability, operation of game servers is against the "Use of the Services" segment of our Terms and Conditions. See http://www.web24.com.au/web24/111/terms_and_conditions.html (paragraph 6.10) for more details. It is notable that there is a limit of 50-200GB (depending on the offer selected and the referrals provided) traffic per month for inbound and outbound use of these virtual servers.
+3 votesFair enough. Shame as that is my main reason to get a VPS. Note when I said simple I really meant simple as is a sports simulation effectively turn based with 1 turn every 10 seconds and rarely more than 1 or 2 games running at the same time. Even running 24/7 all month would be well under the 50Gb traffic limit.
+1 voterldowling03 on 21/11/2012 - 23:13 ¶As per their Terms and Conditions no:
6.10 The Customer must not run Game Servers or Game Server related applications on any Web24 service

Hi Shab, We can apply a factory reset in the event that you require it, but please be aware that should this take place, all data would be cleared.
A managed backup solution is available with this offer as a supplementary feature. Setup is a one-off charge of $9.95 + GST and the monthly charge is $19.95 + GST. Managed backups are performed daily with 14 days retention. This is an option on page 3: "Add-ons" from the ordering process.

As it is a Windows server, each hypervisor is ring-fenced and, as such, the stress and strain that you place on the CPU is restricted to its own limitations. Utilisation of these servers is subject to the Web24 Terms and Conditions, available at http://www.web24.com.au/web24/111/terms_and_conditions.html.

SpaceNinja on 21/11/2012 - 16:06 ¶Can someone please advice on a scale of 0 to 10 how good are these servers in terms of traffic supported, bandwidth etc. where 10 equivalent to ozbargain hosting. thanks
magenta1121 on 21/11/2012 - 17:28 ¶I will be honest, I have been with Web24 for about three month and so far it has been freaking amazing. This mob actually does quite a good job and cares about what they do. Regarding bandwidth I can tell with my monitoring and being with heaps of providers previously that they don't have a saturated network with high traffic and support both have been very prompt, great and helpful. I'd give them a 10..
greenpossum on 21/11/2012 - 17:45 ¶But if you take into account Crucial Paradigm's recent downtime, wouldn't you have to assign 11 to some other hosting? :)
(I'm not knocking CP, BTW, just pointing out that they don't have a perfect record either.)

Hi Motordom, For the $1.00 and 50 cent offerings, the services should be provisioned in approximately 2 hours, delivered by our 24 hour provisioning team, unless you select complicated ancillary features in the Add-ons section (page 3) or make complicated custom requests.

rldowling03 on 21/11/2012 - 18:57 ¶Awesome. I'm assuming It won't be activated now until tomorrow since its after 5PM
Also I find it odd that an Australian hosting company in their signup process lists US states in the states list forcing you to use the Other State field. I guess that would be a limitation of the software maybe, but it is an odd thing
rldowling03 on 22/11/2012 - 07:49 ¶Yes I just got the email thanks :)
Also how come some people are required ID Checks/Phone Calls and others not?
+1 voteOur system uses an algorithm which determines which accounts need manual (i.e. phone or ID provision based) validation and approval. For example, if using a public e-mail account and/or mobile phone number (or a "back-number", such as a VoIP in-dial number), our system may flag it for further scrutiny. This is largely due to the high volume of fraudulent and inadmissible applications we receive routinely.

Again thanks for the offer, never used Windows Server but looking forward to it :)
+1 voterldowling03 on 21/11/2012 - 23:08 ¶If you payed by pcredit card I believe it said they will continue to charge that card when payment is due. If you p,sy by PayPal then it's up to you to remember to pay your invoices. I would assume their invoices would be sent out a week prior to them being due, but I'm not 100% on that

Hi Mini2, by referring two friends, you will receive an additional 100GB of traffic (50GB for each) per month. This means for selecting the Personal plan, you will receive 150GB monthly traffic and for the WebApp plan you will receive 200GB monthly traffic.

