Free transport to say "Sorry" for the travel debacle of the last couple of days, according to tonight's news.
    [ :- { )

  • 6 bucks for all the inconvenience they have caused just doesn't cut it with me…

The ride is free, but you have to buy the car and drive it yourself. ;-)

  • Well, I usually bike to work, so free A/C bus on a hot day is good in my books.

they shouldnt increase the ticket price if they cant keep up with the service

    • Increases in ticket prices are to afford the massive fines they're paying for poor service.

What about us people who are buying monthly s and weekly's… how do we get any benefit?? It's a joke…

  • nice for the morning before all the trains melt.

  • and once again a triumph of privatisation

  • At least in Sydney we've been spending $$$ on concrete sleepering the tracks so they don't buckle so easily… CityFail may not be such a failure after all…

  • Same here. I use monthly and they clearly mention there is no benefit for us, i.e., the monthly end date cannot be extended. So much for free ride.
Reminding you all that there are plenty more (in 100s?) train cancellation coming, Free ride cannot get any "cheaper". What good is a free service if there is no service at all?
    -ve from me.

  • I think if more people actually used public transport rather than it being a some-what minority, you would see more money going into it. I know in QLD, they tend to prioritize for the coal/freight trains because they pay more money to occupy track :) Oh well, take a free ride while you can! Just sit on the train all day if you've got nothing better to do — I know I don't.

    • I think it's the opposite problem. There are more people riding the trains then expected, thus they are running all of their trains almost all of the times as they physically don't have enough trains. So when trains break down, that's it, they've got nothing to fall back on. They need to buy more trains and use the ones where the A/C doesn't work. Id think people would rather have a non air conditioned train then no train at all.

  • I had a bite at the carriage yesterday and they are made of chocolate!!!

    • Dark, milk or white chocolate?

  • According to MX newspaper, Connex's Boss claims 80% of the train cancellations are caused by drivers. He says even though there are issues with the trains itself but they do not required immediate fixed. Melbourne rail, tram and bus Union bascially stops drivers working in the troubled trains even if the trains are still able to run. ps, the increased fare is mainly to fund Caulfield-Footscray tunnel.

  • A FREE unreliable service, is still a free UNRELIABLE service.

This "it may or may not come" and "it may or may not be on time" is pathetic for a so-called first world country. I have visited third world nations with public transport cheaper and more reliable than ours!

    • Yes, I vouch for that. Public transport in some third world and developing countries/nations
are better than ours!!! Shame on Connex!!!!

  • It is the legacy of a government in power for such a long time not able to forsee what is coming! I have seen the service decline for years and no action taken to counter it!
