Pretty good price for Adobe Lightroom 4. B&H is trust worthy retailer, so you can't go wrong. Although Adobe dropped Australian prices, Lightroom 4 is still $187. So you are saving $40.

  • Got the digital copy for about $80 at Xmas. It's unfortunate Amazon won't ship to AU, given they have it for $109 currently for the physical copy.

  • Love being a student :D

    • how do they verify if you're a student or not when you purchase the student edition?

      • You need to submit proof with a letter of enrolment or something.

      • You need to provide either:
        1. An email account with .edu domain that you can access and reply from
        2. An invoice of your tuition fees
        3. A student ID card
        4. A letter from your institute of learning confirming your status as a student.

  • If they ship all the Adobe software good way to buy it with out the Aus Tax$$$

    Aus Master Collection $4344
    BHPhoto Master Collection $2490

    • I can only confirm they ship LR4 to Austrlaia, but if they ship LR4 I think they would ship Master Collection too.

  • Thanks Zealmax. I was looking to buy Lightroom 4.

    • Australian retailers have to realise, we are living in a global economy and become more competitive, instead of artificially inflating prices.

Sometimes it's not just the local retailers that are at fault. Some producers or suppliers hike their prices over here simply because they are able to do so in a small and captive market.

  • I think B&H are offering extra $10 discount. So the total price is $142.25

    • Just got confirmation from B&H, US $142.25 is the correct price. Got $10 refunded.

  • I Think it is cheaper at ozgameshop -

    http://www.ozgameshop.com/graphics-and-multimedia/adobe-ligh…
    Adobe Lightroom 4.0 Mac & PC - $128.49
    http://www.ozgameshop.com/desktop-publishing-software/adobe-…
Adobe Photoshop Lightroom v. 4 Upgrade Package 1 User DVD Windows & Mac English European Union - $76.99

    BUT then they also have
    http://www.ozgameshop.com/graphics-and-multimedia/adobe-ligh…
Adobe Lightroom V4 Full Retail Version for Mac & PC - $151.49

I'm not sure what the difference is between the ~$128 and the ~$151 one - nothing seems to suggest that the cheaper one isn't the full version :S

Lightroom is probably the best bang for buck investment you can make in your DSLR kit - excellent software.

    • I think Full Retail version is the boxed physical package and the other is the download version.

      • The Description says

        Distribution Media DVD-ROM
        Package Type Retail

… Maybe sourced from a different region or something?

Is this "legal" to use in Au for business purposes? I know Photoshop isn't, in terms of the EULA. (I bought LR here once they dropped the price to show them that people will buy stuff here if they price sensibly.)

    • Which part of the EULA states this?

      • I just got confirmation from Adobe, that it is legal to use Lightroom 4 and all Adobe software anywhere in the world. Also confirmed that you are free to purchase it from anywhere in the world.

    • EULA aren't necessarily legally binding. They're rules the distributer want you to follow, but they don't supersede any actual laws. Because they say one thing, that doesn't mean not following it is suddenly breaking the law.

I haven't read the EULA, but I can't imagine Adobe has any legal grounds what so ever to restrict you using software purchased elsewhere. Logically it doesn't even make sense…this stuff gets installed on the laptops of photographers travelling the globe. They aren't going to buy a new license for each place they visit.

Found a cheaper alternative ($89.95 for e-Download version) from BuyTec. I've never dealt with this business before so any feedbacks is welcome.

  • Is this going to be the cheapest legit. Download from Amazon is cheaper, but would have to put fake shopping address.
