Who cares when it will sit on a boat for the next month.

      • Hahahaha!
Man I'm feeling the OzBargain fever! This flash light will go well with my universal key chain remote!

  • Got one. Thanks.

  • -8

    Bought one. Cool.

Sounds weird that I received an email from tmart with this subject:
"Congrats, we have received your payment for order"

This is not the first time. Last time I received:
"You are a lucky dog! Category discounts for you valentine date ONLY 48 hours."

Really? Calling the customers a dog? I will accept the idiom to be called by my good mates. But not by a company…

    • +1

Congrats! Enjoy the cheap products from Tmart you lucky dogs

This is actually a good flashlight for the price. The throw is great.

The head pulls out about half an inch, and changes the beam from flood to throw.

  • Where do you enter the code?

    • +4
      1. Add product to cart
      2. Secure Checkout (not paypal)
      3. Register/Login
      4. Enter Details and add code to coupon textbox
      5. Pay with Paypal
      6. Done and Just wait for order :D
      • So you do have to create an account

        • From my understanding you have to. But I may be wrong.

        • +3

          NO.
You can checkout with PAYPAL directly and apply the code after they redirect you to their own page to confirm price/address details..
          (I just did it)

        • Agree - I didn't have to register (followed m2000's procedure). One less ID/password ;-)

picked one up to chuck on my torch pile

      Better than Anusol?

  • Seems to have good reviews so i got one. Fairly cheap :D thanks!

  • Pity it is so big - close 2ce the size of the 14500 battery in both directions, Seemingly (width at least) seems to be cosmetic. It is as big as a lot of 18650 torches. If it were smaller i would jump on it, but the only reason (for me) to choose a 14500 torch over an 18650 torch would be size.
REALLY want to find a cheap, AA battery sized blinder torch for my fiancee's keyring, if somebody knows one lol.

    • Here is the one I keep on my keyring: http://dx.com/p/44962
It's about $20, stainless steel body, easy to attach a keyring to. Five modes, plenty bright on high mode, but being stainless steel it's a little on the heavy side. I've had it for a year, and the case is still bright and shiny, no scratches (unlike the aluminium-cased torch it replaced).

Whether it adds significantly to the weight of your keyring depends on how many keys are already on your keyring. Size is good, same length as a car key, and the diameter is small.

  • Just grabbed one. Always handy to have a little LED torch for whatever situation.
$4 is absolutely worth it, especially for a reliable LED brand like Cree.

    Cheers

    Could only get 1

    • seems like the code only works for one…

the second one would be full price

  • Got one, now only 138 left. I already have one of these and for the money its hard to beat.

    • The question is why shouldn't you??

  • +3

does anyone really need anything on this site? :)

  • Ordered…hopefully will not use for walkers

  • nice, just order one $3.95

  • I wonder how many people bought it because it looks like a lightsabre.

  • Wow…I've got an account and I had no idea. Bloody OzBargain :-P

  • +1

Why would you not pay $1.55 more for something like this:

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/3W-200-Lumens-CREE-Q3-LED-Flashli…

    Which has:

    • Waterproof (probably only light drizzle but better than nothing)
    • 3 Modes (high brightness/low brightness/flash)
    • Adjustable zoom for light focus

This is a genuine question as I'd like to buy a torch, just don't know which one.

    • +1

The same flashlight that you found on Ebay is 61 (US) cents cheaper at Tmart:
      http://www.tmart.com/Q3-3W-High-Power-Adjustable-LED-Flashli…

Seriously, if you are looking for a flashlight, there are five main things to consider:
      - what type of battery (many use lithium batteries, some AA, 1xAAA, 3xAAA)
      - whether you want zoom (usually makes the torch significantly thicker)
      - whether you want one, three, five or more modes
      - what the case is made of (aluminium or stainless steel)
      - do you want it blindingly bright (XML LED) or just usefully bright

No matter which options you choose, there is almost certainly a flashlight which meets your specification. However, there are a few combinations that don't exist, like XML LED and single AA/AAA battery.

Also, I recommend you get a torch with a proper "clicky" switch at the tail end. Some of the cheaper torches have a twist-to-turn-on action, and it just isn't as nice.

      • I see. thanks.

But from the dimensions given the more expensive torch with zoom is only 0.43 inches (around 1cm?) longer and same width. I wouldn't say that is significantly longer/thicker.

Both of the torches are aluminium so I'm guessing SS is better and more expensive?

Lastly, the torch you linked doesn't actually say CREE anywhere. As I understand it Cree is on of the best LED manufacturer but only Cree makes order codes named Q3? So if it's a "Q3 torch" the LED component is made by Cree or are there lots of counterfeit LED components?

        • +1

I meant that zoom versus non-zoom has a significant difference in diameter. Both of the torches you are comparing are zooms. Non-zoom AA torches CAN be quite thin, I have one that is 21mm diameter. I also have a zoom AA torch which is 30mm diameter, quite large. Even my Sipik SK68 clone (25mm) looks "fat" beside the 21mm diameter torch.

Black-coloured aluminium torches don't stay black very long, particularly if you keep the torch in your pocket with your keys or coins. Uncoloured aluminium scratches and will show wear too. Stainless generally looks brand new all the time, but it is more expensive, and heavier too. Cheapest I ever bought was $13.

