    • Staff member looked at old locked Vodafone & thought better of checking further. Handed over the replacement. Just asked for name & number - when I rang to put aside.

one year old is loving hitting the buttons

Think only the very young or old will like this keyboard mobile.

Been out whole day and called a store close to where I live and they have no more stock, but when I check online there is stock.
I am told to call back again in a couple days if there is stock coming in.

  • Thanks

  • Offer ends 13/05/24 or while the stock lasts?

  • Got one. Thanks Op

  • I hope it's unlocked

  • +1

Does this have an option to hotspot? :D

Edit: Just saw on HN Website:

    Connectivity Headphone Out, Micro USB

No WiFi support, so no Hotspot, I'd agree. Not complaining, just wanted to know, IYKYK.

    • But it has Bluetooth, so just configure tethering on it and use in the same way as WiFi. Slower though, and hard to find routers with it.

      • +1

Sorry, no bluetooth or USB tethering on this.
Bluetooth is for headset, or file transfer. USB does mass storage to SD card and 12MB built-in.

        • That's really bad. We need a patch or Java app that would do it.

  • +4

    None at Joondalup.

Got 2 at Ozzy Park (2 people), including using a pretty smashed up Huawei 4G as a swap. Name and phone number only required - for warranty purposes.

Guy at Joondalup checked stock - none anywhere NOR except Ozzy Park (maybe only 3 left after our visit), and 20+ at City West.

WARNING (for those who can't live without USB-C 😊) - it is USB 2.0.

  • -2

Link just goes to a "pick a store" page for me. Can't find anything about this on the HN site itself.

  • +3

Went past my local HN in Chadstone this arvo. Didn't ask for anything other than my name and phone number. No stock, but they rook my old HTC Incredible S and will call me when I can come pick up the 110.

  • +1

I just located at least 4 3G phones that are completely dead (probably just the battery). One of them has a dedicated RCA plug charger.

Will I be able to swap them all for 4x Nokia 110 4G, or will Gerry Harvey step out of his Dracula closet?

    • +4

      1 per customer.

It's clearly stated in the OP.

    • +2

With at least 3 friends and enough stock in the store - yes. I tried to convince store visitors onsite, everybody are too scared. BYOFriend. But I would expect no stock left by now.

  • Can someone confirm whether the Nokia 110 has the capability to function as a hotspot?

  • -1

Does it have to be a 3G phone? An old 4g Xiaomi Mi will not work?

  • +1

good deal wished i had visited store earlier on in the day.. good luck finding any stock now. not sure if they will restock before may 13th or if you can leave them your details and an old phone and have them call you when more stock comes in?

    • +1

Tried that one. Just offered a credit note in case any stock is found but it seems delivery is out a few months now. I think I'll wait for the 3G network to be switched off and see what other recycle offers come up……or else toss in the bin

      • +1

Never ever ever toss any electronic, especially with battery in the bin.

There is mobile monster that offer free delivery to recycle that.
Or council pick up or e waste drop off.

        Stop vandalising your home.

  • +2

Just tried visiting HN broadway and they asked me to fill in forms on tradeinwith.asurion.com.au and upload copies of ID, and provide CC to do a security charge for the $1 holding amount… and agree to them charging me $50 or so if the phone doesn't match the condition of working/etc.

Sounds like the promo got worked through a bit more overnight :(

I took their last blue 110. Staff said they did same deal in April but barely anyone came in to do it whereas this time it’s gone crazy. The power of OzBargain!

    • +4

Lucky I was about to go there today, but let them do a hell of things like copying my ID, provide my CC & even agreed to pay them $50, I will just throw my phone to the bin, no way.

    • +1

OzB tend to ruin a good bargain, which tend to get abused.

    • +5

Jerry gets ozbargained by the professionals again lol

  • +5

I can't really complain as it's a real phone but the quality is not really there compared to the older Nokia phones.

  • +1

is it still worth going or is it all out of stock?

    • All OOS don't bother, many been brodening it and resell on eBay, gumtree.

  • Went to Alexandria store, been advised only Nokia 3G phone is accepted for recycling.

