It's a good deal if you need a prepaid phone. Just remember telstra does have expensive monthly credits and short expiry dates

Telstra is expensive for low usage, but the $30/month encore cap is great value if Voda and Optus do not give you good coverage. You get about 1GB/month data (400 + data pack)

      • Is this where you use the $30 pre-paid value to buy a data pack?

        • yes I always do that so I have 1,1 gb data per month and unlimited text and talk between 6pm-6am

A trick that you could try to get the "long life" expiry and cheap call rates of the "simplicity" plan is to:

      1. Be on the "long life" plan before recharging or when setting up.
      2. Recharge and then immediately switch to the simplicity plan and your credit will have the expiry of the long life plan.

Combine this with the $10 for $30 Telstra start up packs and you get 6 months of service for $10!
This has been very useful for my parents who don't use their mobile very much.

  • Funny that my local BP servo (country) had this same promo at $10 about 4 weeks ago but you didn't have to spend $30 to get it.

  • What's the tablet like on the opposite page? $99 for the tablet gets you a free Telstra WiFi device (MF 60) and $10 more you can get this Telstra Roamer.

So for $109 you get a mobile, portable WiFi device and a tablet. Tempting.

The PedoPad is seriously outdated. But if you were going to buy the wifi thingy anyway, then it is a bargain.

      • Thanks. Any chance you can direct me to the product specs?

        PeNdoPad

PedoPad is not a good look..

        • Thanks for the clarification. Certainly sounded something revolting and illegal.

You better sit down while I tell you most houses in Australia own a pedometer.

$10 wow, this is how old I am, I still remember when Motorola Micro Tacs where US$ 1,000 back in 1991. I would have never guessed a cellphone would even drop down to $10 :P

  • Awesome - local coles has it put aside for me (disability can be hadny sometimes lol)- spare phone here i come lol
Keep in mind it is a ZTE so should be pretty basic to unlock, and seems like it is 850/2100MHz

  • In the terms and conditions:

To qualify for this offer you must present and swipe your flybuys membership number at time of purchase, then activate the included SIM.

So this deal only seems to be open to holders of flybuys cards.

    • The flybuy restriction is only for the USB modem offer with the 2000 bonus points.
You can get the Roamer without any flybuys card.

      • Yes, re-reading this after looking at the other offers on the page you are correct. Very bad form of them squashing up all the text containing the conditions, it reads that the asterisked conditions are all of them, I wasn't expecting 1. and 2. in the text to be conditions relating to another deal.

  • Monicaaar needs to remove the Flybuys edit.

  • fyi roamer is $29 at target (and without $10 credit it seems)
