For 0.39 shipped, why not? I remember the happiness when I was a little boy and my dad gave me a compass. Hope my son will enjoy it the same way.

Most kids would prefer to use the compass app on your mobile phone but at this price probably worth a punt.

      • +2

This'll be a novelty for those types of kids.

Cheers, at this price I couldn't resist. Works out to AU$0.42 after Paypal.

Saw these in Kathmandu a while back for 5 or 10 bucks! A bargain, I say!

    • +1

Yeah, that Mt. Everest is a bugger to find :p

  • +5

reviews are pretty universal in saying these compasses are crap.

    yeah, I got one.

    • +1

As per ozbargain commandment # 3 - thou shalt prioritise price above form and function

    • +1

North is south and east is west?

    • +1

Haha yeah I saw that as well, but noticed when listing reviews by posting date, the reviews from recent times were pretty good so posted it :)

  • +2

    Got one. Couldn't resist.

  • +1

From the reviews, it sounds like this compass isn't that reliable, not sure if it's worth buying, even though it is cheap

    • +1

The recent reviews are decent so I'm hopeful it will be okay :)

  • +3

Got one. After checkout and payment though:

"By using a Meritline.com newsletter exclusive coupon code you consent to receive additional deals and promotions through our free e-mail newsletter. Thank You."

At least tell me this before I've blown my 42 cents!

    Get one or get lost

Really?? I'm pretty sure I got these in a Christmas bom bom… It is not worth it guys..

  • i wonder if it actually works as a compass

  • +2

    Does this work in Australia

    • +5

You need to get the matching AU adapter but that's not on special I notice.

    • -1

      Upside down, it will.

      • Negger, you don't need this compass. First priority is to buy a sense of humour.

    • although it's probably not balanced for Australia it will still work. The needle/disc might scrape and take longer to settle, but it will still point in the general direction of north (which is all you'd expect from a compass like this).

  • +1

Now I can find my way to the ozbargain meet ups

  • Nobody noticed yet?
    There is no "chain".

    • Yep, should be called Compass on a Strap.

  • Find your way to the local dump and throw this in

    • +1

If you're relying on this compass to get you there, I reckon the compass is pretty safe.

    Stock left still.

  • Not sure why this was marked as expired? Just did a dummy order right now and code is still active and stock still available:

    Order Summary:
    Sub Total: $0.39
    Shipping & Handling : $0.00
    Tax: $0.00
    Total: $0.39

I've unmarked it as expired, stock is still there as I write this, am sure it will run out soon though.

Times have moved on, you can get on an Android phone an app that is a free compass?

  • -1

Code has just expired now :) Thanks all for the + votes.

  • Got mine delivered today.

  • works once u shake it a few times and point in a a general north direction. sort of like a magic eight ball - tell me which way is north.
was hoping to put it keep it on the keyring.

  • Absolutely useless, could have bought some candy at the convenience store with this money let alone $2. More useful for aesthetic.