    • +1

That's news to me… the Asurion portal that they asked me to use let you choose any brand and click "OTHER" for the model… which was helpful for me since I bought my phone in Singapore back in 2016 and pretty sure they never sold it here.

  • Still a few left at fountain gate, VIC, just got one.

  • I just got one at Mornington Vic, they still have some according to their site.

  • Only had to give my phone number and name

  • +1

I called up Broadway HN this morning to check if the store had any stock, they did, I asked the person on the phone to put the item on hold but didn't take my details so I went to Broadway HN, the staff said there isn't any stock even though the item that I put on hold wasn't there. Told me Alexandria may have stock, called Alexandria, told me had no stock which was at 11am when I called them. Told me Bondi HN may have stock, I called up the staff on the phone said only had 1 left, I asked to put on hold, said no. Apparently customers been calling about it, told me first come first serve. Then I called Balgowlah HN, they had stock, told the staff to hold the item and I gave my details. I went there, staff was really friendly, knew about the promo. Told me to scan QR Code, fill in the details. A must is to have your IMEI Number or Serial Number. I'm not sure what process everyone got but the staff printed out a postage form with the barcode to send the mobile to the post office. Also didn't realize that there was a QR code sent to my email account to be scanned at the checkout. Thanks, Mother's Day present sorted.

    • oh well, lucky to those who just gave them a fake name & phone number. Those who went thru their proper exchange process good luck!

    • +2

Asurion also run an online Trade-In program. Sending payment for a phone sent in.

      Did you read this Deal??
      That's NOT the HN offer!
It's only in store (if stock available)

      • Did I do the process wrong? In the end there was a security charge of $1 and I did end up with the item.

        • You went to a HN store & gave them your phone in exchange for a Nokia 110?
          That's this Deal.

There were warnings about their mail in a phone service near start of this Deal.

          • @INFIDEL: But I bet he gave them his CC details? Then that can be painful.

            • @kaikor: No I didn't give them my cc details. My bad, I didn't realize.

              • -2

                @INFIDEL: Cool story, bro…..

              • -4

@INFIDEL: Lol! Never thought Ozbargainers would come out in support of Jerry Harvey's massive profits😜

We were discussing above whether HN could force a payment afterwards, if a CC had been supplied.

Fact is HN never asked for payment of deposit, after leaving store.
If they had invoiced me (they had full details on my loan contact), my business would have paid.

                Total incompetence by HN!

Staff member was so pleased with the sale & his first loan agreement, he walked me out of store. Past cashier. We both were distracted & forgot about deposit payment.

When he rang, he asked "Umm… You did pay?". He was uncertain. So I pointed out it was his job to make certain of that… Before I left the store! So he didn't ask for payment.

Hopefully he won't make that mistake again!

Have been a staff trainer for large organisations. So know HN training & supervision was totally inadequate in that case.
So HN decided not to persue my 'possible' lack of deposit payment. Probably to avoid embarrassment for manager.

                • +4

@INFIDEL: So you have managed to rationalise your dishonesty.

                  Congratulations.

                  • -4

@jackspratt: Lol! It's business! Very rational.

Your view is interesting, considering HN is frequently presented here as being dishonest😜

Because of that bad reputation & pocketing millions of public money during COVID, I haven't been in a HN store in years! Until this Deal.

It was a mistake by HN. So they simply wrote it off, like many businesses do. I owed nothing.

Wasn't dishonest as HN never asked for payment!
Was prepared to pay, but was never billed.

So a rare $250 windfall from HN. Nothing much in a business with current sales of $2.63B. But am rationalising🤣

I wrote off billing customers when my staff made mistakes. Asked staff to learn from their errors. My focus was on developing good staff & customer relations.

As HN should, by providing better training & support to staff - to avoid mistakes!

                  • -3

@jackspratt: As I've written about before… (Popular Comment badge)

My small business funded a social enterprise I set up & ran (without pay), training, employing, & supporting needy locals. All profits funded $10k community projects in first 6 months.

Since you're claiming the high moral ground… What selfless things have you done for your community & needy?

