    8PM Monday 11 March 2013 London time = 7AM Tuesday 12 March 2013 AEST.

      Think you meant 7AM AEDT.

  • While waiting for this sale, check out http://www.woolovers.com for knitwear.

    Prices look good.

I have not purchased from them as yet, but a friend ordered eight items (men's and women's) and she told me delivery was only $15 (I hope she did not confuse UK Pounds with dollars, but even if she did - UKP15 is about AU$22).

    EDIT: Sale pages:-

  • Anyone know if their shirts are half decent quality? I know Hawes and Curtis are, as they were referred to me by someone here, then I found out a coworker has one and it's quite good quality.

    • +2

As good or better as anything I can buy in the big retailers here. Business shirt are great as are the trousers. You can get them in the correct waist and length straight off the rack. Try and do that at Myers, DJ's etc here.

    • +1

Yes, they are. They usually have a 'buy one get one half price' offer on their sartorial range, which are their better quality shirts. I can highly recommend these.

      http://www.marksandspencer.com/Luxury-Shirts-Offer-Mens/b/59…

Their machine washable trousers with 'supercrease' (ie. they retain their crease through the leg after washing) are also worth a look.

      • Do you reckon that buy one, get one half off combines with the 50% off deal? That would start to make the shirts quite a reasonable price.

        • Sometimes specific shirts from that range are discounted, but it's unlikely they will offer the 50% off deal in addition to that offer. Still, with free shipping, you can get two very good quality shirts for GBP60 delivered, which works about $45 each (good value in my opinion).

        • That's not bad for good quality shirts but I can get Hawes and Curtis shirts, which I believe are also of good quality, 5 for 100 quid (plus about 10 quid shipping) total cost in AUD, $32 per shirt and I know for a fact they are top shelf.

Hence, they should offer the half off and the .5 cost on the second shirt! :D

      • Are the sartorial shirts non-iron?

  • is there anywhere to try M+S stuff on in melbourne - specifically mens shirts/pants/suits

    • An Op Shop.

They are a British department store with no presence in Australia.

My partner is looking for good quality business shirts. Has anyone tried the Marks and Sparks ones??

  • Does anyone know how to decipher their shirt sizing? I'm a "40" -> "42" depending on the brand of shirt - I'm assuming that's a collar length in CM?

I plugged that into google (40cm to inches) it says 15.7, ok that seems reasonable but when I look at the shirts on the website, that's the third smallest size - now I tell you one thing, I'm not a complete hamgobbler anymore but I'm no where near the smaller size category in shirts.

What am I doing wrong here?

    • +1

I found a size guide here:
      http://www.marksandspencer.com/Formal-Shirts-Menswear-Size-G…

You (like me) would be about a 16.5 *based on 42. If you went off a 40 you'd be the 15.5 you calculated earlier.

      • My weight fluctuates and unfortunately I'm not convinced there's many standards on this. I fear they have gone down the path of 'flattering the customer' (as they do with womens clothing) and they've made the old 42 a 41 and the 41 a 40 and so on - I'm paranoid but I've got a 3 year old 42 here which is too tight and some brand new Pelaco 40's and they fit totally fine :/ You figure it out :(

I still find it incredibly odd that someone of my size would be the third smallest on their sizes (assuming I really am a 40)

        • M&S shirts are true to size. If you wear Van Huesen shirts take that sizing and compare it against the sizing chart above and you won't go wrong.

        • My 42 Van Heusens are getting loose, so I guess I'll try for 40cm necks. The 110cm chest is killing me, ugh

    • try googling 'compare shirt sizes au to uk' or something like that…

    • +1

Im no expert on this but if you have a look at their sizing chart it looks like you would need to look at the 3 sizes…neck, chest & sleeve. If you have a 42cm neck but a 122 cm chest, then you would need to go for the 44-45 cm neck and so on. Best to measure up before you buy.

I have a few jackets that I got off them when I was living in the UK and the quality has been pretty good for what I paid.

And since I am here I should remind you all that www.qwibble.com.au currently have M&S cashback at 10.8%

Sigh, this retarded body, I loathe it.

        39cm neck
        110cm chest
        107cm belly

        Just call me bob :(

        • Neck is related to chest size (and arm length) how…. its a mystery why collar size is the important measurement

Anyway, mens clothing is measured in length (diameter) rather than some random size like a lot of womens clothing. So there isnt much flattering. If you are 40 then a 40 will suit. At your neck anyway…

Do have a look at Hawes and Curtis, they have regular fit, slim fit and I think a larger fit

  • Ok so the 50% off the shirts is applying (at the moment) if you buy 2 shirts.
I just added 2x40 pound shirts and got this

    Items
    £79.00
    Delivery
    £15.00
    Free Delivery
    -£15.00
    Promotion Applied
    -£19.75
    ORDER TOTAL:
    £59.25

Which is still 42/43$ a shirt roughly (not bad of course) but if I'm reading this news topic correct, the promotion hasn't begun yet?

    • The £19.75 promo that you see applied was the 50% off the second shirt and not the 50% off all. When/if the 50% sale kicks in for these shirts you should be able to get each one for £19.75 and at the current exchange rate that makes them approx $29AUD each (cashback on that will be $3.13)

      • Yeah I am thinking you're right - we'll see, I've set a g.cal reminder for tomorrow around 09:00am.

  • any way to select custom sleeve length in cm?

  • 09:00am Melbourne time.
