Just noticed this in the West Australian last Friday, although I haven't been able to take a photo of it yet, but it was a Sony Centre advertisement selling these babies from 1599AUD to 999AUD. Sweet lookin' hybrid, it's apparently like a desktop meant to be easily moved around the house, maybe perfect for a computer downstairs or in the living room, or for the wifey or kids, or just a space-saving new home office desktop.

Quick Specs:

  • Intel Core 2 Duo Processor 2.1gHz T8100
  • 2 GB DDR2 RAM
  • 200gb 5400 rpm HDD
  • Integrated Wireless (802.11 b/g/n)
  • Integrated Webcam
  • 15.4" widescreen 1280x800
  • Windows Vista Home Premium

No graphics card though, and no video out. Ho well.

Just figured if you were getting a a laptop for this price this has good guts and it's real flash looking (although really, I'm not sure if you can take it around easily. Haha. It's got a battery though.)

Not sure if this is available in the other states, but I'd assume it is if we get it here in Perth. Might be worth ringing Sony Centre for it.

    Whoops scotty sorry did I do something wrong? Hey Tantryl, again I saw it in the paper, but the price doesn't seem to be advertised online.. I rang the sony centre in Perth CBD and they confirmed the price. Dunno if it'll be the same price in the other states.

    … and I just don't get it.

    I played with one in the Toyko Sony Centre and, well, to be honest, I wasn't overly impressed. It seemed uncomfortable to use - you have the keyboard so close to the monitor, and it's only portable within the family home, what with so much of the screen exposed. Why not just get a laptop?

      I have to agree — a laptop is much more versatile and not necessarily more expensive (might even be cheaper!) but hey, it's a SONY.
