  • is this for real?
if so, maybe it is not transferable (at time of payment, might be linked to certain email addresses only).

    • It certainly is for real, I am not a new user as you can see in my profile. It is possible that it is linked to certain email addresses however while the text says that the URL suggests otherwise.

As mentioned in the original post, please anybody that is purchasing something on ebay.com.au anyway can you please give it a go and see if it works for you.

      • was not doubting you mate, just thought maybe it was a scam email you might have received. yea if someone has any success, pls let us know

        • All good Mick, it helps to be sceptical with these things ;-) The link goes directly to a page on an ebay server and there is no reason to suspect that the email was scam email either so all that checks out.

Just waiting to hear now whether others can take advantage of the coupon code. While the email/page says that it is specific to the email address both the URL and code seem too generic. Look forward to some feedback on if this works for anyone else.

  • Does not work for me.. Had to go to paypal directly instead of using ebay's checkout, and applying the code does nothing to the price. oh well, I just impulse bought some chinese screen protector lol.

  • Sorry, that voucher code isn’t valid. To successfully redeem a voucher:

Confirm your eligibility by checking My Messages for a confirmation email.

Make sure the email address on your eBay account is also on your PayPal account. Find out how.

    More information on vouchers.

    damn lol

    • Was this in ebay "my messages"? If 'yes' then I didn't receive anything in that regard, only received it via email.

  • We have something very similar posted earlier this month here:

It turns out that code only applies to some eBay/PayPal accounts. I am not surprised that it's also the case here.

    • Sorry about that scotty and others, had I been aware of your link I would not have posted this one. Since the code and URL seemed so generic I thought it was worth a try. Apologies.

  • ooh, I just received this email too.
    I thought it's a scam :D

    • Can you confirm that the coupon code that I posted is the same one that you received?

  • Got mine this morning.
Only specific Paypal users got this email.
If you didn't get a email from Paypal, then you can't use this, cause it's linked to your Paypal email address.

    • Hmm. I guess it would be interesting to work out why someone can get the discount code but someone can't? I just checked my email box again — no code, and I have been an eBay member for 8 years!

      • Same here, I have premier account but paypal never send me any code. They only take my $$$ but never give me back anything! :(

      • I sold a $2,300 laptop on eBay a few months ago and have bought roughly $1,000 worth of stuff on there in 2008. I received the coupon, so I'm guessing that eBay are sending them to people who've bought or sold a certain value of goods this year. I also received a coupon a couple of years ago.

        • yeah it would only be for people who use paypal a lot…

          • @Icy: Probably for people who did't use it a lot. I've spent over $20k with Paypal over the years and took in revenues of over $200k with them. Not once do I get these promo discounts.

            • @zhenjie: From what I gather, you must buy and/or sell over 1k (total) of stuff over paypal in the last few months and individual items might need to be over $500. Basing this on a pool of a few people only… Lady below however says 4 girls dresses was all it took, may be random as well.

              • @Icy: I never use it much at all and I received the email. Got to make sure the item doesnt have a large shipping value as its 10% of the winning bid only.

          • @Icy: Argh! OzBargain has given out thousands of dollars in prizes with PayPal last year and I can't even get a 10% off. Not happy Jan!

  • Point 11 says - The parties submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the state of New South Wales.

Well I'm in NSW so where's my e-mail hehe? BLEH feeBay :P

  • I have 2 ebay accounts - I sold 4 girls dresses on one account and received the email (which works by the way - I just bought a new camera lens!) - my other account, I've bought loads of stuff and no email?

  • WTF, i am a loyal ebay user for 8 years and I never get these offers directly.

  • To me its pretty obvious what paypal is trying to do here. Knowing their weasel-like reputation, its virtually impossible that they're sending this code to "reward" loyal members.

My bet is the code are for those infrequent users who have used their service in the past, but have not recently (i believe its the frequency not the amount that's being taken into consideration). Just another one of their tactics to lure consumers into buying stuff and using paypal, as an extra incentive you know. Gotta give it to them, pretty good strategy. Don't see why the codes will work on already frequent users since they will continue using paypal regardless of the code.

  • Just wondering can the code be use more than 1?

    • Nope, see point 3 of the t&c on the linked page

  • +1

You need a zero on the end of the code, not that "Ø" symbol.

    It worked for me.

I also received the Paypal email, even though there was nothing in My Messages, either.

    Good luck.

  • blinker is right. it worked for me too.

    • Thanks for the info. Did you get the email or not? Would be good to get confirmation that this actually worked for someone that did not get an email.

  • Didn't get the email, and it didn't work for me - oh well, I miss out on my $5 discount :(

  • i didnt get an email and it worked for me. use the code CHRISTMAS0 just like blinker said

  • I managed to apply CHRISTMAS0, but after logging into my Paypal account it tells me the voucher code is invalid.

    I didn't get an e-mail from Paypal.

  • that's weird. after using the code it said i would get 10% discount but after logging in paypal it said the code isnt valid.

after calling paypal they said the coupon applies to a certain group only and said i should contact ebay for details
