$89.95 at Amazon for those who'd prefer delivery

Is this really a deal though? Launch pricing for a new game? (I guess it's cheaper than JB?)

    • delivery now showing available for me at target

    • You link a more expensive deal by $15. Target does free delivery and is well below rrp and your link. Then you ask if Target is a deal.

      • Oh but here's the thing… You commented.

If you actually looked at the history of the deal before commenting a braindead reply, it was 89 click and collect only prior to revisions, excluding welcome code which wasn't mentioned at the time of my comment.

Perhaps take a moment to read before cracking on at someone else.

        • That is a glitch in the system if true at all. Target free delivery above 59. No comment

    • I'd say given jacked up prices for NS2 games, this IS the price it should be at launch.

  • how to get the newsletter code?

  • +1

$89 should not be the new norm for games, don't encourage companies at this price

    • +5

If only $89 was the norm; this is $109.95 RRP.

Target doing what they can with what they get imo.

    • $79 with newsletter sign up

    • I remember picking up original Smash Bros for N64 for about $89 from Big W in 2000 or something. It had a $99.95 RRP if I recall. Adjusted for inflation, that $89 would be over $170+ now. So, paying the same price as my Y2K Smash Bros for games seems fine imho.

      • I remember paying $109 for the Sega Megadrive game of Ren and Stimpy back in 1993~ish… that’s like $8,000 in today’s money…

  • +1

Crazy price for video games, absolutely bonkers when $89 is considered a bargain at this economic climate.

    • +2

$79. Cheaper than SNES and 64 games but yea I hear you

      • ^ this

I commented above re N64 games too lol

    • +2

should go spend $200 in the pub or sports betting instead, right?

      • Weird take, from where did you come up what that?

      • -1

I signed up to TAB at 2:55pm yesterday and put $20 on Half Yours then cashed out $189 at 3:30pm

        • +1

And you didn't post it as a deal!??

          • @belongsinforums: I gave my mates chat a couple of hours notice of who was going to win. It was pretty obvious after the overnight weather.

    • +2

$89 is a bargain when you consider historical prices. NES games were $100 back in 1990, which would be $241 when inflation adjusted.

      • -3

Right i hear you, but it doesn't change the fact a $90 video game is still really expensive in this day and age.
Like, buying 5 of these cartridges would almost equal the price of the Switch 2 console itself.

Its pretty much the equivalent of the printer & cartridge business model, except in this case the printer* is already ridiculously expensive for what it is.

        • And buying 4 x N64 games was the same as the N64 console at launch ($399). Makes the Switch 2 sound cheaper! Sick!

          • @lasterato: Except 20 years ago food, health care, insurance, houses, mortgages, rent, employment isnt what it is now.

            Sick indeed.

            • @Nivlac: Neither were salaries. It's all relative.

              • @lasterato: Nope, an average family man could afford to support his family of 3 or 4 on his salary alone back then.

                Try that now.

      • -4

Not so much a bargain when you also consider nintendo games made today still look like they were made back in 1990.

      • +2

Less numbers of people purchased games back then relative to today. It should be cheaper I think as larger numbers of people buy these days.

With the pricing exhibited by Nintendo - it’s them pushing their perceived value - and blind fans or consumers just encourage that perception by lapping it up.

I guarantee you - should the larger masses decide not to purchase at these high prices - the prices will go down one way or the other.

      • +1

That's nonsense, producing the cartridge was what brought about the cost. Today's games cost like 10cents to print a disc.

    • I wouldn’t call it crazy, when I got my ocarina of time and Majoras mask on N 64 as a kid this was the price it was around if not more back 20 odd years ago.

  • This is likely going to be a bargain bin game in 1-2 years.

    • +3

      Remind me

    • I’m a massive Nintendo sap, and love Mario and link games, but this just looked lame when they did the game release previews. I’ll wait and see what people think

      • Did you play age of calamity?

        • I didn’t , just Tears, Breath, and Echos on switch

      • There's like 70 reviews on meta already, averaging 4/5

        • I’m pumped for Metroid 4…. Maybe will look at this after that

          • @Onemoredeal: Metroid 4 - that I hope will live up to the prior games.

Looking forward to it as well.

    • Not a chance. Go check the last gen Age of calamity price history.

      • -1

        Yes a chance.

It’s $44 on EB games preowned. It’s still expensive for the type of game.

        • -1

if they add DLC like they did to the last one, expect it to be even more expensive for a complete version

          • @belongsinforums: I’ll leave it to you. Will not touch this game as it’s not appealing, especially for the price.

            • @YoursTruly: musou games never interested me until age of calamity. its rare that i finish a game these days but i loved age of calamity

        • -1

$44 game never appears in bargain bin.

    • +1

Game runs smoothly handheld. Overall feels more polished than age of calamity. Haven't tried coop using gameshare but apparently that's a thing

    • Do any bonuses interest you?
I will get a chance to play 2 player co-op on the weekend at my cousins place.

      Additional bonuses
If you have save data from The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom or Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, you’ll receive an Eminent Guard’s Sword or Eminent Guard’s Claymore respectively when you play. These weapons can be redeemed after returning to the Hyrule map upon completion of The Howling Tempests mission.

      Compatible with amiibo
Scan any The Legend of Zelda series amiibo figure (sold separately) to get in-game rewards including crafting materials and other items that you might find helpful in your quest to defeat Ganondorf!

      Team up with a friend
Join up with a friend for two-player local co-op, and you can spread out to cover more ground as the war unfolds – or stick together and combine your powers to smash the opposition. Play split-screen on the same console, or on two separate consoles via GameShare*.

      • The save data bonuses? Meh. I'm just here for the story and playable Zelda
