don't think so.
I just got this for $93 from Officeworks Chadstone
They had a HN catalogue stuck on their boards highlighting their better price on another item. It had a listing for the same WDTV Live for $98. So got the 5% off :) .
So hopefully this should be $43 for me if this gift card comes through.

Seems like i can even buy 5!!
"Multiple entries permitted, subject to the following: (a) only one (1) entry and claim permitted per specified Eligible Product purchased during the Promotional Period; (b) each entry and claim must be submitted separately and in accordance with claim requirements; (c) a maximum of five (5) entries and claims per person throughout the Promotional Period; and (d) each entry submitted must be substantially unique."

Can anyone confirm you need individual receipts on different names to successfully receive the cards?
I was thinking about buying three for overseas gifts and collects the tax refund at the airport. Alternatively, can I get a combined tax receipt from OW for individual purchases ?
quarrymaster on 10/12/2012 - 02:21 ¶Buying three will be $3 shy of the $300 threshold for the Tourist Refund Scheme.

+1 voteLovemybargains on 05/12/2012 - 20:11 ¶Yes Ive been looking at this didnt get a chance to get to OW today. Not a competition everyone get a $50.00 card. The comp is for a $1000 gift card. From the site :"You'll also have a chance to win the major prize. The most creative answer will win a $1,000 gift card."
+3 votesflyingtrapeze on 05/12/2012 - 20:12 ¶The $50 giftcard is a winner. Bought mybook live in oct, poor timing.

You sure it's out of stock? I just tried and it says in stock (Brisbane postcode) otherwise just try in store. You could also get it sent to a family member and get them to post it to you? Please note only valid for Comp Now, Harvey Norman, JB Hi Fi, Next Byte, Bing Lee, Officeworks, The Good Guys or Dick Smith.
+3 votesWOW!Thaks O.P.! I just got one from last week's bargain!Perfect timing!Lucky i kept receipt and box!
FYI when you write the short message about the product don't forget this:
Each answer must also include the following information:Mention “Western Digital” Mention the Eligible Product purchased Mention a benefit of the Eligible Product
Yeah, none available online for Melbourne, the message I get is:
Sorry - we were unable to continue, please check the following messages
WD TV LIVE STREAMING MEDIA(WDBGXT0NBK) is out of stock online. Please call 1300 633 423 to find if this product is stocked in a store near you. The product has been removed from your shopping cart. But when I check in-store stock, it looks fine with lots of "In Stock" against each store…

That one is the non-streaming/wifi one:

Derrick Crane on 05/12/2012 - 20:52 ¶BIG problem - they want a photo of the box it came in - mine is on a tip somewhere - can anybody upload a copy please.
+1 voteIt does not look like the $50 is guaranteed as they could reject your answer:
"must answer in an original and creative manner, using twenty five (25) words or less, to the question: “Tell us in 25 words or less how the WD product you have purchased has improved your digital life this Christmas?” (such answer, the “Answer”). Each Answer must also include the following information: (i) Mention “Western Digital”; (ii) Mention the name of the Eligible Product purchased; and (iii) Mention a benefit of the Eligible Product. Each Answer will be individually judged based on originality and creative merit. This component of the Competition is a game of skill and chance plays no part in the determination of the winner."
+1 voteIt does read a bit funny but I'm pretty sure that's got more to do with the $1000 comp. This is the email I received after submitting.
Hi XXXX,
Thank you for your entry. Once your entry is verified, your gift card should be delivered within two weeks to the address you provided.

I dont think so, the main page also says:
"Every valid creative entry will receive a $50 gift card.
PLUS be in the running to WIN a $1,000 gift card for the most creative answer."So they could say that your entry was not original or creative enough for the first $50.
+2 votesI haven't read 1 fine print by any company that doesn't say they can do almost what ever they want.
While they could deny giving a $50 gift card based on creativity, that is not the purpose and I don't see a company like WD scrooging their customers.
The true purpose is to get around the legal requirements of competition permits required in various states for Games of Chance (eg: randomly selecting 1 person for the $1000 prize). "originality" and "creativity" are almost standard terms in these type of "25 words or less" competitions. They effectively help make it a Game of Skill exempting the competition holder from paying for permits. This works out better for us and them as they pay less, and the total prize pool won't be eroded by fees.
There is also the benefit to them of limiting their liability by preventing people exploiting holes in the competition.
It also gets people involved and thinking more which has been shown to increase participation rates.

Maybe get JB to price match Officeworks. They have it listed for $135.

+1 votechansthename on 05/12/2012 - 21:04 ¶Good Luck with that :P
On the other hand it seems that they are not checking the scans. They've approved my entry already :)
chansthename on 06/12/2012 - 11:41 ¶Something about youtube being seamless on my TV (including all the stuff that you need in the answer of course).
@cloudsdbz It was less than 5 minutes last night.

Also, Good Guys listed for $134. Maybe they will price match OW:
http://www.thegoodguys.com.au/chatswood/Western_Digital_WD_T...
Dick Smith lists it for $117:
http://dicksmith.com.au/product/GM1002/wdtv-live-streaming-m...
and Bing Lee a whopping $149 (!) though you can try to make an offer:

comes to about $110 for the 2tb my book live when you factor in the gift card

Netflix installs with the the US firmware update. Change the DNS to tunlr (184.82.222.5) before you update the firmware. Hulu doesn't appear to support this model, yet.

How many Icons do you get in the Services Tab. Using tunlr DNS I see 26 icons, but no Hulu. Wonder if UnblockUS DNS would have a different result?

Be aware that Tunler no longer supports Netflix. So you will need to use a paid DNS solution. I tried Tunler and tried and it cannot connect to Netflix. With Unlock US it works fine. Can also confirm that Netflix appears fine with local AU latest firmware. Just no Hulu +.
Its funny they have a picture of the live streaming but only support the unit before and the hub. Sure it will be supported at somepoint though im sure ive seen people post they have it.

Go here and sign up for a free trial.
Follow instructions which is simply changing the DNS settings to the one they give. Power the unit on and off and then sign up for a free trial of Netflix to check it works.