But to you, I am just dishonest for not paying a bill that was never presented, but written off because of a mistake by HN staff😜

        • -2

staff printed out a postage form with the barcode to send the mobile to the post office

That's strange. Sounds like staff were confused😞

No one else seems to have had that experience.
Just hand over old mobile, give details, receive new one.
Store sends the old mobile. They slipped mine into a clear plastic bag. Couldn't have been easier.

HN also run the Asurion Trade-In program - which has those complex mail in conditions.

I did end up with the item.

So you got the Nokia 110?

didn't give them my cc details.
there was a security charge of $1

But paid $1… For a FREE phone!
Should have asked for 36 month interest free offer🤣
          (Maybe it's refundable.)

If it's linked to your HN account, they could charge you a fee later😜 Hope not.

          • +1

@INFIDEL: Broadway did the postage label as well to send the phone in to Asurion. I suspect they do this out back usually but I could see them printing it out and they mentioned they just post the phone in.

Based on how mine went yesterday, Asurion prescribe a $1 value for the trade in. When I finished the trade in form online it generated a code which the HN staff then typed in and it generated a QR code printout which they scanned at the cashier to give a $1 credit to offset the $1 price for the Nokia 110 which is consistent with my receipt where I can see the ottal invoice $1, and then paid for using the code.

            • -1

@jace88: A strange complex process, for what was a very simple hand over for others.
As long as you received the phone.

One of the first to comment mentioned they had to sign a form. Guess that was this process

            • @jace88: @jace88
I'm located in Sydney and anticipated that the HN stores would be out of stock.
Consequently, I opted for the "https://tradeinwith.asurion.com.au" approach. QR code printed at the store, $1, but the staff told me they didn't have any stock. I went with the $1 store credit, (the old phone still with me, can't change for anything yet)

Does the success of your "Asurion" method depend on store availability of adequate stock?"

              • @sydney rider: Not sure what you’re getting at but it wasn’t a method. It’s what the staff instructed me to do in order to get the Nokia.

Btw did you read the terms and conditions of the Asurion site when you gave your CC details?

                • @jace88: I chose "other" as my 3G phone (a SONY btw), and it's expecting me return the phone with an exchange of just $1 HN credit. I'm finding a way to cancel it.
                  This route seems not work.

                  • @sydney rider: I still don’t understand what “route” you’re referring to? The one where you agreed to trade in a phone for a dollar? Good luck with cancelling… not sure how it all works since they implemented late/non submission fees across Asurion.

  • +5

Got one. And just realised, there are phones that have no WIFI.

    • +3

      As discussed several times.

They're just a frustrating keypad phone with a tiny non-touch screen.

Suited to those who have never used a smart phone!!

Giving mine to elderly relative. They'll be happy with a new 4G phone - only for Calls & Text.

Only good point - should have long battery life. There's little to use them for.

  • +1

Can I use this ghost my Bumble matches after a couple dates?

  • +2

HN Morayfield declined to acknowledge/honour the deal and there photo centre machines were down so I didn't even bother with https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/844337. I feel like success is highly dependent on the franchise store and whether they claim to have stock of the Nokia phone.

  • +2

After needing to go into the back office to confirm the details on how to undertake the recycle process … returned with the Nokia 110 for a free swap .. but said that alternatively the recycle offer also has the option to take $50 off any other Nokia phone in the store YMMV

  • +1

Love how harvey says the exchange isn't there/expired, then tries to sell you a new phone with plan

    • +3

LOL when I picked up the Nokia from Broadway the guy also asked me if I was interested in $500… off a new phone plan. Can't blame them for tryin'

  • Anyone having luck find stock in brisbane

    • +1

      Yes, HN Everton Park

      • Thanks, I will call them tomorrow to check if they have any stock left.

    • +2

Called ahead and got one without hassle from Aspley. I'm told they have plenty of stock. Also got this free photo print https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/844337

      • Aspley is far from where I live but thanks for letting me know

    • Called both HN. They don't have any stock now and no plans to restock

  • +3

went to booval with a bag of old 2g and 3g phones. staff member was strict and said it had to be a 3g phone in good condition that i was still using. i had to power them on he was reluctant to give me the offer. finally i convinced him to let me trade in one as i had made a long drive out to there. he choose to take my old htc 3g phone even thought the battery was flat. 1 still left in stock when i left late arvo. funny how staff are different and like to make their own rules. i got a receipt. with a free trial norton purchased at $0 listed on it that i didnt ask for, so now how do i get the $50 off a new phone offer too?.

