  • I got excited, I thought this is i3 model.

  • Bought this for $380 last time when BingLee had it, not too bad… just lags and freezes sometimes

      thx.. you've solved my question.

    • Check out my previous post on this. If you replace the HDD with a SSD you get a sweet little touch screen notebook.

      • What's the battery life like with the SSD? Non-replaceable battery concerns me. Also, is RAM maxed out at 4GB?

        • +2

Battery life seems slightly improved with the SSD. I installed a 256Gb Samsung 840Pro.

Unfortunately the ram is not upgradable from what I understand so stuck at 2Gb.

      • A while ago I was trying to google if anyone replaced the HDD on this particular model but no luck (I think most of the people do this on the bigger Vivobook), I wanted to open up this F202E but was worried that I might break it, so I might have to find a tutorial on how to open this thing up.

        • Check out this post for info.

Remove the screws and just jimmy open with an iTunes card or credit card.

        • Or here is a summary….

Used the Samsung data migration software and all programs came across to the SSD no problems. Also pretty easy to pop the case off the bottom, just undo the screws and jimmy off with an old itunes card (or credit card).

Just be aware there are 3 different size screws.
          Small for the front
          Long for the centre
          Mid for rest.

also note, one of the centre rear screws also holds in the hard drive, so when you remove the bottom cover note which 3 screws are holding the harddrive.

With the SSD this is a cheap speedy little netbook alternative (with 256Gb SSD for under $550).

Does not have bluetooth so also added this (did not want to deal with a no-name ebay brand)….

  • Saw this today, thought it was a good price but didn't think of posting :P

  • Oh and there's stock at Bribie Island, Queensland

Funny how we all hate DSE at the start of the day and by the end we're all promoting them again!!! I'm sure going to avoid it. Low stock, (according to two DSE reps Ive asked) means the stock is damaged or a customer has placed a hold on it. I'd be curious to see if anyone gets one at a low stock store. This ones been on the site all day along with the other one for $261 that was recently posted on OB too. I did a click and collect for this at a Melbourne store at around 10am, they haven't been in touch at all to confirm!

this or wait for haswell celeron… decisions decisions…

    • Depends on your usage. The one you show is bigger 15" with DVD burner. This post is for a 12" with touch screen and light weight. Both are very low end specs, though should be ok for Microsoft Office and web surfing.

I have the 12" but upgraded to a solid drive (SSD) to speed the thing up.

  • Bought the i3 version for $499 delivered from eBay. Asus has international warranty and the celeron is a little sluggish.

    • Or other option is the Celeron with the SSD to speed it up.
