$20 Discount on HelloFresh Meal Boxes. Free Delivery. Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane Only

I have just tried one of their boxes after getting a discount voucher with another deal, great stuff.
Basically, they deliver (free) a box with recipes and all the fresh ingredients you need to make the dishes, then you prepare.
I was sceptical at first and thought it a bit pricey at $64 for 3 meals for two, but having tried one of the boxes, I want more!
I had Cavolo Nero soup (very hearty and satisfying, I hadn't tried cavolo nero before either), Harissa Chicken (accompanied by a huge fresh sweetcorn, beans and coriander salad that I ate for days), and a tasty lamb Rogan Josh. Impressed by the quality of the ingredients (definitely several steps above supermarket), and quantities ( I usually had enough for 3-4 serves rather than two). I also had plenty of parmesan cheese and coriander left over for other things. And of course you keep the recipes, which you can always repeat yourself.
It's a bit like a Jamie Oliver 15 minute meal with all the bits provided.

Pros are:
• interesting recipes
• quick, healthy and easy to make
• they supply everything (even peel the garlic for you)
• great quality of produce
• generous quantities
• free delivery

Only con for me is price, but well worth a try with the $20 discount if you are time-poor, hate going off to the supermarket, but want to eat something fresh and hassle free without resorting to the microwave.
The boxes are available for 3 meals or 5, and for 2/4/6 people.
This weeks recipes are Fresh Tomato Pasta, Lamb Merguez Pizza, Steak with Mushrooms, Miso Salmon, and Bombay Burgers.
Their delivery areas are Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane ('pretty much every suburb') and there is a postcode checker at order stage.
Using the code will give you $20 off any of the boxes, and I will get $12 towards my next box.
Enjoy.

  • doesn't work for fruit box. written like a rep post but benefit of doubt given because long time poster.

How would anyone know if this is a bargain? Their website doesn't say anything. It looks like a rip off and we won't know because they don't mention how much you get for what you are paying.

This seems like a pretty useless company for most people.

There is no information on where they source their fruit/veg, its likely average quality stuff from supermarkets etc.

If you want higher quality/speciality fruit/veg, aussie farmers direct do this.

This company won't even let you buy a fruit box on its own, they seem overpriced as well.

Its not that hard to find your own recipe and buy online/go in store for the ingredients yourself.

    • You can't get the discount on the fruit box because you can only buy it in combination with one of the meal boxes, it's made pretty clear on the website. I agree this deal isn't for everyone. If you don't mind shopping and cooking for yourself, I guess the attraction is limited, but I decided to give them a go and was favourably impressed, otherwise I wouldn't put it forward here. $20 off the usual price makes it worth trying out if you think you'd enjoy this kind of service. The quality is well above supermarket, I can tell the difference. It's a global franchise, they're well established in the UK and Europe.

I think it's an interesting idea but is seriously overpriced.

Especially when one of the recipes is tomato pasta, which should cost around $2 a serve. That's $60 for the other 2 meals.

  • yea these kind of things are clearly for people who work too much and have too much money to spend. I can't find a list of whats in the boxes anyway.

  • This is a subscription service - unless you cancel they will send you the next weeks box at full price.

    • You can cancel any time by email or in your account settings.

  • easier to get only what you need from a fruit shop or supermarket

  • sounds almost like a scam in the way that it is subscription based and that you are unable to see what you get in the box.

My weekly shopping for fruits, veggies and meat for 2 people is about $90 per week and we cook everyday except one day on the weekend. We get everything from markets and they are of great quality.

You guys are right it is so easy to look up recipes on-line and replicate them.

  • I've ordered before …i used a $20 discount voucher for a 'once-off' box. I might of did the cashback too, can't remember. I didn't end up using the service ongoing, as they gave us prawns which i do not eat and then lamb, which my partner does not eat. So better off just using woolworths homeshop or the farmer fruit/veg box. Also sometimes the cooking instructions are hard to follow and ingrediants sometimes differ to instructions. Otherwise was alright lol :)
