  • Looks like a sweet deal OP.

I'd be wary of these. I purchased a similar Philips system in a previous DSE deal.
I hooked it up to my Samsung plasma TV & the sound kept cutting out when people started speaking
So "Good evening, I'm Peter Hitchener" became "….ter Hitchener" which is annoying when watching TV.

After 3 replacements, I got my money back as it happened with all.

That sounds like a problem with wiring.. I had them with my Pioneer 5.1 home theater system that I saw as a deal on OzBargain a couple of months ago.. had the same issue - but once I seperated the wiring and sorted them into neater loops, the interference and sound cutting off went away.

        Should have bought Monster cables…
        j/k… Don't buy Monster cables! :-P

  • Dapto, Menai Central and Hurstville all have stock. Wollongong does not.

  • Philips site http://www.philips.com.au/c/home-theater-systems/dvd-hts3531… RRP $199.95

    Pretty basic:
    Front/Side connections:
    Music iLINK, USB
    Rear Connections:
AUX IN 1, Digital optical in
    HDMI output, Composite video output
Easy-Fit Speaker Jacks, FM Antenna Socket

Review on DS positive from budget conscience or first HT buyers.
But bad review: Have had other Home Theatre systems but this is the worst one ever. Confusing and slow to switch sources. Tinny sound. FM selection resets to nothing every time. Will be throwing in bin and was a total waste of my money.

Also: I found though to my horror it is not region free - really?? The fact that you can buy region 2 DVD's at The Warehouse means this is a real problem.

  • No DTS decoding
    No HDMI input
Strangely it has an Optical input.

  • for $99 is not bad. The DVD player may be able to be made region free get on the philips australia site on live chat and they can give you details if it can be made region free

  • +1 for doing the postcode availability details. Dedicated.
