Rydges Hotels - Stay Anytime Sale - $95 rooms

161

This seems like a pretty good deal to me. Book online between 2/3/09 and 7/3/09 and you can stay in a room available at over 40 Rydges Hotels & Resorts for only $95 per room. Accommodation is available until 12/8/09. This is less than half price on some rooms.

They also say "fully flexible and no nasty hidden booking fees!". I did a quick look on their current rates. A basic room at Rydges Melbourne will cost on average around $190 - so the $95 per room sale seems great if your looking for some accommodation until 12/8/09.

there is something fishy with this deal. they say they will sell vouchers to book rooms. so you can't actually book a room for $95 directly. What happens If the dates you want are completely sold out when you're trying to purchase the voucher and convert it into a room booking?

For melbourne for example, everyone will try to book F1 weekend, a few people may manage to convert their vouchers to room bookings but majority will end up with $95 worth of vouchers that they can't use for the time they want.

  • I agree with Sharp, I change my vote to a negative. You have to prepay the $95 and then you are stuck if you can't get dates you want - it states in the T&C that you can't even sell the voucher.

    • You can revoke your vote on the votes page, although I don't think you can vote again after that.

I can't speak with absolute authority, but, if I was going to book a room and try and use a voucher I would check availability before I bought my voucher. Something along these lines…

"Hello, do you have a standard room available on ….. date?"

"Oh you do, great. Tell me, will you accept a $95 Stay anytime voucher?"

"Oh you will. Super. Could I have your name please in case I have any problems. Thank you so much."

    That should do it.

    • "Could I have your name please in case I have any problems. Thank you so much.”

      No, it won't help you.

RYDGES will say that when you rang, ON THAT DAY and spoke with Carla, Yes, there was a vacancy.

However, when you then rang back to book it, the vacancy had been sold to someone else.

I would completely stay away from this offer, it is useless.

I gotta admit, it does come across as somewhat sneaky. As Sharp points out, you are locked in to staying with Rydges yet the date you need to stay might not be available. But hey, by that stage they have you locked in for a stay at some point anyway.

  • The world prestige brand hotel had a sale late last year and it completely took down their website. That was cool. Just found the following on a friend's facebook page with the following link, "Cheap" Novotel etc.

    http://www.news.com.au/travel/story/0,28318,25034232-36335,0…

I rang around last week in Sydney and found out my favorite hotels in Double Bay are gone by the time we are in Sydney in May, so they gave me a quote for one of their hotels in circular quay(not sure if it was rack rate or not) over the phone. Then I told them the magic words "I work for the xyz organisation", and discount was made available. So if you have corp. discount, check for price before booking.

    • Got a $79 dollar night at the Novatel in Queensland. Nice. :)

      • got 3 nights darling harbour sydney $79 each (fri/sat/sun), going to a friend's wedding at Darling Horbour in May, perfect!

  • I don't get it - The sale is not active until March 1

    how are bookings being made?

    • we were booking accorhotels (novotel, ibis etc) as they were having their 3days supersale.
the rydges sale starts this sunday 1st march

      1. Pre-purchase your room for $95
      2. Redeem your token(s) by choosing your hotel/s & date/s from the online calendar.
      3. Enjoy your stay at Rydges!

Just looked at their advance notice page (for members), they'll tell you what hotels still have rooms available before you buy the vouchers - and what type of rooms they are that are available. This makes this a better deal, have a look in the morning, or try http://www.rydges.com/stayanytime/calendar.asp - it doesn't seem to care if you're a member or not.

  • it's not allowing me to purchase these 'tokens'… is this happening to anyone else?
