Quicksales now "almost" seller-fee free

Via LifeHacker, it appears that QuickSales has now abolished the seller fee. Base on their company announcement,

We are very pleased to announce that from today quicksales is 100% FREE to sell. That's right, no final value fees whatsoever irrespective of what you are selling or the category in which you sell. 100% free to sell across the board - no exclusions, no disclaimers and no question that quicksales is the best value marketplace in Australia, if not the world!

Pretty obvious that it saw its chance to compete against eBay after their fee hike starting this month. It's "almost" fee-free though, as according to its seller fees page, you can still pay for the promotional feature fees, ranging from $15 to be featured on front page, to $1 for bold title.

Still, a welcomed change I guess, but not sure whether it's too late. I am sure we will be getting more listing from Quicksales.com.au. The site was previously banned on OzBargain as too many people listed their private sales, but I've just unbanned it. We'll also be looking at requirement/features similar to what we have with eBay, i.e. ABN or "top seller" required.

  • their page looks very ebay like 5 years ago.
I like it. simple, no flashing stuff, no scrolling stuff. I have some stuff to sell. I will try them

  • Interesting. I haven't looked at them for ages, it used to be a bit of a ghost town but it looks like they have many more listings now.

  • I wonder what their buyer protection is like…just found this and thinking that someone will fall for that http://www.quicksales.com.au/ad/apple-iphone-5-16gb-32gb-and…

    • Indeed lowering your bar also attracts scammers :(

  • Good news. Can't complain about selling through another channel when it is free.

  • So scotty, are we allowed to post our own listings from QuickSales now? Or am I interpreting things wrong?

Just have a brand new Wii U game to sell (received from company), and I'm sure there'd be an OzB member looking to buy it.

    • Front page deals means stock. If you want to post it in the forums I don't see why not (but mods may correct me).

    • +1

No. Private sales aren't deals. Post them in the Sell/Swap section if you want.

As for business posting deals from quicksales, we also require the same from eBay deals, ie must be Australian business with ABN, minimum 10 quantity, etc.

      • Got it. Cheers!
