Telstra prepaid plan help!

Hi all,

I'm coming off a post paid plan and is looking at getting telstra prepaid.
I've never used prepaid so was hoping to get some advice from experts on Ozb!

I saw a whirlpool post about recharging $70 on telstra's long life plan and then switching to simplicity for 12 months expiry on the credit and using the credit with low rates.

I was wondering if it's possible to use my $30 starter pack to activiate with the long life plan and switching to simplicity after to get 6 month expiry and be able to use the credit with the low rates?

Do I have to contanct telstra to switch prepaid plans or can i just do it on my phone?

    Apparently you need to recharge another $30 to change your 'Prepaid Bonus'.

    E.g. You start off with the $30 prepaid and you choose a 'Bonus' such as the Encore option.
    On the website or on your phone, you can select a different option but it won't activate until you recharge $30 in one go.

    At least that's what they told me last time I used their live chat service.

    And you can do it from your phone, do it online or use their live chat to change your 'Bonus'.

    huntress, yes you can do what you're asking.

    So basically with your 10$ starter pack you can get 6 months use and get the 12c calls.

    The information is under the $10 starter pack deals.

    if you search all the ozbargain deals for the $10 star packs, it's there

    You activate your sim first for long term
    you then change rate to simplicity,
