  • I have owned these and the sound is awesome - amazing for $80 BUT returned them for a refund due to volume fluctuation issues:

    http://lmgtfy.com/?q=gigaworks+t3+volume+fluctuation

    • Is that a problem with every unit, or just faulty ones?

      • Might have just been a bad batch but both mine and my housemates had the same issue. Tempted to buy again at this price though

        • If you bought it from DSE if you found problem again within warranty you can return it back to them. If they don't have stock by that time they will give you full refund.

      • I bought a set for my daughter Christmas before last and still going strong, sound is pretty decent too (ain't no audiophile though).

      • yep, it is a common problem for all 2.1 speaker. Pay $22 for 2 years warranty with brand new exchange would be a good choice.

    • Are you sure it didn't have to do with any software on your computer?
NVM seems like others have this issue

    • Interesting, my last set of Creative speakers from years back (not this model - an old 5.1 setup) also had this problem.

Anyway, I grabbed these from DSE Innaloo (large) and they must have been on clearance before. The price came up as $89.50 on the till, but there was a "was $299, now $85" sticker on the box so I saved another $4.50.

  • +1

These speakers are brilliant at the $169 I paid for them, at this price they mind and ear-drum blowing! Plenty of stock in Perth too!

  • Had them before, pretty decent sound, only problem is, the volume controller acts as the on/off switch, so if the controller fails (which it has known to do), the entire system is kaputs. At this price point, pretty sweet deal.

    • Maybe u can get a harmony remote and download the scheme?

      • Sorry, not sure why I assumed the controller was infra red, its obviously not…

either way I picked up 2 after work tonight, there may be one left at the George st Syd store if no one has snared it already.

Sound is great, sub is powerful but satellites may be slightly underpowered compared with the sub

    • you are right, all 2.1speaker has this problem. i think $22 for 2year warranty with brand new exchange would be a good choice.

  • +1

Also note that the ZiiSound T6 model is available for $149.50 from DSE as well.
(RRP is $500, when bought from MSY etc. $388+)

It adds a second satellite speaker for left and right (provides faux-5.1 when plugged in via USB) as well as Bluetooth connectivity with a range of connectors, and a few wireless dongles included in the kit. The subwoofer may be higher powered but looks to be the same appearance-wise as on the T3s.

I bought it at $224 two weekends ago before it dropped again most recently. Subwoofer has a lot of kick to it. Satellites prefer the high end but are crystal clear in that regard. Would depend on the kind of music you listen to, as everything is subjective.

It was worth it at $224, hoping that the buyer protection on my card allows me to get a refund on the difference because $149.50 is a sweet price.

    • How many inches are the T6 subwoofer drivers because I couldn't find it on the internet

  • +1

i bought these for $199, very good stuff…im sad that its at $89 now…
The volume fluctuation is an issue with bad contact on the volume controller
Can be fixed by opening it apart and spraying a lot of WD40
    No issues since…

  • So obviously the volume fluctuation is a common issue with these speakers?

    • yes - but with this price, 1 year warranty and a high success rate for DIY fixes after warranty is up, I decided to buy another set!

  • ok I actually checked stock availability for postcodes 5000, 3000, 6000 - there was actually stock ! :)

  • i feel like selling my Audioengine A5+ and buying two sets of these. One for tv and one for room. I like bass. hope the sub is decent!

and have money left over for a nice seafood dinner…

    • The A5+ are beautiful speakers if you predominately listen to music and they are still good for movies. If you like bass the T3 delivers more quantity than the A5+ but the quality would not match the A5+.

  • T3 Gigaworks for $95 or T6 ZiiSsound for $150? Decisions decisions…..

  • OMG, too many deals from DSE today.
    Wondering what's happen with them.

    • +1

is not what happen to them, but what happen to us, thanks to all OP who search on DSE and find us all this good bargain

      • Unfortunately, most of them is out of stock. :(

  • Bought one.. thanks… should stop checking ozbargain

  • These are superb speakers for the money, especially at $89.50! They beat anything I've heard for the money at $200, and I've auditioned heaps of PC speakers.

If you were thinking that the more powerful Logitech Z623 / Z906 would be better based on specs then you are right, BUT the sound quality of the T3 floors them in comparison.

    • what about compared to the Logitech z2300? im weighing up options…. z2300, ziisound t6 or the above t3's… Just going to use them for gaming, and blasting music whilst I work out.. anyone care to share their opinions… not going to spend above $150…. cheers

      • From what I gather the consensus is the Z2300 is better than the Z623. I would choose the Z2300 if you value volume and more mid-bass emphasis. If you are using it to fill a "standard" room the T3 is fine for me and can get loud enough for movies and music unless the space is very big. Although some might want more volume to share their sounds with their neighbours. In that case I would recommend Klipsch speakers, but they are very hard to find in Australia. I don't know anything about the T6.

  • The T3 has 3 x 6.5inch subwoofers - does anyone know how big the t6 subwoofers are? thanks waiting for your reply.

