Rabo's Notice Saver

hi everyone,
I just found out that Rabo has a new type of account called the "Notice Saver"
It's like a term deposit, in that you can't immediately withdraw your money.
Here's a Ctrl+C/Ctrl+V from their site:

The account is a bit like an online savings account except you have to give us advance notice to take your money out. Which means you're far less tempted to buy on impulse, so it helps you save or put money aside. Clever huh?
Choose from three notice periods
The amount of notice you choose to give isn't an investment period like a Term Deposit, it's just the amount of notice you need to give before your money is available.
31 Day Notice Saver - Provide 31 days notice to withdraw funds
60 Day Notice Saver - Provide 60 days notice to withdraw funds
90 Day Notice Saver - Provide 90 days notice to withdraw funds"

Notice Period Interest Rate: $0 - $250k Interest Rate: $250k - $2m Interest Rate: $2m+
31 Days 4.45% p.a. 4.10% p.a. 3.50% p.a.
60 Days 4.55% p.a. 4.20% p.a. 3.50% p.a.
90 Days 4.65% p.a. 4.30% p.a. 3.50% p.a.

What do Ozbargainers think? Worth switching to?
Personally, I wont be switching, because RAMS is higher, but I guess if you didn't want to deposit $200/month, it'd be a good alternative once Rabo's 4 month introductory rates ran out?

dont get why they make it complicated with creating (more paperwork, resources, research, trials, etc). just make one simple account with highest interest saving in australia as a guarantee, then thats it, we all will move to ya!

The interest rate is variable where as TD is fixed. Imagine putting your money in 90 days Notice Saver and the interest rate drops significantly but you have to wait 90 days before you can withdraw.

  • meh i get a higher rate for my at call account.

RAMS gives you 4.76% and UBank gives 4.66% both at call if you deposit $200/mth.

I don't see any benefit in going to Rabo

    • agree - and having already got a notice saver, I will be giving notice today…

UBank is backed by NAB, who is RAMS backed up by?

Also RAMS will penalise you if you withdrawl money, you lose your bonus interest saver.

UBank is still the best online bank.

    • RAMS is a subsiduary of Westpac I think

  • Rabo bank has just dropped the rate on notice saver. Glad I gave notice….

    4.2% 4.3% and 4.4%

  • UBank has another account called reach which gives 4.66% and you do not have to do any ASP stuff.
