Yeah, I'm really surprised at that considering how GoPro has kind of taken over (almost created the action cam industry) but it is true, lots of bugs and glitches.
Does anyone know if this is restricted to the Black edition or are poeple having problems with the GoPro 3 models in general. I know GoPro 2 was pretty much flawless.
Not sure on what the bugs and glitches are others are talking about, but from my experience with the silver edition, the only problem I've had is a "No SD" card error occasionally when trying to connect the gopro to my computer through the USB cable to export video. When I had that problem I just inserted the SD card directly into my pc.
Have probably used it for about 20-30 hours recording.
The bugs are with the black edition. That obvious why. The silver edition is the gopro2 with wifi repackaged. so the firmware is pretty much the same. That had to redevelop the firmware for the black edition. hence the bugs.

I'm still thinking. GoPro Hero3 Black or Sony Action Cam? With Action Cam at least $100 cheaper…

Thanks for the vid, some videos I see in youtube the colour is either better in Sony Cam or better in GoPro. I think I'd go for Sony Cam at this stage cause I just want to use it for fishing and cheaper is better!
keep in mind that i am yet to see raw video of the two that will really be a fair comparison. Also remember it appears that Sony has a better image quality with image stabilization off. with it on its definitely worse but much more stable.
Oh definitely need stabilisation for the kayak… The thinking continues…

The Silver edition of the HD Hero 3 is more in-line with the Sony Action Cam, which is considerably cheaper than the Black edition.
My vote's for the GoPro - more mounts, more modes, and comes with a flat lens so it's still good for underwater footage (the Sony is curved and will blur slightly).Plus, with Protune you can make the colours a lot better than seen in the video.
not that im promoting for the sony. but the fact its cheaper.
The sony has attachments that will let it fit on gopro mounts. The sony also has a flat lens that you can buy. may be better as a side helmet mount
But the sony has crap wifi range, attachments are very few in box, and you wont look like one of the cool kids had u bought the gopro.
you could always add it on in post processing…
Take note though, the sony action cam can't have it's modes' changed without taking it out of its casing. Whereas the GoPro can. It makes it alot easier in some situations where you're wearing gloves or am in the water(where you can't take the sony out).
The other week i saw the Sony action cam at DSE for about $240 when buying my 3DS. Check your local DSE =]

A Contour is half the price with much easier on/off control. Better as a helmet cam esp.

The contour roam can be had for around $200 locally at Hardly normal/Ted's and slightly less on eBay. The roam 2 is slightly more and come in different colours. These are waterproof without a casing and the profile and big switch makes it perfect for mounting on the side of a helmet and operating with gloves.

i bought my first one for about $165 shipped from amazon one year ago and the cheapest price i have ever seen is $99 each (lightning deal). i could ve bought roam 2 for about $180 a while ago…..

Really now. so you are saying its illegal to sell something unless your a official dealer? I think you need to read that article properly. the take down notice was for the url of the review and had not even linked to the store.there was no copyrighted material on the review url.
