DO NOT USE fishpond.com.au - very dodgey practises

Hi Guys,
Would like to share my experience:

Bought a photoframe from Fishpond.com.au on the 07/04/13. Item was shown as "in stock" with expected delivery between 22/04-07/05. I PAID IN FULL on the date of order.

Waited FOUR weeks for item, never arrived so I contact them. They tell me that they don't have stock and will not be able to get any stock and will cancel my order.

So they NEVER had stock, never intended to tell me with the intention of keeping my money.

These guys do not only use BAIT TACTICS to attract traffic to their site, they are DOWNRIGHT CROOKS.
They TAKE YOUR MONEY, DO NOT HAVE STOCK and DO NOT CONTACT YOU.

Please spread the word. FISHPOND.COM.AU are CROOKS.

I will share this with as many people as I can.

  • I've had bad experiences from them as well. I won't get into detail as it wasn't as bad as yours but it took three months to tell me the item will not be stocked

    I have ordered numerous items from Fishpond with no problems, even when out of stock I have had an email telling me when they have had more and when it will be shipped. They have saved me a,lot of money over the years. Don't forget they may have been let down by suppliers……

    • I came to add something like this.

      I purchased 10x1500 Microsoft Points for Xbox LIVE a whole back and paid it in full (as you should) and roughly after a week I got an email saying they are out of stock a s I'd have to wait for their supplier(s) to restock them.

      2, maybe 3 days later I received my order. =/

      Same thing happened with Ghost Recon: Future Soldier. Bought 5 copies for something like $14 each and was told it would be delayed. A week or so later, I had 2 orders from fishpond and I had received 2 batches of the same thing. Informed them of the mix up and was told to keep the extra copies because of their error and being a "loyal customer".

      Surely fishpond aren't the only ones who have had something happen like this in the past and they definitely won't be the last. You must have been one of those rare people who have had trouble and hey, at least they refunded you without much hesitation.

  • Fishpond for me seems on the mostpart good but have had some bad experiences with other Aussie Bookstores.

  • they didnt even ask me if i wanted to cancel my order and just cancelled it as soon as i asked when i was going to get it. this i sa MONTH after waiting for my order

  • I only ever got one thing from them back in 2011, used a gift voucher I received. It was just a Harry Potter DVD I ordered and things worked out ok, but DVD didn't seem to be 'exactly' the same as I would have received in store, ie packaging looked a bit different. Anyhow, haven't used them since and I probably wouldn't

  • I've ordered a bunch of things from Fishpond (I got a gift voucher). Order for $70 worth of books was advised of delays after 2 weeks, then they delivered 2 copies of each a fortnight later.
    Other single book at a time orders have all shown up, but the delivery takes an age, longer than the Book Suppository or BetterWorld, I feel.

  • I've only used Fishpond to order books and have never had a problem. In fact the service has been great and next time I'm going to order a book online I'll be using them.

    Items always come in a timely manner, good customer service and quick replies to any questions etc.

    Many websites use stock status on their website which is not updated in real time, Dick smith is a classic example of this.

    While your experience is bad, have you only bought the one thing from them or are you are a regular customer?
    you cant accuse them of bait and switch if you have shopped with them one time only, mistakes happen.. maybe you were just unlucky

    I would recceomend Fishpond to anyone.. and i have done in the past, everyone i have reccomended is happy

    • you need to poke around ozbargain a bit more if you have really "never had anything but good experiences with them"

  • Report it to the ACCC. They wont do anything but it'll make you feel better. If they took money at the time with no reasonable ability to supply the goods it's an offence under the ACL. If they have told you this and they're still advertising the product then make a snapshot of the website image and forward it with their email to the ACCC.

    That being said I just generally avoid fishpond now. I've tried them a few times, half the time they end up not having the stock and inform you a month or 2 after you ordered, sometimes you get the item but there's an excessive lag before you receive it and sometimes you get what you ordered in a reasonable time. Frequency of those statements are in the order I provided from most common.

    These days I'll only order from them if I see an amazing deal on here and even then I do so with the expectation I'll probably end up getting a refund.

  • I've had no troubles with them, only made 2 orders and both went through as expected, although with the second being very late to arrive.