  • +1

I was shocked to see this advertised on TV yesterday. They must have plenty of stock.

    • +1

where? I tried everywhere in Brisbane. Noone has stock.

      • +5

Exactly my point, I was being sarcastic. Typical of Gerry, advertise something you don't have in stock in order to get people to your stores.

        • +2

Some sellers have earned the wrath of the ACCC for having insufficient stocks and issue rain checks or make equivalent arrangements. I notice this offer fails to specify while stocks last though I've no idea whether that disclaimer really makes a difference.

            • +5

@WatchNerd: Can we explain that as incompetence rather than sleaze? They might have already committed the spend on advertising but I assume they would have another ad they could have substituted. Maybe a mother's day ad. I think it's counter productive to attract people to your store with the offer of a free phone and hope they'll buy product when they miss out. More likely to piss them off, besides which anyone checking stocks on-line will not bother visiting. It also seems dodgy that they are not publishing their T&Cs as far as I can see.

I hope people submit complaints to the ACCC. They should cite a TV ad being run on the 2nd last day of the offer when there is hardly any stock to be found as further evidence that HN is engaging in deceptive conduct.

      • did you find it in Brissie?

        • +2

Tired it last week everywhere, mt gravatt, Carindale etc. No stock.
I have not tried this week. I have checked online, and it does not seem they them in stock in brisbane

  • +2

My new Motorola has no headphone out. I listen all day while I work. My local says their in stock so am heading there today. Thanks OP I have a working very old $15 telstra phone I got for my son 11 years ago when he took the bus 40km to school.

  • Is it not for 4g ol phones? how do you know if your phone is 3g? I have old telstra locked phones that look similar to this nokia.

  • +1

I have exhanged an old zte phone to nokia. Rep told to fill the form in asurion tradein with name, phone and driving license with $1 as refundable deduction. I thought what is the catch but anyway thought let see.

I have taken the phone on 5th and posted the phone on 8th May. Got an email saying they haven't received the phone and when i contacted auspost they due to large volume the delivery might happen before 27th of May. Don't know why it takes so delay from brisbane to sydney!!

So in the email it was mentioned

Please note, a late return fee of up to $50 applies if you fail to return your trade-in device to us within 14 days of confirming your Trade ID in store. The late return fee is non-refundable

So if the phone doesnt reach with in 14 days will they charge late fees and it is not refundable. I think this is the catch and how can i avoid in case if they do that.

TDLR: sent phone but might delay due to auspost. may incur late fees as per email. How to avoid?

    • I got the confirmation email from Asurion that they'll be releasing the security charge today since they received my old Asus phone. Given I did it in store last Monday on 6/5, it means it took a little over a week to get there and that was right at the start of the campaign… so hopefully yours gets there within the 14 days.

      • good to know, store said they wont send the phone and told i.have to go to post office and being long weekend hwre in brisbane did on wednesday.

based on auspost reply i doubt it will reach with in 14 days. i think its late fees of $50 which i worry not the secuirty charge of $1. tgere is no proper email to contact as i sent a general enquiry. lets seehow it goes.

  • im sure if you visit a store today before closing time at 5:30pm and ask nicely that you dont want to miss out so can order one in for you. so as along as they create an invoice with your name and phone number dated today you should be ok.. called loganholme they said you have to come in before closing and show them your 3g phone works and they can back order it but not garrantee as there are already 15 on back order so good luck

    • +6

This is Harvey Norman we're talking about. Every franchisee, if not every employee makes up their own rules. There has been some mention of some credit voucher in lieu of the phone so that might be an alternative if its for the full RRP of the phone (and if not it may be on special later.) Some stores are open past 5:30pm too.

  • Does the phone have much resell value?

    • +1

      No.

    • +1

Looking at eBay today there's a couple which are auctions and are both bid up to circa $20. One even has the HN price tag on the photo.

