  • standard price for 640GB ..

    • I think its should be pretty good deal for an 32mb cache hard drive.

As i searched on Staticice http://staticice.com.au/cgi-bin/search.cgi?q=640gb+32mb&spos… the cheapest 640gb 32mb cache i can find is $130+

    • +1

      @elcheapo; "standard price for a 640GB"

Not for a Seagate (and this deal IS for a Seagate, need to compare apples with apples) - maybe take your own advice and "check staticice before you post"?

      http://staticice.com.au/cgi-bin/search.cgi?q=ST3640323AS&spo…

Lowest price on Staticice is $131. Mwave are doing it for $97.45.

Absolute cheapest any 640GB drive on Staticice is $95, followed by $98. But Western Digital != Seagate.

.. then again, given Seagate fiascos of late, some might prefer if it wasn't a Seagate.. each to their own

      • lol.. yeah..

seriously, i dunno why so many people care about hard disk brands?

I've personally had over 30 drives of all different brands maxtor/seagate/western digital and NONE have failed on me.

really depends on how well u treat it.

most drives that stuff up are due to overheating i.e hardcore usage on hot days.

All my drives are equipped with their own fan so my drives never fails.

  • C'mon. It's a Seagate. And 640GB ought to be enough for "anybody", right?! That's more than all the hard drives added up together at my place…

    • you need to buy some hard drives at mwave then Scotty ahahaha =)

    • In my opinion "It's a Seagate" is a con, not a pro.

  • Sweet, just ordered one, plus the Astone ISO gear + 99c bicycle computer. Best $138 ever spent.

I just hope this isn't the model that bricks itself!

  • Bargain for a 7200rpm, 32mb, 640gb drive…. but average if you just want a 640gb drive.

  • I don't think anybody will have a problem completing the B.G. quote.
I'm very tempted by this deal.
    +1 from me.
    [ :- { )

  • but apparently it's not even a bill gates quote.

PS a WD 750gb is only $105 at MSY

  • I was tempted to buy 4 of these, but now i am getting 2nd thoughts. Came across a lot of people having had issues with the new seagate 32mb cache drives.
