  • Great price if you like the colour

    • colour is really good

      • +1

That wasn’t a criticism, just depends on preference in colours.

My current pair of runners are the wave rider 27 in coral which aren’t to a lot of peoples taste

    • +1

I don't consider colour to be important for running shoes. Function is king. Can quite often save around $50 off the price of good running shoes by picking a particular colour that I assume isn't selling as well as others.

    • +4

You want black? Burn a block of wood, get the charcoal, smear it on da shoes.
Want red? Peel some beetroot, then rub the shoes on it.
Want blue? bleach your jean, collect the water, soak the shoes in it.
      Want yellow/orange? try Turmeric.

  • Can anyone compare these to model of a runner from another company - unfamiliar with the Mizhuno line.

    • Similar to asics

      • i would say the wave rider is WAVE lighter than asics XD

      • this is probably most accurate, mizuno has small but loyal fanbase, their quality is up there id argue slightly better than asics even due to their Japanese heritage

        • +1

They were the only brand I wore as a runner, back when. Being lightweight and neutral they perfectly suited me as a 70kg-ish supinating runner/triathlete.

My only complaint would be the way the glue starts to let go of the tread, seemingly more based on age than wear/care.

        • +6

You do realise that ASICS is also Japanese right?

      • So, for narrow feet?

    • I ran in Nimbus for close to 10 years, switched to Mizuno (Wave Sky and Wave Runner) and wish I used them earlier.

They feel kinda similar to asics but more responsive and much better made

      • So would be like a responsive nimbus?

        • More or less, yes. The Wave Sky is closer to a responsive Nimbus. These are more responsive again

My comparison is for running 10k three time a week.

Responsiveness aside they are much better build quality than Nimbus (outsole, mid sole and upper)

        • Mizuno Energy (one of the variations) was tested to be the most bouncy foam in the world. So yeah.

    • I have these and they're very good for jogging. Just ran 10km and they were superb. Best runners I've ever used.

    • +3

I would for another 50 off I guess.

    • +8

A bloke might not but a male runner would.

      • Can confirm, am a male runner. (Also I really enjoyed the Wave Rider 26 and 27!)

    • +2

I used to care about the color of my running shoes, even though I actually don’t mind the color of these particular shoes.

But then I realized I’ve never once paid attention to the color of anyone else’s running shoes, or how good they look.

    • There are studies out there showing that neon colours make runners perform better even if it’s just psychological.

    • +6

a bloke wouldnt care about the style of another mans shoes.

  • imo wave rider series has been a solid runner all these years. 99 is an acceptable buy, 89 would be ATL if you refer to its previous gens.

I have too many running shoes for my single pair of foot but i would wait and buy a wave rider 28 for collection purpose. wave rider 29 is hideous AF

  • $20 shipping!

    • Hi shipping is $12.95 or $20 for shipping for 1 pair depending on your location within Australia.

  • I bought these before and didn't like the huge drop in them.. I believe these might suit heel strikers

  • Do they have good arch support like the Kayano’s?

    • +2

the mizuno Inspire line is the stability ones, wave rider has some arch support due to the wave plate but not as pronounced as the Inpire

  • Nice, but just pay extra and pay $250 and get current gen for psychological benefits?

    • +6

      That's not very Ozbargain mindset

  • what's a good Mizuno shoe for light casual running and heaps of gym work? Some sort of lightweight race shoe with a thinner sole?

  • -1

I owned Wave Rider 26 and 27, which I bought because of some fake reviews that were all the rage last year. It both all very normal running shoe without any special merits that can be bu**t about!!! Wave Rider 26 wears out much faster than Wave Rider 27 within 40 to 60 km of normal daily walking. After about 6 to 7 months, Wave Rider 26 is basically useless. Base quality leave is no longer available, if it ever existed.

    • +2

To be fair, these models are not normal casual walking shoes (say for example 5-8 hours a day of standing, at compressed state) than a daily runner (1-2 hrs of running, at both compressed and relaxed state from strides). So the wear rate for normal walking is not exactly a good indicator for how wear is for running.

  • Would a men's US 10 in Asics be similar to a men's US 10 in Mizuno?

  • What’s the width on them?

  • Horrible colour

    • i think it's a great colour for runners. but for people wanting to wear it for causal or occasional runner yeah.

  • Wave riders are great running shoes. That colour is something else but who cares.

  • Only US8 and US10 left in stock

  • Anyone could give a tip regarding size? Usually a 10.5 but wonder if this model is like the neo ones which are on the loose side.

  • +1

I got the waverider 28 from the athlete foot at 110. These are the most durable running shoes. My running speed with these shoes are better than with my Nimbus 27, Kayano 30, NB fuelcell rebel v4, vongo v6. But still not as good as 361 degrees flame 4.

  • I have the wave inspire 19. 2 years on and nothing has come loose. Sole will wear out before the shoe. On my feet 3-4 days a week walking job. Most comfortable show in this price range I have ever had.even better than the ASICS. Wife has gone through two pairs of ASICS to my one Mizuno which I wear more. I'm 100kg for reference . Will def buy again wide fit was perfect.

  • Got mine today. Very quick delivery. Fit great! Forgot how good Mizuno's are when they fit!
