This sale starts TODAY (Thurs 26th), both in store and online. They had lots of good stock at the store I went to and it is a huge bargain!

There are some styles and sizes available online but it may be worth checking out your local store (especially the clearance stores as the retail stores have winter stock so a lot of summer stock has been moved out) as mine had LOTS more styles and sizes than online.

  • Am I the only one that thinks Rivers has devalued their brand to about one level above thrift shop? All the sales getting rid of stock at stupid prices can't be good for the company long term.

    • As most retailers they are probably trying to stay afloat.

  • I do as well. But its more that their pricing is more reflective of the quality of their goods which were over priced in the first place.

  • I disagree.

They have quality stock, and the only way to get people in is to offer ridiculous, one-time bargains like this.

Their stock is definately worth every cent.

    • I dunno, they're shoes seem dodgy. (Those cheap CVOs)

I don't think they have problems drawing in customers, they're just getting all this new stock that doesn't seem as good as the stuff they used to have.

  • I've bought sneakers, sandals and some clothing from them.
+ Quality seems as good as anyone else.
    + Prices have been better.
+ Also, 'cos of the ones I've chosen, cushioning has been great for running and walking.

They could be achieving lower prices and staying in business because of:
    - much smaller advertising expenditure than the others
    - higher volume of turnover on products (can distribute overheads across more products)
    - lower rent? (some of their stores are accessible, though not in the prime locations for their malls, which the other retailers have taken)
    - less spent on designers
    - less problem dealing with knock-offs (others have to deal with millions of dollars of knock offs that they compete against if they get past customs)
    - lower profit margin required to stay afloat

  • Rivers always have TOP QUALITY stuff.

They even list specific TECHNICAL information about their stuff:

They recently got sued by CROCS Inc (from the USA) because their "Crocs lookalikes" were so good quality.

    • Yes, I agree.

Most of the goods at rivers are extremely durable.
