man that ✈ is really cool in the title lol

    • Haha yeah that's what caught my eye too.

Although I can't say the same for Qantas's air fares.

They think $799 to Singapore return is a good deal? Have they even heard of Scoot before…

      • +7

You can't compare a budget carrier (Scoot) with a full service carrier like Qantas…
You get all meals/drinks included in the price with Qantas, an IFE system, frequent flyer miles, and more flight options.

        • +4

But still, with the $400 saving, I could buy much better food to take on the scoot flight with me. I don't think I could pay double just for 7h of better food/service.

Cheap out on airfare = more to spend at destination ;)

        • +4

if you include frequent flyer allowances (lounge, baggage), all catering and the reliability of Qantas v Scoot, things aren't looking so favourable for the low cost carrier… but then the OH SHIT o'clock departure time on Scoot fron Changi makes Qantas a definite winner.

I've been on both and wouldn't bother with Scoot again (unless you like to hear a 'ding' every few minutes from someone accidentally pressing the call button with their thigh).

        • I flew back from sg to syd with flyscoot last august. yes the time was annoying but overall i found it better than Jetstar. Scoot seems fine for the shorter flights.

The only reason i wouldn't use them to fly to say, Japan is the stopovers.

  • Brisbane to Heathrow is pretty good I think, what do you ppl think

    • What's with the price spike 25-30 March ($3000) Some special event in London ?

      • Looks like a price hike for Easter…

    • Average price. Managed to book MEL to Heathrow return with Qantas for $1K per person in May

      • +1

Why is this voted down? TeeJay is right - this is an average price!

        • +1

$1k return AUS to LHR is not average pricing on QF… Heck you can't even get to LAX for $1k on QF let alone LHR. $1k is average VA/DL sale pricing to LAX which is significantly shorter than MEL/SYD-LHR.

MEL-LHR for $1k return is an EXTREMELY good price on ANY airline let alone QF.

      • How / Where? I can't see anything for less than $1700 for that journey..

Thanks so much for posting this up! Just booked our flights to LA from Sydney. 2 adults for $2400 total! :D Super happy!

    • +2

Though my credit card got blocked (fraud protection) when trying to reserve our seats. So I'm hoping in the morning when I call my CC company and approve the transaction that I still get to keep the seats we selected. :)

I'm no expert, but doesn't Virgin Australia do that route for $100-$1100 sometimes?

      • They do, both Qantas and Virgin have similar pricing for this route when on sale.

You're most welcome Levinet, If you subscribe to their Red Mail that's how I came across this tonight :)

    • I do subscribe to it, but the red email for me came in 2 hours after this post. Must have been an issue with their newsletter mailout system — or they do staggered mailouts to prevent their email servers getting blacklisted.

Either way, thanks a lot for posting this up so quickly!

  • For once their sale fares do seem reasonable - still a little higher than the competition but if you want to fly Qantas then they're good prices.
    Eg Syd-lax $1199, Syd-sing $799, Syd-Vancouver $1413

    • Not bad, I got my return flights to Vancouver for $1400 departing Jan returning late Feb in the sale October last year

    • how so? Their service is top notch, they codeshare with Emirites (Just as good). They use an A380 for many routes now. I am happy with them.

  • This sale is actually pretty decent, even the domestic fares (several $$'s cheaper) than the sales over the past month.

  • I booked my MEL ✈ SIN with this sale last night during the singapore GP weekend in September we fly out with qantas direct flight and return with emirates.

  • /sigh, I just booked Syd > Santiago last week for $450 more :/

  • Fyi, one baggage policy from Qantas is totally a letdown!

    • If you're travelling to North America it's 2.
Also this is no different to any North American airlines or AF or BA that now use the piece system as well.
It is a 23kg bag, which is still more than the 20kg allowed by most other airlines. You'll loose an extra 3kg~ out of that 20kg allowance if you add a second bag as well.

  • Still waiting for their 2 for 1 business class sale from Melbourne to Heathrow.

  • It's not a bad price for Eastern states but Singapore airlines are now doing a special to Singapore for Darwin and Perth at $506 and $598 respectively. And they're definitely a competitor to Qantas IMHO .

  • Just saw the caveat for Perth though. Maximum stay: 7 Days
This doesn't apply for Darwin. Which is odd not sure if its a typo.