The TMART torch that I linked to is almost certainly the same torch that you found on Ebay, with the same LED. Unlikely there would be counterfeit CREE Q3 LEDs around, counterfeiters would more likely target LEDs with a price premium, like the XML LEDs.

Also, just because a torch has a CREE LED, doesn't always make it good. It is also important that the LED is heat-sunk well, as too much heat will shorten its life dramatically. Some torches are poor in this respect, and many of the zoom torches are culprits here, as they often move the LED to achieve the zooming.

Having more than one mode is an important thing too. Torches with only one mode are usually run at full power, and when run at full power, after ten minutes such torches will often be too hot to hold comfortably. Also, at full power, you will usually have a battery life of about an hour. Having a 3-mode or 5-mode torch will still give you the option of full power when you need it, but lower-power options for less heat and longer running time.

        • Great read. Thanks for the reply.

      • +1

Twisty is a feature to cut down on length, not exclusively a cheap option.

        • True.

Twisty exists in both the very cheap torches, and I have also seen it in $40+ full-feature torches (with multiple modes, dimming and programmability).

However, it still makes it harder to use the torch, particularly with one hand, and almost impossible if you are wearing gloves.

  • Not a bad price. Good for the car.

  • Not sure why I got 1, really don't need it.

    • +1

Same I've already have two torches, looks like the missus is going to have a big nag at this :)

  • Weird, when I put through the order I added the discount code and the discounted price showed up, however when I clicked on submit the final price I got charged was the full price (AU$6.92). My paypal account seems to confirm this. Is there any way that I can cancel the order and do it again? I've sent through an email to the support team. Hopefully someone gets back to me soon.

EDIT I've also gone through the "Express Services Center" as suggested in the Help Center. There is an option to "Request a refund for unshipped item(s)" however it doesn't allow me to specify the quantity of "1" in the dropdown list of the item I'm trying to get a refund for.

    • Bernie. Are you sure you got charged full price? I just placed order and Order total = AU$3.95 in red but attached summary says total = AU$6.92 which makes sense cause it is amount before coupon. Paypal receipt equates to $3.95 too. Unless there is a glitch in your order. If all hell goes wrong you have 45 days to open a dispute with paypal. For $3 diff :P…not worth in IMO

      • Yeah thanks mate, I double checked it all and my paypal was definitely saying AU$6.92. I was finally able to get the Express Services Center to accept my refund request through lots of fiddling with the interface and since I was feeling wild and dangerous I put in a new order and tried the coupon again. The second order went through correctly with a total of $3.95. Hopefully the first order cancellation request gets accepted and I don't end up with two torches at my doorstep. The things I do for a bargain at 12:30 in the morning!

Yawn, going to bed. Better just check OzB
$4 torch - nah don't need one of those, I have dozens
5 mins later, checked out, torch in post
Go to bed thinking < how did I get into this OzB thing in the 1st place?>

    • OZB is addictive! Once you are on you can't stop nor resist!

  • Bought this despite having no need for it whatoever. Ozbargain must have a hypnotic effect on its members.

  • +1

    Normal price -> $7.
    After discount -> $4.

    Likes -> 109.

    ???????

    • yes, looks like a $70 torch on sale for $4…

    • -1

That's almost 50% off mate.. Most things that are sold for 50% off are likely to be below cost (especially when shipping is included), therefore, this is a great bargain.

      • -1

        ok

        • Plus it has free shipping. It would probably cost more than $4.00 to post this in Australia.

  • expired

  • Looks like it's expired? I'm getting "This coupon code does not exist." after following m2000's method.

  • Code doesn't work.

  • Code dead :(

  • Hi,

The deal is ended. Please pay attention to our other deals.

  • All gone for this price…

  • ok, I give up. How do I get the batteries into this?
Arrived today but no light action as yet

    • +1

      Hi, do you have batteries?

Unscrew the end of the tube body where you will find a key switch, then put an AA battery in the body, it will work after screwing. (Just connect the negative battery end with the spring.)

      • Woah, brightness! Thanks.

  • still waiting for mine…

    • Hi, the delivery takes about 1 month, just wait and thanks for your understanding.

  • Same…I'm still waiting for mine. I'm kind of worried because I don't know my order number. I have my Paypal receipt though…Hope it comes :/

    • Hi, the delivery usually takes about 1 month, so don't worried.
If you want to know your order number I can help you, but you should let me know your mail. :)

    • you can only open a dispute within 45 days of purchase. so make sure you dont leave it until then

  • Just got mine delivered today, the torch itself is really, really bright for running of a AA battery.
    It was worth the $4.

  • Bloody good torch for $4 but wish it has orange peel reflector instead of focus adjustable head. I am running it with a 3V Li ion battery and it is twice the brightness.

  • just got mine today as well, its so powerful
it puts all my other torches to shame.
    great deal

  • Mine says "Cree Q5" on the side of the torch. Did I get the wrong one? It looks the same as the torch in the photo.

    • Did you get one from one of the other deals (Q5) like lots of us? Not always obvious which company has sent it ;-)

From their site: "4. In case of erosion causing roughness of the torch movements, try to clear and air it" Huh? ;-)

    • check the packaging for sku and compare to the site and you'll know who sent it