  • +2

Blegh, the day I decide I actually need one of these for my kids I read the expiry of today :(

  • Anyone take advantage of the Norton 360 for mobile offer on the receipt? Odd considering it's not a smartphone, but seemingly a $50 HN voucher for providing your credit card details and signing up to a plan with a free trial period which you can cancel before being billed.

    • Correction, $20.

  • how do you take advantage of the Norton 360 for mobile offer on the receipt and get a $50 HN voucher? i seen a post about jh hi fi providing a $50 voucher for a 3g phone trade in but now i cant find it. dont know why it was unpublished. 3G Upgrade Offer $50 22-May-24 any one know how if works and have the full details of that jb hi fi offer?

    • +1

Sorry, $20. Instructions were on a ePay voucher attached to the receipt but I've no idea whether you might need specific voucher details to qualify as you need to supply payment details and I haven't proceeded past that point though I'd guess not. I guess the voucher was generated as my receipt has a $0 item for a Norton 360 60 day trial for Mobile which is of course useless for the phone. The URL given is https://au.norton.com/hnau-mobile-trial which just redirects to https://au.norton.com/ so the instructions are wrong but entering the promo code at the bottom of the screen gets you to the "Start Trial" page. Seems the promo code is generic so you're welcome to that: HNAU60DN360M Follow the instructions - which I haven't done. According to the voucher once you've activated the subscription follow this link: https://claim.norton.com/anz/hn-giftcard/ which leads on to the link coolsteps posted requiring the serial number from the installed Android or IOS app. This offer closes 30 Sep 2024.

i seen a post about jh hi fi providing a $50 voucher for a 3g phone trade in but now i cant find it. dont know why it was unpublished.

No details on that post, but I believe this was the link. Probably best to refer to the other JB HiFi trade-in offers about any gotchas. I may well be mistaken but I seem to recall people saying that you got the JB Bonus regardless of whether you returned the phone. If you return the phone you also get the trade-in value which for any 3G phone that turns on is $1.

Edit: You might have meant this post. Same link with an added tracker.

      • thanks Stingo i didnt realise that there should have been a second receipt printed that explained the steps to claim the $20 HN gift card. ill give it another try tonight.

        • Possibly only if the sales person added the trial to the original "purchase." It doesn't make a whole lot of sense to offer trials to those why buy phones incapable of running the software. If you go through with it please let us knows if there are any gotchas. I might have a go myself if I pick up a prepaid Mastercard.

  • i couldnt find $50 offer but receipt has a 60 day trial of Norton no idea how it can be claimed. ref this https://claim.norton.com/anz/hn-giftcard/how_to_claim.html?v… one expired last year but this url still looks claimable so no idea how to claim their $20 HN gift card

  • +1

Happy to report that I got a call from HN earlier this week to come and pick up this phone since it arrived earlier.
Note, I had to wait quite a bit till they get the Nokia specifically for me, there was no stock when I popped in early in May.
Picked up a blue one today, don't have to pay a penny.

    Hope it helps someone
    Cheers

P.S. I didn't get such an email and only had the screen shot from OB as the proof of the programme.

good to know that HN still accepting the offer for those that placed an order before the promo deadline. but i wonder if you managed to order one now if they would still let you claim the promo offer since the order invoice will be dated after may 13th?
on another side note jb hi fi has a good offer for any 3 or 4 g trade in ending tonight . you get issued a $1 gift card and a $50 coupon that you can use straight away. i purchased the cheapest $49 4g phone so after the coupon and the $1 gift card i paid for delivery only $5.99 out of my pocket https://jbhifi.squaretradeup.com.au/3g-phones/3g-models

Yeah, not sure about that. My order was from May 8th (just checked the invoice). I didn't ask if the party is over, but neither do I need one more, nor have more 3g Phones to swap.

Originally they didn't even have an idea of that recycle programme, so I was not holding my breath on this and actually forgot I've ordered it until they gave me a call.

You must have encountered a decent staff member and/or asked the right question. They certainly didn't go our of their way to inform people they could order the phones in and there are reports in this thread where staff explicitly stated they wouldn't be getting more in. I notice that none of the stores around me are shown as having any stock.
