  • What sort of warranty are on these?

      • Going by the dimensions there.. up to 1tb is the same physical size.

Are they FINALLY using 9.5mm drives in all WD enclosures?

Edit: Doesn't matter, the USB is probably soldered on.

    • Normally 3 years limited warranty, I had issue with one of my drive after 2.5 years use, the WD is very supportive and they offered me a replacement.

      • Internal HDD warranty for WD makes me send the drive to Singapore which costs a bit on postage…would this be similar?

  • Does any one try to open this model? can I use it for my macbook pro internal disk?

    • Maybe not. Double check the product code if possible, otherwise search for "solder" here:

I couldn't find that post's anchor using the mobile web edition.

    • Yeah they might be soldered on. So they can't be used as internal drives.

WD is a bunch of d—-s like that.
Also for trying to sell raid-friendly drives at a premium, even though it's only a firmware difference.
And for only having product return to a singaporean address.

Aaah, now I remember why I don't like WD. Their drives are good at the moment, but their business practice sucks.

    • oh well. i will just buy real internal drive then. play safe.

    • Mine just died today. Opened it up to see if I could plug into my PC and the USB adapter is soldered onto it.

  • do officeworks sell these?

    • I can vouch that nothing from online nor at Alexandria store.

  • Hey guys, just a question about price matching at Officeworks. I just checked the Officeworks website and unless I'm blind the Elements 1TB doesn't exist anymore on their website. For the guys that price matched it did you just go into store and look for it and then direct them to the Harvey Norman/Bing Lee website?

    • That would be how it works.. its just that its not on ow site so who knows if they still sell it

      • Ok cheers! Could anyone confirm if they've price matched for any stores around Sydney?

        • Cheers. I really was curious. :)
