From TA: How to determine the category of an item.

What will stop me getting my cashback

  • You must empty your Amazon cart prior to clicking from TopCashback. Failure to do so will result in an untracked purchase, and claims will not be approved.
  • Cashback is ineligible on purchase of gift cards, vouchers, Kindle Unlimited, Audible, mobile apps, Amazon Prime subscriptions & renewals, bulk orders, commercial or reseller purchases.
  • Cashback is ineligible if using any Amazon credit as partial or full payment. However cashback is eligible if using Amazon gift cards or gift card balance as payment.
  • Second and subsequent Subscribe & Save orders are ineligible for cashback (only first Subscribe & Save orders in eligible categories are eligible).
  • Cashback is ineligible if using any codes entered manually in the 'Promo Code' field.
  • Cashback is ineligible on use of any codes not approved and posted by TopCashback.

What else is essential

  • Cashback is eligible if using a gift card or Amazon gift card balance as payment.
  • You must start with an empty cart prior to clicking through to Amazon.
  • Pre-orders are eligible for cashback provided they are scheduled for shipment within 60 days of purchase, however they may not track to your account until shipped.
  • Engaging with plugins such as Honey, AdBlock, uBlock, Pi-hole, VPNs, and browsers such as Brave may prevent your order from tracking.
  • You must always return to TopCashback and click the pink cashback button through to the retailer's website for each new transaction. Ensure the TopCashback link is the last one used to visit the retailer's website prior to completing your purchase.
  • Any accounts that engage in fraudulent orders/activities to game/cheat the cashback system will be banned and cashback forfeited.

Good to know

  • Amazon reports transactions based on item instead of combined cart value. If you purchase multiple items in one order, they will report as multiple transactions in your TopCashback account.
  • Purchases from Amazon US/UK are ok, provided you navigate & make the transaction via Amazon AU.
  • Most retailers calculate cashback based on purchase amount excluding GST, other taxes, and delivery fees. Your cashback may report lower than expected due to this.
  • If an order is cancelled / returned / exchanged / modified, it will no longer be eligible for cashback and will be declined in your account.
  • To be eligible for cashback, all transactions must be completed solely & wholly online and must not be assisted/negotiated via phone/chat/email. Failure to do so will cause tracking to fail and/or have cashback declined.

TA's Handy Tips:

  • Amazon tracking typically takes 1-7 days to report into accounts (Amazon tracking is not instant).
  • For tracking success, ensure you disable 3rd party plugins (AdBlock, uBlock, Pi-hole, Honey, etc), VPNs, avoid browsers such as Brave, close any additional browser tabs, and don't click away to other sites looking for codes etc after clicking from TopCashbackAU as tracking will be lost. TopCashbackAU must be your last click (not 3-Camels etc).
  • For iOS device: Apart from ensuring you’re not using an AdBlock app for Safari, the most important one is to ensure you have ‘Prevent Cross-Site Tracking’ turned off (see here).
  • Try our iOS/Android mobile app for improved tracking results.
  • Use our contact form here for any questions or issues.
  • Claims can be submitted here.

    FINE! I'll buy a Kindle!

    • +1

      Just bought one yesterday dammit…

      • +1

        Return ?

      • +3

        Cancel and reorder !

        • This would be the OzBargain way.

I actually held off initially because was same day delivery on Wednesday, ticked over midnight and became 4 days so waited and then Friday back to same day so ordered, arrived and already set up.

          • @bamzero: Buy a new one now, and return the new one to the old order.

            • @bird380: Yeh thought about that, though not sure if good idea for Amazon device like this. Considering they can come prelinked to your account I assume they track the serial number. Good chance it doesn't matter, but I'll probably just suck it up this time anyway. Just under $10 difference in cashback, can't really be bothered packing it up and taking it in send (the sacrilege! :)

Hoping there will be some nice discounting come BF and can claim price protection on it.

              • @bamzero: yeah, it's really not worth the hassle for just a $10 difference. Repacking it, going to Australia Post, and waiting in line takes too much time and effort.

    @WatchNerd @Jimothy Wongingtons 15% Cashback on Watches & Shoes!

    • +3

Thankfully for my credit card balance the watches I’ve been .. watching are sold out on Amazon lol

      • Headache choosing the which. Chelsea boot seems the most popular on here. Not sure how easy it is to return/change a size with Amazon.

  • I ask for the collective OzB wisdom, is this item considered apparel?

    • +1

      It seems to be.

      • +1

        There's always the return window!

    • +12

If you are unsure, camels is usually a good indication at the bottom of the page.

      • That's a great tip, thank you

        • +13

          Hi @deeeno @trixieb @bamzero and others.

Just fyi. I strongly suggest not engaging with 3x Camels during your cashback shopping process. Most aren’t aware that 3x Camels operates as an affiliate just like all cashback sites, generating its income from your purchases via commission. A lot of untracked sales are directly attributed to them, and is the reason I shudder when I see their links in posts such as these.

