I have not come across another better full carbon road bike with Ultegra DI2 electronic so far. The other one that i came across was from another online web was $2499.

Some parts are non ultegra though.

  • Great idea electronics, how long does the battery last? also if the battery goes flat can you still change gears?

    • +1

Battery usually lasts a season of riding. You get numerous beeps when it needs to charge.

it lasts many 1000's of km's

      Lasts 1500 shifts per charge

With Ultegra! OMG!!!!!! sounds awesome …… what's Ultegra?

    • +2

Not sure, but i have some snake oil you might be interested in lol

    • You don't need to be sarcastic dick.

Its the opposite of an integra

    • +9

if you dont know what ultegra is, you prob shouldn't be buying this bike lol

      • but you know it's quite funny how these manufacturers choose names for their products - yeah like I'm just gonna make a new word called "ultegra" because it sounds cool…

edit: I think their lower priced bike is also a good deal - 105/tiagra mix on an aluminium frame. available in all sizes. https://www.torpedo7.com.au/products/KHBRCN3K5/title/khs-201…

      Nvidia's new mobile processor.

  • That sounds like an amazing deal.
But I am a little surprised that the average one weighs 8.65kg. Given the frame and components, I would have thought it might have come in a little lower in weight!

    • It has a battery which may increase the weight

Di2 usually adds an extra 500g on top of mechanical groupsets.

So far from what I can see:
    - Stem, handlebar and fork are still alloy.
    - Includes crappy tektro r540 brakes
    - No pedals

Deal is kinda meh for me, plus I'm still happy with my Cinelli w/Dura Ace 7800 groupset.

    • +4

Road bikes never come with pedals, unless you buy one straight from in the shop (not ordered in)

    • -7
      • Forks only have alloy steerer, still carbon.
      • No one cares about your shitty Cinelli
      • +3

        I care.

    • Bizzare comments from someone with Dura Ace groupset. I doubt any Dura Ace bikes available today would have any pedals.

      • Sorry, I meant that people need to factor in the price for pedals too, long day before and hardly any sleep zzzz.

  • So what is electronic shifting and how does it compare?

    • +2

      Shifts electronically.

Gear cables dont stretch (once setup you never really need to service it)

Front derailleur is the best improvement.
So so so smooth front shifting.
Automatically adjusts so chain doesnt rub on derailleur

      • Also front derailleur shifts a tiny bit slower than the mechanical counterpart. Rear derailleur is so nice. Very accurate shifting. On shimano's website they claim you can shift under full load (though I haven't tried that).

And just to reiterate what Mattwilko said — front derailleur trims automatically. No gear cables to worry about.

I did about 5000km on this groupset so far, can't complain about it :)

  • I want a fully electric bicycle.

    Like this

  • What happens when the battery runs dry. You can no longer shift gears?. Too bad if you're trying to get up a hill.

    • defaults to small crank. even with 1-2% you can still change the rear derailleur
you can use the buttons to check the amount of charge left. i've heard people getting ~3500kms per charge

  • Cheapest Di2 Ultegra…too bad I just bought a Scott Foil 40 otherwise i would go for this one.

Thought I should mention shipping is $80.

Since they ship from NZ I think there may be import taxes involved… can someone confirm? You might need to pay $287 of GST.

    GST breakdown:

    Cval: 1800
    Duty @ 5%: 90
    Postage: 80
    VoTI: 1970
    GST @ 10% of VoTI: 197
Total payable duty + GST: 287

    • Not sure that it will be shipped from NZ, torpedo7 drop ship from china, taiwan etc

      • true, but on their shipping details page they say they ship from NZ though.

    • If it's coming from any country outside of Australia there will be customs import taxes involved since it's over $1000. I can not see it being exempt just because of it being shipped from New Zealand. So be prepared to pay hundreds of bucks in import taxes.

Since it's coming through Australia Post there would want to be pretty good postal insurance for this $1800 worth. Add a few hundred bucks onto that price for import taxes as i just said.

Says on their shipping page this:

Currently, all Australian orders are shipped through Australian Post. Our goods are shipped from NZ.

Shipments send outside NZ are sold exclusive of GST and may be subject to import duties and taxes, which may be levied once your shipment reaches your country.

  • Holly cow, a bike costing the same as a car! Never thought bikes can cost that much. I'm not into pro bikes so that explains why.

    • +1

What car costs $1799.00, except a shitty old hyundai etc

      • Yeah a car should cost only the cost of doing the transfer papers or registration. No self respecting ozbargainer pays $1800 quid for a car?
