Sandwich Maker, Toaster $2 @ BI-LO Broadway, NSW

530

Just came back from Bi-Lo Broadway and noticed a pallet of these for sale.
Toaster @ $2, down from $6 (plastic casing)
Sandwich Maker @ $2, down from $4
Dome Toaster @ $4 (metal casing)

Bought the toaster as it's the best bargain and it doesn't hurt to have one as a spare.

Coles is also on the same level in the building but I didn't go in to take a look so can't confirm if they have it there too.

Similar to this deal except the sandwich maker is on sale too: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/94719

More gifts to give at weddings for steptoe lol.

    • yeah, just from someone you dislike. ;)

  • Not showing that price at the Coles near me.

    I'm im-pressed !!

I bought the toastie maker and had to return it that day, mainly because it tripped the safety switch at my house.
But it was also VERY poor quality.
The latch was very loose, and the melted cheese seeped through the insides of the casing.
Wouldnt even take one if they were giving them away for free!

  • Wrong thread, but good price anyway :)

The toaster is obviously junk. Buying junk doesn't sound like a bargain.

Apparently the white toaster only toasts half the bread. Piece of crap it must be. Seriously there's a reason why it costs the same as a loaf of bread. That would make a poor wedding gift.

    Bi-Lo still exists?!

    • Bi-Lo = Coles

      • Bi lo= Coles = west farmers.

        • Bi lo= Coles = west farmers = Deadly Virus Killing Australia :P

It's so damn cheap, but after reading the comments, it's so stupid, I mean seriously, all this plastic, metal etc material is wasted on making junk that people just end up binning, a total crap load of shit dumped on land as well.

Well what do you expect of cheap chinese made junk.

      • +6

probably better than anything you can ever put together.

Its not about Chinese made, don't be racist. The factories are doing what the "Boss" requested, and the "Boss" is the buyer such as Coles. iPhone and iPad that people are crazy for are mostly (if not all) made in China, and these i-Products are reckon as good quality (except iPhone5???).

By the way, that reminded me some time ago a friend offered me two containers of mixed Toasters and Sandwich Makers and some other Coles branded appliances, for $2.5/piece, but must not be sold in Australia as there's some hiccups in these products that not good to be sold. The friend suggested to have them sold as recyclable waste. Not sure if this Coles sandwich maker is from the same lot.

        Sigh!!

How abt u throw away everything made in china and see what's end up in ur house and on u?

      • Like iPhones?

  • the sandwich maker for 4 dollars is now sold out at my coles. buying it at 4 dollars was already a steal, and at 2 dollars now i feel a little ripped off , soon they will be giving them away

  • Great deal, great price. :D I'll be grabbing two toasters and two sandwich makers. :)

A loaf of bread costs more than the toaster/sandwich maker!

  • Broadway Bi-Lo is a bit odd. I mean you wouldn't expect a Bi-Lo in the same building as Apple and Nike stores.

    • Funny thing, is that building also has Coles…

      • There's a shopping centre here in Melbourne that used to have both a Bi-Lo and a Coles at opposite ends of the building. But then all of the Bi-Los in Melbourne were rebranded as Coles, so now there's two Coles in the same building.

My mum is adamant that the "Bi-Lo Coles" has cheaper prices, but I've never noticed a difference between them.

    • It's probably just there to hold the spot so that Woolworths or Aldi can't get into the centre.

On the plus side for the consumer, if something is sold out in Coles you can waddle over to Bi-Lo and, since almost nobody actually shops there, you can pick it up there.

I think everyone should raise a glass to this deal.

    • +1

Bread, cheese, ham, sandwich maker = Best thing ever. :D All under $10 and enough to get drink too. :D How I miss these types of prices in life.

      • comment was more about the "Toast" pun

        • I don't get it. :(

        • toast has another definition
          a. The act of raising a glass and drinking in honor of or to the health of a person or thing.

I am holding off. I sense that a $1 price-point can't be too far away.

  • Yeah it might be junk, least it gets the job done, making fine toast, shouldn't expect it to make gourmet food! Some people just expecting to much, no way your gonna get Tiffany and co toaster for 2 bux!

  • +1

I really don't need one of these but I'm thinking of getting one.

  • +2

Now I can finally live the dream of having a sandwich maker in every room, no more walking to the kitchen like a sucker for my grilled ham and cheese anymore!

  • Exact same as this deal, too :)

When someone asks you why the people of the world are struggling with debt, show them the comments in this thread.

I have a $10 kmart toaster and kettle package, go Homemaker, have had it for 3 years now.

The toaster uses a heating element to make my bread warm and brown and the heating element in my kettle warms up my water until it is 100 degrees celcius. I suspect expensive name brands work the same way but I'm no electrical engineer.

    A fool and his money……..

    • Oh no. We want the kettle in a funny shape and the toaster painted in red to match our designer cupboard door knobs

      • +1

I think you really wanted to remove the words "designer cupboard door" from your comment.