Hi Xanctum, That would be a huge amount of servers on one box! Fortunately, that is not the case and we are distributing the VPS systems distributed across several servers from our Melbourne Eastern data centre. As they are VPS set up on Hyper-V under the hypervisor, each VPS has a dedicated and defined system resources.

Hi Algy, All accounts are being provisioned as quickly as possible. Please check your e-mails for more information. If you have not received any e-mails, it may be the result of a typo in the field. If this is the case, you may wish to e-mail our Sales team (sales@web24.com.au) who will liaise with the provisioning team to get you started.

Hi TeamTerry, The promotions for running VPS on this plan are limited to either 1GB or 2GB of RAM (depending on the plan selected), however please note that we do have a range of highly competitive prices for other VPS and DS solutions that you should find meet your needs. We are also happy to oblige custom configurations if your needs are more complicated and more specific than the options provided on the website.

Hi Soulink, Our terms and conditions do not allow game servers to be run on any of our servers. Please see: http://www.web24.com.au/web24/111/terms_and_conditions.html
In terms of usage, should you exceed the allocated traffic allowance (50GB to 200GB) charges apply per GB that exceed.
Lincoln M - Web24

Hi Mini2, You are correct that Hyper-V operates under an SPLA, and as such any licences that you on-board will need to meet the same level of licencing. For more specific details, I would encourage checking the Windows Server 2012 specifications to assess each individual program's overall compatibility.

rldowling03 on 23/11/2012 - 17:31 ¶So far the only downside I have found is that you cannot restart the server from the Web24 admin interface. Considering these are production servers made for web applications, I find this very odd and something which should be fixed ASAP.
I know if I wasn't paying $1 a month for it I wouldn't pay full price knowing I cannot restart my server when it crashes, I have to contact support which would take god knows how long
+1 voteThe response time depends on the complexity of the enquiry and current support request volumes.
Business Hours Support Options
Ticket Support Available Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 8:00pm AEST
Saturday 9:00am to 1:00pm AEST [Excluding Public Holidays]
Phone support Available Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 8:00pm AEST
Saturday 9:00am to 1:00pm AEST [Excluding Public Holidays]Non-Business Hours Support Options
Ticket Support Tickets can be submitted and will be actioned next business day
Phone support * Web24 on-call technicians are available to respond to critical issues. This can be accessed by Option 5 on the support phone numberSo at worst… 3 and a bit days
rldowling03 on 24/11/2012 - 02:21 ¶Yeah thats really not acceptable for production servers and those running businesses or, for what they advertise it as, a web application server.
I would think that your server being down would classify as an emergency, as you are losing customer/sales, but I dont think its worth the $125 + GST for that critical issue call.
Every VPS I have ever used has had a remote restart via the admin interface. Web24 need to get on this as I think its a crucial thing to have for a production server for those worst case scenarios where something crashes (I dont know how stable Windows Server 2012 is)
+1 voteWeb24's target response time to technical support requests is less than one hour.
Ticket support is available 24 hours a day and critical or emergency tickets have a SLA of 30 minutes and 15 minutes respectively, so worst case is you submit a ticket at 4am in the morning and it would be rebooted by 4.15am
All other VM's have reboot / out of band console etc through your control panel. System center 2012 is slightly different and has required some further development.. OOB and reboot will be available soon…
rldowling03 on 25/11/2012 - 08:43 ¶Thats good to hear.
But I dont think I would want to raise an emergency or critical ticket to restart my machines due to the $125 + GST fee
I just hope you guys get this up and running soon
+1 voteThe $125.00 / hour is for non-business hours phone issues that are within the customer scope…
Eg: you deleted critical files and have no managed backup services and now your stuck/sc#@#d.. You hope desperately that your service provider can help (and we usually can) and give us a call… $300 later your back online with your critical files… At this point you go ahead with the managed backup option and save yourself extreme amounts of stress, some money and us some time as you now have reliable scheduled backups that are easily restored.Back on topic.. You can submit a critical / emergency ticket any time of the day or night without any fees.
+1 voterldowling03 on 26/11/2012 - 05:42 ¶Okay that is good to hear. I feel better knowing that now :) thanks for clearing that up :)
