Cadbury 200g Blocks $2 at Coles Whitfords (WA)

90

The old Cadbury 200g blocks (in the cardboard packaging) are $2 each at Coles in Whitfords WA. They have a long expiry and are mostly plain Dairy Milk, but you can find some other flavours (there was also Turkish delight). I am guessing this will be clearing old stock so maybe not at all stores.

They also had 100g Dairy Milk blocks for 60c,also with a long expiry.

  • is this nationwide?

    • I would expect this is only at stores that still have the old boxes.
Most blocks are now in foil and 10% bigger.

Good deal if you can find them.

    • Had this at Coles Lindfield, NSW last week as well.

      Also made in China

      • The more accurately ascribed quote is
"Packed in China from Belgian Chocolate for BIG W".

So I think that clearly covers where the recipe is 'from'. What's more, I have bought blocks in Hazelnut, Fruit & nut, as well as milk — Traditional Belgian Chocolate", and prefer not to waste funds on this lesser stuff.

Right up there with Whittaker's for mouth-watering flavours, soft milky textures; except in this case we have quality, and quantity * 350g.

If you looked into it you'd probably find "Belgian Chocolate" is a company name, not a description of origin. "World's Greatest Chocolate" was a fundraiser when I was a kid. It was compound chocolate & never tasted very good. It was because the company was called "World's Greatest Chocolate" that it could honestly write that in bold on every bar, not that the chocolate itself was great. It wasn't.

        • apparently McDonalds "100% beef" is a trademark rather than a promise.

what do you think Mr Ed?

      • Feel free to Consult the History~ http://www.leonidas.com/en/about however, but for the naturally curious, http://www.chocablog.com/reviews/cocoa-belgian-dark/ -discussion.

Likely there is truth to your perspective though, in AFAIK 'Progressive Enterprises "ltd"' appears the distributor & subsidiary for one pestiferous holding co: WOW.

" Cocoa Belgian™ " would be their trademark, while admittedly no accounting for if the recipe is authentic European or doctored :S tastes superior tho ime.
