Against my better judgement with no time to play this until later this year I bought it.

Camelx3 Amazon lowest price is $19 (currently $109 for hard copy), gamersgate usual price $19

Great selection of D&D classics (copied from gamersgate.com):
Bundle Includes:

Baldur’s Gate 1 & 2 + Expansions [Average Metacritic: 91%] “…reigns supreme over every RPG currently available, and sets new standards for those to come“ – PC Gamer Developer: Bioware

Icewind Dale 1 & 2 + Expansions [Average Metacritic 85%] “Once in a while, a game comes along that completely takes over your life. “ – IGN

Planescape: Torment [Metacritic 91%] “Is it possible for a computer game to have the intellectual heft and emotional impact of a good book while remaining as captivating as a well-paced film? If so, the first candidate may well be Planescape: Torment. . “ – New York Times

The Temple of Elemental Evil [Metacritic 71%] “A rock-solid RPG that faithfully re-creates a classic adventure.“ – Gamespy

  • Anyone know if these are playable on a modern system? they're obviously not the Good Old Games redux versions?

    • +2

I dunno, but I keep a 10gb winxp partition for this sorta thing.
a while back I got to clock quake again, with an authentic crt monitor. it rocked.

  • "Endure.. in enduring grow strong", Dak'kon.

    Baldur's Gate
Baldur's Gate: Tales of the Sword Coast
Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn
Baldur's Gate II: Throne of Bhaal
    Icewind Dale
    Icewind Dale II
Dungeons & Dragons: The Temple of Elemental Evil
    Planescape: Torment

Windows 7 supported so assume these games will work on any modern PC. As these aen't exactly processor and video intensive games.

    • Thanks, in my excitement forgot to list the games :(

  • Nice collection, shame NWN isn't included (best RPG game ever made without a doubt)

EDIT: also on sale - http://www.gamersgate.com/DD-DDNWNC/dungeons-and-dragons-nev…

(best RPG game ever made without a doubt)

Not even close. Planescape: Torment is like The Wire to NWN's Neighbours.

      • Well maybe I came on a little strong, as I haven't played torment and so can't comment there… I should say the best I have played (and far better than any of biowares recent crap). However I think you do nwn a disservice, the shear amount of community content elevates it way above neighbours, and HoTU was just awesome. Have you played HoTU?

        • Haven't played HoTU but I agree that the modding community is something special. It's the original campaign that left a rather bad impression.

          I haven't played torment

You know what you must do :) Wish I could play it for the first time again!

        IMO 100% agree with tycn

but sometimes it depends on how old you were, if the game corresponded with your easy student/dole n' pot days, if you could get a lan up with friends, etc etc.

        • +1

That's it… Nwn LANs are probably the best gaming I have ever done… That and UT

    • My vote goes to Baldurs Gate II, although I never played Planesape Torment which many people rank ahead of that one.

    • +1

The mechanics of Torment show their age, but I've played every game in this box set as well as all the NWN's. I'd rate Torment about 95/100 and Baldurs gate/NWN 80/100 by comparison.

Yes, torment is just that good.

  • The Temple of Elemental Evil is the only game I haven't played out of them so probably not worth buying it. Planescape: Torment is the best game I have ever played and I have played quite a lot of games. IMO nothing comes close to it. My next fav game is X wing :) that was damn hard and rewarding when you complete a hard level. Man those games bring back great memories.

  • Great deal. I got most of these in a similar looking anthology a while back, except it had NWN1+2 instead of temple and planescape.

  • damn, aren't these abandon ware yet?