If you really can’t avoid using them, make sure to keep them on a completely separate browser to your cashback browser (not a separate tab) to lessen the likelihood of lost cashback tracking. And always ensure the very last click you make before purchase is generated from your preferred cashback provider.

          All the best.

          • @tightarse: Yes, very good tip. I do use a clean separate browser for my cashback purchases and don't go near camels on that one.

On my general browser I have a lot of scripts and extensions to browse without the junk.

One thing that's a little concerning is one of them is Tag Remover For Amazon which strips affiliate tags from links and pops up a notification window when it does. I've noticed lately sometimes when opening an Amazon link directly (clean without any affiliate info in it but usually one I've opened before) it will still notify that it's removed an affiliate link, usually camels but sometimes others. I don't have the Camelizer addon installed so not sure if its a cache thing or what but if URL visits are getting attributed to affiliates like that, definitely going to be a problem for cashback.

Maybe TCB should have a link checker that tries to decipher the categories, sort of like AliExpress provides to check if its an affiliate link.

            • @bamzero: Thanks for the link, good to know about. Probably need to set up a separate browser for cashback tracking and run this on my main.

Haven't looked at how that works but most affiliate systems set cookies which hang around for a while (letting affiliates benefit from purchases you make hours later), wonder if it's picking up existing cookies rather than something in the link?

          • @tightarse: Same, procedure is open up separate browser, turn off adblocks, navigate to TCB, enter store, do manual searching to find items, make purchase.

Made the swim coat purchase, fingers crossed tracking comes through tonight.

Still waiting for my $5 bonus and cashback from the last deal :(

    • Is this a missing cashback claim? Could take a while.

      • It's not…my order hasn't been tracked. I might have to fill a missing cashback

        • Just checking if any promotional credits were added? It's one of the reasons orders don't track.

It's not always obvious and you have to untick the "Promotional credit box" at the checkout page under Payment method > Your available balance.

          • @trixieb: In my case no, hasn't tracked, ordered on 8th

          • @trixieb: Yes…I followed all the "don't". This is the second time I don't get bonus/tracked for the transaction.
I have made the claim for the first one. It's been "under investigation" for more than a month 😕

            • +1

@wils2k: @SwarleyAUS Sorry to hear. Here are some tracking tips that may help:

              • Use the TopCashback app, mobile data (not Wi-Fi) and Chrome browser. In the TopCashback app, click the pink button to the retailer.

              • Disable/remove firewall, ad-blocking extensions, 3rd party plugins (AdBlock, uBlock, Pi-hole, Honey, etc), VPNs, and avoid browsers such as Brave.

              • For iOS device with Safari, turn off ‘Prevent Cross-Site Tracking’.

            • @wils2k: Maybe something in your browser? I missed a track once because I had installed Windscribe extension and didn't realise they'd bundled an adblocker in it which was on by default and active even when the VPN was off.

I now have a portable browser set up without any extensions (apart from the cashback ones) and every kind of tracking and safety protection turned off that I use to make my purchases. Only one I've really had problems with since is Temu which I think is a problem at their end, but TCB has always come through after a claim.

              • @bamzero: I don't reckon that's the case. Since they track my other cashback (eg: AliExpress, eBay, Myer, even BWS).

But yeah, thanks for the input and I might have to fill another missing cashback claim.

    • Should cashback track before order items ship?

      • Not at all

  • For the 'Apparel' category are shirts, jackets etc included?

    • Hope so. Apparel = Clothing.

      • Dunno why they don't just call it clothing

  • Do first party kindle covers count under 'Amazon Devices'? e.g. https://www.amazon.com.au/Amazon-Paperwhite-Lightweight-Wate…

  • Daymn, GPU only got 1%, no love.

  • +1

Could it go up even more by Monday?

  • Is there a cap? Since I don't see one listed. See cashrewards also running the same offer.

If there isn't one would be pretty good for getting one of the higher end kindles like a scribe and get 125$ off. Might be ATL?

    • The rates are uncapped. Happy shopping!

TopCashback has higher rates for all the other categories and includes all categories too.

  • The rates have been changing every day, so maybe keep an eye on it.

Managed to make use of "Home Improvement" going for 10% yesterday to purchase some new security cameras.

    • As usual, they up the rates of some categories on day 1 and some on day 2 and … They also used to up all categories on a single day before. And had multiple bonus cashback to stack too. Similar to other holiday shopping seasons, retailers can lower the profit per order as long as they can earn more shoppers to pay, the total profit will be the same or higher.

  • Using payto promo still eligible for cashback?

    • It says Cashback is ineligible if using any codes entered manually in the 'Promo Code' field.
But payto promo is automatically applied promo code without the need for entering the code manually

      • +2

Cashback is not eligible and it probably won't track. If you don't manually apply, Amazon applies the discount which can be found in the "Promotional credit box" at the checkout page.

