If you wear the Acuvue Daily Moist contact lens, then this price from SpecSavers is pretty amazing! $14.99/box of 30 including free shipping! free shipping ends 30/4/13. Uncertain when the special on the contacts run until. They're usually over $30/box from other online sites. My order arrived in the mail in about a week after ordering. Make sure you get your prescription from your optometrist so you have the correct fitting if you never worn them before.

If you buy from SpecSavers and have private health insurance (selected ones, check specsavers website for more info), you can claim your optical allowance back as some online contact stores don't let you because they are overseas.

Enjoy :)

  • I wear biweekly lenses but these might be handy to have around for those days when I'm not bothered to take my lenses out and clean them and put them in their case. Hmmmm

    • i can't really imagine wearing anything but dailies. just rip them out before you go to sleep and put them into the bin. no cleaning. too easy

glasses are even easier (which is what i usually do)

      • I do the same, my power isn't that bad so I don't need glasses/lenses all the time. I use dailies and chuck them out before I sleep, no need to fuss with sterilisation and cases.

        • -1

i've worn fortnightly reusable for 15 years.

Seriously, it's no effort to squirt a bit of liquid in the case, drop your lens in and screw the lid on. It takes longer to peel the foil off the fresh lens than to use lens case. sterilisation is not necessary.

        • +4

pls don't listen to this person

sterilisation is very necessary, make sure you rub your lenses for 10 seconds on each side with multi-purpose solution before storing them in the case.

consequences are mainly - inflammation of the eye or worse if corneal ulcer from infection

      • I wear contacts every single day and would find it too expensive to wear dailys (plus I wear toric lenses which are dearer) so I go with fortnightly lenses. I like to have dailys when I travel interstate or overseas though as the convenience outweighs the price.

Also, how are these compared to acuvue oasys?

        • From past experience:

          Daily - biweekly
          Moist - acuvue 2
          Trueye - oasys

Though the biweekly ones may start off fine but towards the end of the wearing schedule the comfort level tends to decrease a little, ymmv. Acuvue moist isn't as comfortable as oasys if you plan to wear them throughout the day but is fine if you put them on before leaving home and remove them when you get back home and switch to glasses.

        • I switched from oasys to moist and had some trouble initially. The dailies are thinner so it's flimsier and thus harder to put on.

On the subject on price, I factored in a 10% chance of accident with the biweekly (falling asleep with them on, losing it down the sink, swimming pool, knocked out of the eye) in addition to cleaning solution and it works out to be about the same pric.

    • I mainly use fornightlies too (I actually find the dailies to be more irritating/causing dry eyes once it hits evening), but I have a bunch of Acuvue Moist dailies I use when I'm going out somewhere — you don't need to worry about cleaning/storage/etc. at 3 o clock in the morning, and it's way easier to take a backup pair for the next morning than carrying solution with you.

  • Thanks , bought 2 boxes

  • same price at clearlycontacts, in case this one runs out!
    http://www.clearlycontacts.com.au/1-day-acuvue-moist

    • not free shipping

    • And you can't claim insurance rebates from Bupa because Clearly Contacts is from overseas. I think it is a bloody conspiracy.

Anyway, I got 2 boxes from this deal.

      • clearly contacts works with HBF. Also I placed an order from Clearly Contacts in Feb. Their invoices have a NSW address
        Unit 25, 566 Gardeners Road
        Alexandria, NSW , 2015
        1-800-639-478
PS SpecSavers is from overseas too (believe they are a UK company).

great price but very tedious ordering process, and wtf is it with not delivering to PO Boxes ?!?

    • I don't get it either. The Post Office takes almost everything except stuff from DHL, UPS and FEDEX.

    • Use parcel lockers if you have one close by?

  • nice but I prefer my monthly continuous wear ones. Pop them in and forget about them for a month.
I couldn't imagine having to remove them every day.

    • Which one do u use and how much they cost?

  • -4

    You had me at moist

Then realised it was for contacts…

  • +1

Isn't it against the law to sell prescription contact lenses without a prescription in Australia? At least that's what I was told last time I went in store.

    • I think that's why they make you tick a box agreeing that you are in posession o a valid script

  • Just ordered! For those having trouble with the PO box, I sent it to my Parcel Locker without any hassles.

  • Acuvue lenses are friggin' horrible. Anybody want a ocuple of hundred of pairs I got from specsavers and can't wear?

    • prolly want to post your prescription…

      • (I was only joking, who wants to buy something advertised as "Friggin' horrible?")

    • what do you find bad about them ?
What does you optometrist say about it ?
Why did you buy 100's of pairs ?

      • They don't attach nicely to your eyes, falling in and out of focus. (same size and prescription that I use with other brands with no problem)
        He doesn't believe me.
Daily usage ones, Health insurance, bought as many pairs as my benefit paid for.

  • +1

Make sure you get your prescription from your optometrist so you have the correct fitting if you never worn them before.

True. And thanks for posting this deal. Good op to stock up!

If you haven't worn contacts before I'd recommend acuvue trueye as they're a lot firmer to hold and insert for first time users. Much more comfortable too but the moist version is a lot cheaper and good enough if you're not going to wear it from early morning to late at night.

I think a more value for money compromise is the biweekly disposable acuvue oasys. Feels somewhere between the two and works out to be cheaper in the long run if you plan to wear contacts frequently.

edit just saw they're also having the acuvue oasys on sale for $24.99, pretty good deal too :)

    • I agree that the TruEye is better for the reasons you've mentioned.

Just keep in mind that the Oasys is only available in 8.4 and 8.8 base curve. So if your prescription is 8.6 (like myself) I believe they may not fit properly. Whereas the Moist and TruEye are available in 8.5, which is only 0.1 off, and fits fine.

  • good deal
thought i'd add that i've been wearing daysoft silk's (www.daysoftcontactlenses.com) for about 4 months now, and for cheap lenses they're actually really good
2 months supply (4 boxes of 32 lenses) is £21.96 inc shipping from the uk, which was about $32 AUD on the 28degrees

    • That's pretty good price.

In term of comfort, will this be as good as TruEye?

      • I've never tried TrueEye sorry
Comparing the water content will give you an idea

  • $14.95 but your order needs to be over $100 to get free shipping:
    http://www.clearlycontacts.com.au/1-day-acuvue-moist?ilid=ln…
I usually get Acuvue Oasys lenses from clearlycontacts. They are HBF's list for online contact lenses (check your insurance provider). Last time I ordered they threw in free polarised sunglasses as mystery gift in my shipment too.

  • How about a sale on the Acuvue Moist for Astigmatism?

  • Anyone get theirs

They sent me 3 packs instead of 2

Also got a free pack as the shipment was delayed and they sent me a courtesy pack via express post while i was waiting for it to arrive