    • they are not big, just enough to fit those three drivers.
      Satellite Speakers:
      93mm x 76mm x 149mm, 352g
      Subwoofer:
      287mm x 236mm x 213mm, 5.9kg
      [edit]
sorry just realised you refer to t6 sub. a review said the size increased on t6, provides deeper and lower bass.
      T6 vs T3
      Satellites 100 x 100 x 230 mm 93 x 76 x 149 mm
      Subwoofer 320 x 240 x 220 mm 287 x 236x 213 mm

      • oh thanks heaps for that I am going to go for the t6 then - can you please explain to me how passive subwoofers work because whats the point of having 1 powered and the other 2 passive thanks.

        • There you go: http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Passive_radiator_(speaker)

  • I got mine! OzB is again guilty of getting me to buy something I wasn't looking for. Very pleased though

  • +1

Ha! I wish I had a use for another pair. I bought my T3's a while back @ $199 and have always been very happy with them.

  • cant find T6 anywhere in sydney

  • Does anyone think the $22 extended warranty is worth it, considering the volume control knob issues? Any thoughts?

    • It definitely worth. cos this speaker will have the volume fluctuation problem, but if it happens the 3rd year…

  • I just noticed a new ad spend over $150 and get a free retro blue-tooth handset.. so buying the t6 gets even better. if you buy something extra for 50 cents lol.

    offer ends 13/5

  • Went to Warringah Mall to get the router (finally got it from JB) saw DSE still have 2 of the T3 on clearance just for anyone interest.

  • Purchased one at the Chullora showroom.

One remaining on shelf an hour ago if anyone interested.

  • How big is the box please? I want to tram it. Chur

    • +1

36cm x 34cm x 29cm. Reasonably heavy, but should be ok to carry it for lengthy periods.

  • I have these speakers at home… for $90 it'll be hard to find anything better. I paid $160 for mine at MSY
    good for:
    - Bedroom
    - Small Room
    - Small Lounge room or entertainment room.

Sub does punch as its got 2 subs inside the enclosure.

If you planning anything bigger than the above. Example of a small room 4x4m rooms is to me considered as a small space for sound to travel.

These are clear and punchy, I would criticize the Mid Range but I have Tannoys Sycamore 5.1 range in my bedroom, but its either $90 or a $10,000 setup which you honestly don't need unless you have a large room and your quite fussy when you grab your popcorn and watch RAMBO with your mates!

    • does the sub hit harder than the logitech z5500?

      • I can't compare but the bass is a bit OTT. I currently have it on minimum, any more sounds excessive, even 50% bass sounds ridiculous. (The sub is in the corner of the room though)

        • Haha wow - Subwoofers are bloody awesome - never knew the T3 subwoofer was that powerful mate

    • Picture on the box suggests sub has 3 drivers

  • Seems they can deliver and have stock everywhere.

    http://dicksmith.com.au/product/XH2275/creative-t3-gigaworks…

  • Got these. Worth $90? Definitely. Worth the RRP of $199. No freaking way.

WIll do for my apartment room though :)

  • Guys, just saw this unit is selling at $44.75 at Dick Smith Taigum Brisbane!

If you happan to see this, go and grab the last two!

  • Just picked the last ones at the Adelaide store - freakin awesome sound!!! well worth it!

    • can the 2 inch speakers go pretty loud?

      • +1

They are surprisingly loud. I have used these speakers for parties before and everyone was surprised how good they were.

  • these are cheaper in some stores, $69!!!

don't buy online. ring around and ask first. some stores have their own specials

  • such as??……

    • -1

      ring around. don't be lazy!

  • Some places are cheaper…. $59 was the cheapest I found it.

    • which store sell $59?

  • anyone found cheap t6?

    • -1

nah i asked around all $149

      • Thanks mate.

  • Hmmm I was looking to buy these before. But one of the shop guys says this is more for bass then for classical music.

  • Every dick smith I went to or called still had T3's but they were all display or exdisplay stock and they werent willing to drop below $89.50, none of them had T6's… I ended up buying logitech z623 @ office works for $125, not as good as some got them for a few months ago but im happy with that, they were $239 @ dicks, $170 @ JB+ & cheapest on static ice is $133….

  • My old Altec Lansing 2.1 speaker had the volume controller problem too, only the right speaker has a sound. It is a common problem for all 2.1 speakers. I saw the $89.5 sale on DSM last week, it's really a good price, but I'm afraid that it will has the volume fluctuation problem within 1or 2 years. But if the price is $49-59, it is definitely worth, and I strong recommend add $22 for 2year warranty with brand new exchange, cos it will definitely have the problem, just wait for how long it will be.

  • Have the A5+, Z623s and Gigaworks T3s in the apartment. All decent. T3 very good for the price and for a small room. Z623 def more power and IMO a better sub. Sound quality on the A5+ superior though, but for some songs you just need a sub. I would love to hear how the perform with a decent sub though.

  • I received the T3 in the mail today and have just finished installing it. I played Deus Ex Human revolution OST on this… and wow! Was truly blown away by the sound. Love the tightness of the bass and the clarity of the speakers. This is truly a brilliant deal. I love the little controller that has earphone and aux-in for easy access. The issues that may occur with the volume control doesn't really bother me as I'm a DIY kinda guy so the following doesn't sound too hard:
    http://bigmouse.wordpress.com/2012/03/20/creative-gigaworks-…

For $90 shipped, this is an absolutely steal!

  • Thanks, I bought this while wandering earlier today and came to post it up (still a few left in DSE Claremont Qtr). I also got the Swan M10s 2 weeks ago…I don't feel human anymore
