  • There must be a reason for so many Seagate hdd on promotion lately.

    • possibly to do with the bad publicity they've been getting of late with a number of firmware bugs that have been bricking their drives…

  • OW has RND2150 for $478
Limited DSE has RND2150 for $399

  • yeah i saw it on sale for ~475 at officeworks braddon (they had plenty in stock)

  • I bought mine (RND2150) from ARC Computers in Sydney for $433.

I have a spare 1Tb drive, so with the bonus 1Tb drive then I get a fully redundant 1Tb drive array for safely (and easily) storing all my digital photos and music (and personal data). Losing those without any backup options will be something I couldn't live with (not to mention my wife would kill me if we lost the years of family and personal photos!!)

I already have an old PC with a small RAID array that does a similar thing, but that takes up a much larger footprint (physical and carbon) and is nearing the end of it's life. An external 1Tb USB drive is much cheaper (got one of these too) but there is no backup option if it fails. Guess it all depends on what purpose you are going to use this kind of storage device for anyway.