For cashback to be eligible, it has been recommended to "untick the Promotional credit box" at the checkout page under Payment method > Your available balance.

        From TA:

The only balance that you can use towards payment is from your Amazon Gift Card Wallet (balance). Any Amazon credit that you receive from buy/get promos, or make-good from partial refunds etc are ineligible. Hope this helps.

        T&Cs:

Cashback is ineligible if using any Amazon credit as partial or full payment.

        • +1

          Thanks for the clarification!

        • So, it won't track?

          • +1

@gamesnepal: It won't track when a promotional credit is applied. Several comments including this one.

TA also suggests not to submit a missing cashback claim as cashback is ineligible. See here.

            • @trixieb: Took a gamble and it actually tracked with 2 pormo codes used together, one from payto and one from buy/get promos. Let's see if it gets approved but only $2 cashback so not a big loss if eventually rejected.

              • @hambogan: Good luck and let us know if cashback is paid.

  • +1

    Thanks OP. Bought a t-shirt

  • What's a switch 2 fall under?

Do you need to be a Prime member as well?

    • Switch 2 would fall under "All Other Purchases" at 1% cashback.

For cashback, you don't need Prime membership. However Amazon has discounted many items exclusive to Prime members only. You won't be able to buy at those prices if you're not a Prime member.

  • Echo show 10 seems like a good deal! Do i need it though….

  • +6

These promos are pretty shitty for people who buy literally a day or two before.

Like why keep raising the rate in a short period, just so people who bought previously feel a bit shittier about their purchase.

Just makes me not want to buy early in case a later rate will be higher.

    • +2

Yep, literally in line at auspost sending back my kindle and case now just to reorder later today. Savings of $12 so worth it for me. Surely costs Amazon more!

    • I got burned by this before when I didn't buy right away waiting for high cashback but ended up losing stock. It does suck but it's really hard to balance things out especially on items that are popular/have low stock… I think they do this to reel people in again since they would assume most have checked out their shopping list already on the early days because that's what happened to me - I don't have anything in mind to buy right now but felt the urge to search around more cause of the high cashback rates.

      • it's really hard to balance things out especially on items that are popular/have low stock

        It's very easy actually.

Disable backup payment methods in your Amazon account settings and charge your purchases to a card that has no funds.

From when the payment declines you have 7 days to update the payment method while you wait and see if a better cashback rate or a price decrease comes along. Also secures you the stock in case it sells out.

        • That's actually a good idea. However, do you have any information on what happens to cashbacks using this method? Like for example if the cashback doesn't increase further and I decide to update the payment method to pay for the order, would the cashback still be eligible?

          • @Haunt: I've been doing this for years with no issues in regards to cashback.

I think Amazon just needs to receive payment within 60 days to be eligible for cashback? (basing this on the fact that pre-orders are eligible if they are charged for and shipped out within 60 days)

            • @HomeAlone: Thanks for the tip. I will definitely try to keep that in mind for the next prime day!

  • I had a kindle with broken screen, still usable. I have a boox which I like very much. This deal has good price, very tempting to replace

  • +2

Bought a kindle Paperwhite at $229 day 1.

Price dropped to $217, bought a second one and going to refund the first one.

Now Cashback is upped to 25%, should I buy the third one and refund the 2 previous ones?

Being an ozbargainer I feel like I should

    • Yes

    • Yes.
What category do you select to avoid return fee?

      • +1

Yeah same question here. the the item was not meeting expectations is gone now

  • +1

Should be decreasing not increasing cashback rates! Annoying. I won't bother reordering Kindle and returning the first order.

    • Amazon would have increased cashback on the Kindle as the cashback sites run similar promotions on the main categories. Annoying as it is and probably not worth returning.

  • Will this work for Amazon Japan purchases made through amazon.com.au?

    • +1 also want to know if it includes items from Amazon sold internationally

    • yes

    • +1

      @BargainBoozer @SwaggyE

Amazon Japan should be fine, provided the purchase is made through Amazon AU. I checked with TA last month.

      T&Cs:

Purchases from Amazon US/UK are ok, provided you navigate & make the transaction via Amazon AU.

      • +1

        Thanks for the intel mate!

  • Will cashback track if I click 'Move to cart' from my saved items list? Thanks

  • I noticed lot of apparel (not all) I had in my saved "Your Items" prices went up by 15-20%

    • I'd not compare to last prices but to atl prices. That's the ozb way. But it does need sufficient time to check and make the right decision.

      • i'm talking overnight here

  • Bought a kindle on Amazon about 4 hours ago and TopCashback hasn’t tracked. Is this normal?

    • Amazon tracks the next day. You should see the tracking tomorrow.

      In the post description:

Amazon tracking typically takes 1-7 days to report into accounts (Amazon tracking is not instant).
